I stayed mainly because of an awards ceremony and I have to say that the food, service and other arrangements were very good. My room was very scruffy with a thread bare carpet and no bbc1! There was rubbiish on the flat roof immediately outside my room, the welcome was far from warm, clearly the hotel is having difficulty in recruiting top quality staff, the breakfast was not up to the standards one would expect for the money and why oh why do the staff have to wear depressing black shirts/tops? |

Location, pool and interconnecting rooms The hotel needs a good face lift. It is looking very tired. Broken lampshade and bath panel, marked window sills, wallpaper coming off. Cleanliness outside the hotel is not very inviting: fag butts by the back door, beer cans in the car park. |

most of the staff were friendly ,spa good ,bed comfortable,cleanliness of room ,clean fresh towels every day stairs only to the room we stayed in-no lift part of hotel we were in wallpaper and carpets tatty for price paid for the stay. |

Only stayed one night so did not use all facilities but they were there if we wanted to rooms clean and comfy Decor in main hotel breakfast room etc not good paper faded and coming of cooked breakfast was small no choice of tomato mushrooms |

The leisure facilities were very good, i.e the jym and the swimming pool I had the cooked breakfast which was fair better quality food needed |

nice leisure facility The hotel is in need of a lot of money spending on it.The bedroom looked if it hadnt been decorated for 10years.The bathroom panels on the bath and doors were peeling..We went in for dinner at 7.15 I ordered Prawn Cocktail only to be told they had just served the last one,at 7.15!!!So we ordered soup and our main course and asked to see the wine list,at 7.45 we had not had the wine list or our soup so we saw the manager and explained why we were leaving the dining room.Also that weekend they had no credit ir denit facilities. |

nothing, although the waiter did well to manage so many tables on his own terrible condition of decor. carpet joins taped with curling up duck tape. staff appearance scruffy. incorrect billing due to early leaving. had it not been for the length of time it would have taken to arrange alternative accommodation I would not have stayed there. very over priced for the condition of the property. leisure facilities not tested. |

The hotel is in definate need of refurbishment,the rooms and bathrooms are very dated,the toilet in our bathroom didnt even flush,the wallpaper in hallways is peeling off the walls.We use hotels all over the country on a weekly basis and generaly were very disappointed with this one. |

Excelent value for money and the food was good with a varied menu Rooms comfortable for an overnight stay maybe too small for an extended period.Ovelooks railway yards but not a problem |

This is another hotel in Carlisle which I have stayed at before when on coach tours, so I wanted to stay a night here while travelling solo back. From Scotland, Location was handy and so arrived by local bus! My room was clean and tidy, but decor needed attention !!! A long wait at reception to check in, a long wait at the bar at times so may it be that more staff are needed here. Also decor needs attention, not to a style that appeals me but the wallpaper should not be peeling off. |

restaurant staff pleasant and helpful. Everything else about the hotel apart from the restaurant staff.The receptionist was unhelpful and rude. The first room offered was dirty, dark and totally unacceptable - the second was not a great del better. Overall dirty scruffy and unworthy of any stars.Expected a lot more from Swallow hotels.Needs totally renovating although it would be easier to demolish and start from fresh. |

Friendly staff. Good meals. Relaxed atmosphere. Family in York/Manchester perfect half-way stop. Not clearly signposted - we went in the medical centre !!!! Sound proofing. Car Park needing re-tarmaced |
