the staff are the best experience at the swallow newcastle. the hotel has obviously become increasingly dilapidated over the years but the staff ofset any discrepancies that might exist. the fact that over the 4 days spent there, lift number 2 remained out of order. this may be for a reason but nevertheless it made staying there that little bit mre dificult at times. |

The dinner to the value of £20 offered in the DBB rate was not good value as the set menu is £16.95 and only 1 of the grill options took it above the £20. I had a starter and the mixed grill which with a £5 supplement only took it to £18-95, the supplement was added to my bill upon checkout but then taken off when pointed out to the receptionist. However DBB for £59 was excellent value. |

Helpful and pleasant staff. Well cooked food. Appallingly slow lift operation & 1 (of 2) out of action (long term). Using the stairs wasn't an easy task - public stairs to 2nd floor only then access via a very dismal fire exit/staircase. Reminiscent of a multi-storey car park. In a 6 storey hotel this isn't good enough. |

It was very good value - leisure facilities, particularly the pool,made it a very pleasant break. Good choice for breakfast. Rooms are fully equipped. |

use of the pool and spa facilities. easy access into central newcastle arrived late at night after a long journey, and were told we could not order any refreshments. although 24hr room service was advertised. |
