We stayed at this hotel last year and were really disappointed with it. We only returned this year as it is across the road from the Conference centre which we attending. The receptionist was very helpful and found us a parking space even though we couldn't check in until 3.00pm .
Noncompliants this year. Much improved.
A grand building with plenty of character in a good location in the centre of town. Staff friendly and efficient but unobtrusive. Room and facilities more than adequate for my needs and very good value for money that week.
Friday night is party night and noisy for rooms on the first floor but that was not a surprise and finished at a reasonable hour. Décor on stairs, doors and corridors showing wear and tear, particularly on painted woodwork.
Convenient to town centre
Breakfast finished at 9am felt this was a bit early as we had a works xmas party the night before & would have liked to have gone down a bit later
The free upgrade to double room, the staff.
The single bedroom that stank of rotten milk or something worse, having to pay for parking round the back.
location close to town centre
No early breakfast on the last day no one had told the late porter, and he was not very keen on even a cup of tea.
Car Park spot reserved through booking.com-NOT available on arrival! Had to find alternative parking-not easy! Dripping tap in bathroom-constant. Shower would not go to above tepid! Although hot water via taps-obliged to have a bath.
The location is central for the town centre
Staff were really unhelpful. The room was over the function suite which had a very loud party and disco on until 1.00am. No parking space available. Breakfast organisation was . Wouldn't ever stay here again.
In the town Comfortable
Breakfast - the cooked breakfast was very average with cheap sausages and overlooked bacon.... the toaster didn't toast and if you put it in a second time it burnt the bread.
Hotel really well located for town centre shopping. Being able to reserve a parking space was great, meant we didn't need to do any driving between arrival and departure.
Extremely low level lighting in the bedroom, found it difficult to see what we were doing at times.
i was woken up at one am to noise from teenagers outside they must of been just sat there half the night they kept me awake i felt like going outside and moving them on so reception or security need to step up to this problem
Location, the bar, the staff and the room.
£5 a night parking fee (greedy). Limited breakfast on the first morning (they ran out of bacon n sausages)
I was given bad feedback after booking our sales reps in this hotel for the night. The were not happy with the hotel and would not recommend to anyone.
the hotel location was fantastic food great a nice stay once settled
car par no 24/7 room service and no late bar ie after 11pm booked through booking .com and on booking confirmation was adviced £5 per day for parking and was charged £10 per and after hastel of car park was given no booking recite...
Position of the hotel was perfect. The swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi was brilliant. Lots of area's to read and relax in.
Our room 125 had the smallest television ever made...13" !!! Which was an absolute joke compared to the room size, we considered buying binoculars ! Room 125 appeared to be above a wedding reception which made it a very noisy evening and night, and then the hotel put the wedding guests on all levels rather than put them on the lower level with others on the higher floors ?
Large room with comfortable bed
On busy road No-one on reception when we arrived (had to search for member of staff to help) Very long wait until someone appeared to serve in the bar.(a bell in both places would be useful)
The location of the property was perfect for Xmas shopping in Harrogate
Our room was very very small and very dated. For the £110 price tag we expected a bigger bed and more room. The wardrobe was like something from Ikea and the bathroom had a fire escape in it. It wasn't conducive to a romantic weekend away and we wanted to spend as much time out of the room as opposed to in it.
Location I couldn't fault
Room was extremely dark, windows were poor (let lots of noise in) walls were covered in damp, noise from disco below was disgusting the floor was bouncing, staff very sarcastic and not willing to help. Had to ring downstairs for wifi information, no parking unless you pay £5 however we were not informed of this.
The location of the hotel for shopping was really good. the spa was excellent with good opening hrs and helpful staff
The attitude of your bar staff, not only was I over charged he told me without a bill he wasn't prepared to do any thing although he didn't give me a bill I had to complain to management to get a refund. Our room key was giving to another couple who entered our room whilst we were in it,this could have been really embarrassing and could have resulted in theft if the couple had not been honest. as it was it was very distressing for the elderly lady.you also need to put up signs warning about driving over the parking poles.
I like Keira Knightley. Anything else is a disappointment. But for the money I paid (and wanted to pay) the hotel and its facilities were entirely acceptable. The reception was OK, the room was OK and the bar was OK. Which is what I was after. If I had paid more I would have expected more. But I paid budget, expected budget and pretty much go it. So, no great complaints.
The lift was small, slow and concerning. In the morning some a-hole decided to commandeer it to get the luggage of a coach party down so everyone else had to use the stairs. Which is WRONG. The room was only designed to sleep in. It had a TV but nowhere to sit and watch it. The shower took forever to get warm. The breakfast was OK but the fried egg yolks were hard - this is punishable by DEATH in my book and is unforgivable. The bacon was cold and in short supply because "the machine is broken". Quite what "machine" wasn't specified - but clearly they had no frying pan. The hotel was at the bottom of a hil and so walking round was always off to a bad start!
location Size of room
Level of customer service. Very brightly lit canteen like dining room Quality of food. Bit like school dinners. Bathroom in need of refurbishment. Awkward parking with bollards.
The location was fantastic, really central and easy to walk anywhere you need.
The beds were very uncomfortable and if you were on the front it was noisy.
Location. Staff were friendly
Original room was very shabby with curtains missing hooks and therefore unable to draw properly, decor and furnishings appeared to be very worn. We were given another room however there was a damp smell in both rooms and whilst the second had been modernised the standard of wall papering was extremely poor.
The position of the Hotel to the conference centre , ideal.
Breakfast finishing at 9am midweek! Very strong smell of cleaning fluid in the corridor and bathroom, lingering into the evening.
Location, staff and facilities
The bed was too firm for my liking so had a restless night
