Good location, functional pool
No hot water in the morning, old dated facilities in need of renovation.
No free wi fi in room
Hotel was in a great location and had its own car park which helps when travelling, the room was a good size, bathroom was spotless, good selection at breakfast, the spa facilities were perfect husband indulged in a body massages, loved the old and new of the hotel we had a lovely stay and would definitely stay at the hotel again.
Corridors slightly narrow in places but that's unavoidable.
In a good location in Harrogate
Reception was not manned during check out to advise the TV was not working properly
I liked the night manager who aided me with a view to parking my car down the side street, when your car park was full, and it does not reflect the amount of customers using the hotel.
I did not like the condition of the room or its bathroom which required a complete refurbishment, it was not modern. The shower attachment was shocking in its description (meaning the word shower; should not be used) the tiles required grouting, very un hygienic. The breakfast was not to what I consider to be an acceptable standard, such as its presentation, taste and so on. The hotel requires a complete refurbish or the price lowered to 20.00 per night to reflect value for money.
Area was good very central. Breakfast was very good.
Staff: not helpful No car park On entry to our room, it smelt of domestos for ages, room needs updating, bathroom very poor, sticky floor, very basic. Bag of rubbish outside window. Breakfast was good but staff had to be asked for tea and coffee, menu not explained, asked for sweetener, staff never brought any! Husband had to find someone to serve in the bar, at night!
Ambience of hotel
Service at breakfast was poor...had to wait a while to be served tea and coffee and milk must be a scarce commodity in Harrogate.
Hotel was lovely, great location, lovely and warm throughout.Great dining room, with good service and lovely breakfast.staff great in dining room.
The room was small, dark, and outdated, dismal decor. bed was hard and uncomfortable. Also never any staff at the bar, so had to wait ages for a drink,or had to find someone to serve us.seemed to be short staffed.
The checking in staff were efficient and very friendly . Room very spacious and clean . We didnt use pool but it looked very nice . Checking out was simple and the guy on reception let us leave our car for a couple of hours after check out
Noise from the road outside but its an old building so can only be expected . Bed not so comfy but we were only there one night . Room 109
Tends to cater to large bus parties of older people.
Poor room No hot water No parking available
I have stayed in The st George twice now, once on my own and the second time with my mum, both visits were enjoyable and relaxing. This hotel is excellent for people wanting to attend the theatre as they are all close by, ond theatre is literally opposite the front of the hotel. Ideal for visits to turkish baths too as it is also just over the road. Perfect for shopping trips and the free use of pool and spa is a bonus. Breakfast very good with very friendly helpful staff and a relaed atmosphere.
The first time I stayed at this hotel I found only 1 problem and that was a loose wooden seat in the sauna. The second time I visited the water in my room never got hot, just warmish, which was a shame as I like to have a bath. Another small annoyance was the cost of £1 to have a padlock for lockers (non refundable), I know it's not alot of money, but it was the priciple of having to pay at all. We didn't bother with a lock as we had nothing of value in our lockers, just clothes, toiletries etc.
Noise from wedding
Leisure pool good for a rainy day
Poor parking, not clear from your website that the only way to prebook space was by phoning hotel and then that the majority of spaces were taken by Shearings. Hotel could do with a little TLC.
It is so close Southlands Residential home that my mum stays in.
I didnt like the single rooms on both my stays one looked out onto a back alley at street level with a view of loads of drain pipes I kept the curtains closed during my stay in case the alley was used. I did ask for a room with a view. My second visit I was on the second floor overlooking the road and the Royal Hall, Lovely view. However the sun was so bright and shone into my room in the mornings so I had to close the curtains to put my make up on it really was a problem. The room was so hot in the mornings it was very uncomfortable as I could not open the window I was given a fan to cool the room it helped.
Excellent location, decent TV.
Chlorine smell around the lobby. Reception not informing at check in that breakfast not served after 9am! Grotty looking bathroom.
I arrived just about 15 minutes before check in time of 3.00pm I was given my room number as I signed in I saw the key for my room in the hutch but the receptionist made me sit for ten minutes for no reason at all as the room must have been serviced just to wait till 3.00 to collect my key
Could not get my car parked on arrival at the hotel, because I did not a space which I was unaware I had to book, got into the car park and could not get out had to report to the reception to receive a code to let me out. the car was full of old type MG's and the girl on the front desk thought it would be alright to to go out side and walk 10 mins or so to park my car on some street. They were not concerned that I traveled a fair distance to spend a night in the hotel, and had to drive around looking to park my car. never again will I visit this hotel.
The hotel room was great - and really clean and looked after. breakfast was good too.
the website does say that wedding take place however my room was right next to the room where the disco for the wedding was - i was not part of the wedding party and the music went on until 1am! I called reception 3 times to find out when it would finish but did not get a reply - would have been good to have been told when i checked in - or if possible put a wedding guest in that room.
Superb breakfast. Large, private room. Close to amenities. Good base for many places of interest.
Photos belie the fact that the front entrance lets out onto a busy four lane road/junction. Although parking space booked - it was filled and, we had to run back and forth to reception to sort out another space - all after a long journey. In need of refurbishment.
Nothing about the room.Don't think I would stay again without wiewing the room first.Had my wife been with me,as soon as she opened the door she would have walked straight back out.
Location of the hotel is great, breakfast is acceptable.
The room was comfortable, the bathroom though was a bit dated and could do with an upgrade. The breakfast was excellent, it was hot with plenty of choice. Full marks
Our fault but like sleeping with a window open so the noise from outside was a bit of an intrusion being a Friday night, we do recognise though it was our mistake.
Cracks in ceiling dirty shower curtain a painted bath which was cracked and blistering cardboard under the sink which was covering the floor boards was dirty and damp
The facilities were good,Leisure area especially. Good size single accommodation. For town centre needs excellent. Ample choice for Breakfast meal, the only meal booked.
Access to car park not easy to find being so close to Traffic lights.Better signage from town direction would assist. Whilst clean and comfortable ,decoration looked "Tired". En suite adequate but quite small for "Larger" guests.
Picture on website indicates that hotel is in its own grounds - when in fact the gardens pictured are the municipal gardens next to hotel .Room was basic - bed not comfortable - bathroom needed serious work. We had dinner at hotel and food was not good. We were booked for 2 nights but stayed for 1. There was a coach party staying and our opinion is that this hotel is happy to cater to this type of business and not to the independent traveller.
