Our room was brilliant, very comfortable and clean bed and pillows, nice and warm too, also large. The bathroom was a little tatty but didn't bother us. The hotel was lovely and just as expected, not really anything else to do at the hotel as the bar area is very small and no other areas of entertainment available Didn't seem that organised on booking in and making payments

The building; it's quiet location, though not the easiest to find; spacious and very comfortable room - all named after former Prime Ministers There's been a change of ownership very recently and we visited during a settling in time. It needs a bit of a re-stock in the bar/wine department. We hope it all gets smoothed out, as it's a great place and deserves full commitment from the new owners. In the right hands, this place could do really well.

Friendly welcome, good breakfast. Difficult to find from the airport. Postcode covers a wide area, which was confusing for satnav.

Beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was good. In the Stansted flightpath, one person serving in the restraunt and having to tend the bar, so you had to go and find them when requiring bar service.

Near the airport, but in a beautiful countryside. The hotel is very characteristic, with spacious rooms and a nice garden all around. The restaurant is noteworthy, warmly furnished and with timber interiors. It also serves an excellent breakfast.

The hotel was warm and welcoming and tastefully decorated. The staff were most helpful and friendly. Many thanks for a comfortable stay Water pressure and hot water were a little disappointing - but this is a grade b listed building so allowances have to be made

The room I was given was very spacious and comfortable, however the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. I don't think I've ever seen so many spiders dead and alive in one indoor location before now!

The staff were excellent - very helpful. Especially the night porter on duty on Saturday 30 July - nothing was too much trouble for him and he was very pleasant. Bed was very comfortable, room was very large. Wasn't very happy that our room wasn't ready a 4 pm. We were going to the Tom Jones concert and had to leave without being able to have a shower. We were told told that there had been a wedding the night before - I'm afraid that didn't interest me - I just wanted a shower! The bathrooms definitely need modernising - the shower was dreadful.

The peace and quiet, the room was comfortable and the service was very good. The location was a bit more rural than I had expected, so had to rely on taxis to do most things as the weather was also poor during the stay.

Charming hotel, typically English building and in-room decoration. Just a bit disappointed that it is remote to a pub. Free wifi in common space, not in bedroom. I stayed there one night upon arrival from a late flight and before heading to London in the morning. This hotel is probably best suited when going to it with your own car.

The hotel restaurant was absolutely beautiful. Full of old world charm. The food was very reasonably priced and was excellent. All the staff were friendly and efficient. The location was very romantic and in a great place in the country. Ideal for walks . The hotel is 50 yards away from a beautiful old church. Well worth a visit. The hotel hosts weddings in their okld barn which would be absolutely beautiful. The rooms need a lot to be desired. We stayed in the Palmerston but inside the room was something out of the 70'S. It was painted a ghastly light blue with pink wardrobes with flowers on. The 'non matching' curtains were hanging off. Nothing matched in the decor. The bathroom was decorated quite nicely and modern but the bath was dripping. There was mould in the corner of the bedroom and bathroom. We kept the windows open in the bedroom but it soon filled with fumes from the outside heaters above the window.!There is aeroplane noise but it did not disturb us. We would stay again if they upgrade the rooms!

Very friendly staff, excellent evening meal, the location & history of the hotel was very interesting. The rooms were comfortable & warm and the price was value for money. We would certainly stay with you again in the future. The only thing was that work was being carried out on the hotel quite early on Sunday morning (around 8:15 am) which woke us up earlier than we had planned.

Not much to like really, although with some investment it could be a building of character and a pleasant enough Hotel In need of complete refurbishment. To have dirty, stained carpets in a bathroom is just not acceptable. Pillows lumpy, beds uncomfortable and hard to seelp anyway as Hotel is right underneath the Stansted flight path. Restaurant has huge cobwebs.....not clean. The low price is refelective of the poor condition of the hotel, but all in all a better option is to pay a bit more and stay somehwere acceptable.

Coveniently located to Stansted airport with a bit more luxury than standard budget hotels nearby. Worth the extra five minute drive. Free parking too. Loverly views of countryside from room window. Full English breakfast at modest cost. Overall better value than some other hotels closer to the airport Nothing. Only thing was that directions to were not clear especially at night
