Friendly staff, pub was nice with cosy real fires.
Ice cold bedroom, no heating had been put on before we arrived. Room pretty small and tired. Cheap biscuits
I only stayed 2 nights but after having problems getting the key to work the staff were always ready to help me get the door unlocked. The problem was to be speedily resolved by having a new lock fitted the day I left. Staying in winter it would have been easy for the room temperature to be either too hot or too cold but it was perfect, Bibliophiles will love the downstairs public rooms with the book cases and old pictures. The Swan has all the interest and character of an old building but the facilities are totally up-to-date. Will not hesitate staying again if I need accommodation in that area as it was easy to find (although do not follow your satnav if it tells you turn right as The Swan is on the main road!)
The key would not work well in the lock making it difficult to get into my room however this was to be rectified the day I left
Location, excellent roof
Staff may just have been a little more welcoming
The restaurant and breakfast were very good.
The room was facing the road and because it is single glazed, it is extremely noisy and we couldn't sleep.
Very friendly staff. Warm and welcoming atmosphere in the pub - a cosy place to relax downstairs. Lovely food.
Room location at the front of the building. Fairly constant noise and vibration from lorries, unfortunately, which is a real shame. Should be cheaper.
Entertainment for New Year's Eve the welcome we got and the bar everything was great Breakfast was delicious and the welcoming was excellent Great time Highly recommend
Staff were wonderful, day and night Room as described Food was fantastic
Being picky, I would prefer a more powerful shower
Good quality food. Friendliness & helpfulness of staff. Good sized room Fast service at breakfast
Not enough choice of food for breakfast, e.g. croissants/yoghurts would be nice
Good overnight location for a cross-Britain motor traveller
Everything Internet was down but not owners fault Very apologetic
Location was first class Staff extremely friendly without being over-bearing Breakfast was served promptly and was exactly what I wanted Excellent access roads to and from M6 and also into Newport Market Town
Bathroom light above wash hand basin and the mirror did not work (Room 11) Shower controls difficult to manage successfully without proper instructions
Bed was extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows.
Advertised as free wifi yet it does not reach the barn conversion rooms so not able to do the work I intended. Shower pressure was awful, just a dribble if you wanted a hot shower with no heater in bathroom. Electric heater on wall took ages to switch on room was freezing on arrival.
Open fires Atmosphere Food Having a nice hot bath
Food in Restaurant is exceptional. At least they provided a fan heater. bedroom adequate for price. bathroom too cold to use, cant use the fan heater in there.
There was no Wi Fi room freezing cold draughty windows, we need to use a fan heater to heat room up. Bathroom like an ice box. Room tiny, not much bigger than bed. The room above you could hear them use the toilet and the pipes screeched when theirs and our cistern filled back up. the bathroom mirror was 4 inches round, its a shaving mirror and a small one at that. There rooms are in a separate building behind the pub which is ok but the passage between the two is only lit by a security light which doesn't come on until you round a corner so its pitch black for some of the path.
Very good food
Small room rather old fashioned and very lumpy bed! Stayed here 3 years ago in same room and no improvement
Very good service at breakfast, lady was helpful and efficient and breakfast was very good. Tea and biscuits in room a welcome touch.
Left to find my own way to apartment across from main rooms not easy in the dark as security light not working. Room needs updating, hair in sink and marks on towel. Quite basic.
the atmosphere - welcoming & fun! loved the log fires food was marvelous not too quiet good parking
nothing massive, just the lack of hot water! They had boiler issues after a power cut - never had a warm, let alone hot shower!
Large twin room Excellent food Friendly staff Good value for money
Wi-fi wasn't working Bathroom fittings could do with a refurbish - shower hose wasn't nice and the sealant round the shower base was black in areas
Breakfasts; accommodation, Can be self contained if you want it to be. Upon return from a day's cycling, it provided us with some decent ale, a warm shower. an excellent evening meal and good wine. To finish, sat by an "open fire" listening to the wind and rain.
The staff were all really friendly, the food was fantastic. I stayed there to be near my niece who is at Harper Adams so this was a great place to stay.
The road noise.
I enjoyed the warm friendly welcome. All quEstion, requests were answered promptly.
Convenience and price.
Heating not working in annexe room 8. A portable fan heater not very good. The breakfast we had was not up to the usual standard.
Room/oom in need of som refurbishment
Room had comfortable bed and decent pub food for evening meal. Was able to checkout prior to going to sleep.
As I had to leave by 7 am was unable to get breakfast as nothing served before 8.30 am at weekends.
Good food and friendly staff.
An interesting and quirky place to stay but our room needed an update as it had stained carpet and problem with shower head. This place could be excellent if they spent some money on it as the food is really good. Dead flowers on dining tables show that more care and attention to detail needed.
