Its a traditional old style hotel. If it had some capital investment it would probably be OK for a longer stay. As it is now it is just about satisfactory for an overnight visit. The service, accommodation and food is well below the quality of most hotels. There is nothing actually wrong with the hotel but is not very comfortable and it is not good value for the room rate.

The old world charm. Even the uneven floor in the bedroom convinced us we had had too much to drink! Finding the car park. Even though we have stayed at the Swan 3-4 times we forget where to turn for the back entrance.

My brother saw The Swan Hotel on the television, "The Hotel inspectors" & he booked & wanted me to stay as well. The owner nick named "Basil" was a great guy with a brilliant sense of humor. The hotel staff were very friendly indeed & in this quaint very old warm building was an amazing discovery, it was a lovely building. we slept really well. Breakfast was nice by this ENORMOUS very beautiful fire place, with amongst other things an Auger cooker inside. His pet Labrador was patiently sitting on some steps watching us, so he had half a sausage, it was nice & something you would not get in a standard Hotel.

The room was much better than I expected- coordinated, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly, especially the breakfast staff. Good biscuits on the tea and coffee tray! There was no one on the reception desk so I had to wait for attention at the bar before I could check in.

Breakfast was reasonable. There was no mention on booking that the car park at the rear of the hotel is a half mile drive from the front and you can not park at the front even to check in.The bar was overcrowded with locals having a party when we came in at 9.30pm on Saturday night and the noise went on till after 2.00a.m the next day .Our room was above the bar.We mentioned this to the owner at breakfast and his answer was' he wasnt happy either'.The room was clean but tatty and the drawer unit which housed a small t.v.moved away from the wall by about 3 inches at the top when you stood on the floor near it.Serious problem with the floor here. The shaver light in the bathroom didnt work. This is more a local drinkers pub than a Hotel.

Welsome, attentiveness of staff, location, meals regular drinkers in the bar used very coarse language which made us look elsewhere to spend the evenings. Carpets in our room were very stained and marked which lowered the quality of the room.

Relaxed, friendly staff were very helpful. Just loved our country breakfast in the dining room. Room very comforable, bit noisy being a Friday night and we had to open the windows because of a rare heatwave - not the hotels fault - and I would have to admit it wasn't as noisy as any similar hotel would have been in Australia and they all seemed to go home at a reasonable hour anyway. We were told you had bikes for hire but we were too busy doing walks to even investigate.

There was parking at the hotel. We made our booking via booking.com at 3 pm and headed off in the car, eta 2 hours? An hour into the journey we receive a phone call from the hotel saying they have received our booking but they don' t have the two family rooms we've booked available. Explaining we were enroute I insisted they accommodate us. He said he'd call back. 10 mins later he said he had two rooms with 3 beds in them. I accepted. When we got there he had put a camp bed into each of two twins. As we were staying one night we agreed to stay. The following morning we all awoke early, not only because our room were at the front high st side of hotel which is noisy but the camp beds sagged so much in the middle that I had lie on the one in my room as my 10 yr old daughter could not get to sleep. When it came to checking out the manager asked me to pay £150 for the two family rooms, he was not happy when when I said that I would only pay for two twin. This place is not a 3 star hotel and is falsely advertised as such. If it got one star I would be amazed. It is a dump. They said that there computer reservation system doesn't work well with booking.com's hence why our booking went wrong. Surely booking.com should take them off their list. The only good thing to come from this was when my 6 year old son said at breakfast ' this is like Fawlty Towers on the TV Daddy!' Thi

The public areas of the Swan were interesting, and the hotel itself is very historical. The breakfast was good, with plenty of food and served hot instead of a greasy self service bar. The bar staff were friendly and helpful and the owner was interesting. When we couldn't get a taxi the lady in the bar organised a lift privately for us - something she didn't have to do and for which we were very grateful. The hotel is run down and could seriously do with some tlc. The room we had was uninteresting and no effort seemed to have been made to modernise it. The bathroom conversion was awkward, leading to strange shaped and useless left over areas. The bath was more the size of a tub and the sink taps were old fashioned and dripped all the time. The toilet was stained and could have done with a dose of bleach. The twin beds were narrow and lumpy. The tv was very small. There was no clock in the room. The furniture was old fashioned and unmatched. I wouldn't return to this hotel.

Breakfast & breakfast staff were very good Unfortunately the bar area was less a hotel bar, more a local pub, lots of bad language which seemed to be ignored by the staff, even though hotel residents were about. Flies were abundant, although a warm evening. My room was poorly serviced, bathroom not cleaned, just towels removed, used glass remained unwashed.

Very good breakfast served quickly and efficiently. The beds were very comfortable. Lots of space and a double bed in what was booked as a single room. Access to the hotel by car was confusing requiring you to do a large detour to avoid going the wrong way up a one way street.

Nice old Coaching Inn with atmosphere. Breakfast was awfull. We asked for egg, toast and tomato which was a long time coming and when it arrived eggs were over cooked and swimming in grease. Also the toast left a lot to be desired.

Nothing special. It was adequate for a weekend break but I can't see us staying there again. The fact that the hotel restaurant was closed was a disappointment but there was a nice pub down the road.

It had an old world charm and the staff were helpful I got told off repeatedly by the staff because they thought there were two people staying in the room, not one. Not sure what the big issue was?

The building had lots of character and history. We didn't like the decor of the hotel, it could do with a bit of a revamp.
