Typically we don't like complaining and generally would normally keep comments personal and direct to the owners or management. The reason for posting here though, is that in two weeks we never saw or spoke to anyone other than the cleaners on our departure? The key was in the door on arrival and we left it there on departure... As stated in the positives we had a great two weeks at the property and enjoyed a super family break. Having booked many self catering cottages and farmhouses all over thew UK though, this property is in a nit of need for updating and coming up to the now generally expected standards. It is the little things and the attention to detail that would just make so much a difference. For example matching and full sets of crockery, cutlery and glasses would be good. It was fine and we just got on with it, but the kitchen ware and general stuff around the house felt a bit charity shop bought or hand me down rather than a trip to Ikea or a homestore place - a spend per cottage of £200 would make a massive difference just in the kitchens. Unfortunately the dishwasher broke on day two. Some of the appliances clearly need replacing as they do not work - toaster, dishwasher, kitchen radio, radio alarm clocks etc. The bathroom was fine but with old and cracked lino it could do with a replace. Nothing here detracts from being able to enjoy a great holiday or break away. In a nutshell at the end of this summer season the owners would do well to get stuck into all of the properties and not necessarily;y need to spend a fortune but a few hundred pounds here and there would really bring these up to 5 star, which is where they are pitching. To be honest if that meant the cost would go up slightly we would think that a good thing. They are good but could be so much better.
This property is in a great location. It is a great base for exploring this lovely part of South Wales. It is spacious with ample parking and room for a family. The property was clean on arrival and reasonably well maintained. Wifi was superb and fast considering location. Plenty of instant hot water. On one evening the heating popped on therefore the owners were kind to leave the thermostat do its thing, rather than some cottage where they turn it down or off which we have had a few times before! The private walk on the estate is great and well worth doing. Local pubs offer good value food and the Butchers Arms is the best one to visit.
