Score from 145 reviews Fabulous
Lovely large room with very comfortable large bed. Our towel rail was not working, but was seen to straight away by very friendly man who explained some of the history of the manor.
Hotel is undergoing major upgrade and will be great place to stay. However new bathroom had no shaver point.
The food was lovely. The staff were friendly. Good parking
The coconut style flooring in the room was a bit rough under foot.
Retains its olde world charm and comfort yet provides 21st. Century catering. rooms were spacious not little boxes
Nothing comes to mind
The restaurant food was excellent.
Location. Tatty looks and feel. Outdated facilities and decor. Dreadful waiter. High cost.
friendly welcome, ease of check in. Incredible evening meal, a delight to the tastebuds! Extensive gardens where we enjoyed a drink watching the autumn sun. well positioned car park. Well furnished comfortable room. 100% hospitable
Location was good.
Bath and toilet were dirty. Service in the morning for breakfast was poor.
Welcome warm. Our room was changed at my request to the top floor one I had last visit, and thought I had booked. Restaurant and wine list good.
New coconut matting on bedroom floor very uncomfortable for bare feet. No mirror in bedroom to use when drying hair. Wifi nonexistent in bedroom and very flaky even in reception.
Had a very good laugh with all the staff, Becky you made us welcomed ;-). The village is so beautiful has every thing you need and the Hotel is right in the centre off it all. I would 100% go back next year with my girlfriend.
Nothing on this trip I didn't like... Had the best break for our 1st trip away..
Location ideal for New Forest. Lovely grounds. Pleasant staff.
Superior room not up to description on website. eg. No seating area, telephone, alarm clock, bed throws and scatter cushions. Two disturbed nights with staff moving tables after midnight, and someone returning at gone three in the night.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms had been recently refurbished to a good standard. Shower was good. The restaurant and bar area was well laid out with good views over the garden.Cannot comment on the food as we did not eat in but from what we saw it looked very good.
The hotel has 4-5 acres of grounds which could look stunning but needs some work to bring them back to life. The hotel has new owners and so this is an ongoing project which I am sure will be sorted in time. Front car park looked tiered and had a large pot hole at the entrance again I am sure these will be rectified soon.
Our room was newly decorated and tastefully furnished with an excellent view over the gardens and pool. The food was beautifully presented and well cooked. The staff were very courteous and helpful.
Aside from our room, other areas were 'work in progress' with a lot needing to be done to achieve the owners ambition of a modern above average hotel.
The swimming pool and cobservatory restaurant over looking the garden
New owners but more home comforts required
No shaver point in bathroom No Hair dryer point in bathroom No mirror in bedroom area Rugs required in bedroom area to cover bare boards
Gardens Location near New Forest
Food not too good All public areas need updating
The area and the fact that pets are welcomed. The gardens are extensive and excellent for dog owners. Friendly reception.
Slightly run down in some areas, but the new owners are addressing this.
Nice layout of room. Fresh and modern.
Ten minutes for the shower to heat up and then was too hot. No mirror in bedroom. Rugs needed on floor to absorb noise. Couldn't connect to wifi. Cups for tea and coffee too small. No fridge.
decor, staff helpfulness, accessibility
pool covered up unless you asked for it to be opened
Nice friendly staff especially Niall good luck at uni, pleasant area comfortable room and lounge area overall a bit pricey for what you get cost of wine a bit steep but generally satisfied and would stay again.
Message to owner Tim for gods sake change that dreadfully awful music it drives people away. Wi-Fi very poor in most areas, no phones in rooms very strange for a hotel advert needs attention as misleading in places ie pool heated all year which it is not poor choice of beer in bar.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
The bedroom was very small considering it was a dog friendly room, there was not much room to put a dog bed. Staff made the bed but did not empty to bin during our stay. Thought the hotel was overpriced for the facilities offered.
The food at this Hotel is very good. Bedroom large with refurbished bathroom. Bed was large and linen excellent. The staff could not do enough for you. In particular Niall was very attentive. A lovely place to stay and about 1 mile from the New Forest. New owners since January who are gradually refurbishing the Hotel. We would definitely stay here again and wish the New owners (Tim & wife) every success in the future.
Hessian carpet in bedroom was uncomfortable to walk on barefoot. No handrail in bath (which was lowered into the floor).
Friendly staff. Room was large and comfortable. Hotel full of character. Hotel being updated and it's really paying off. Will surely stay here again.
Building, reasaurant setting, gardens, view from bedrooms and restaurant.
Dinner was not good value for money. Free canopy was olives a nut. Rather no free canopy than, disapoinement. Courses were small portions, not very well preperad.
Staff tried hard to please but there weren't many of them.
Restaurant food was terrible - go 100 yards down the road to the Silver Hind; better food and better prices. The hotel is being allowed to be run down and turned into flats. Overpriced for what it was.
I liked the garden and pool and the view of it from my bedroom (no.4) window. I liked the deco of the room and the bathroom with slate tiles and a large shower head. The food. The dining room. We liked the windows and the thickness of the curtains.
No one offered to carry the cases. The shower was difficult to adjust, wet all the floor and there was nowhere nowhere to put soaps. There was no shaving mirror, light or electrical shaver socket.
beautiful old building, pleasant gardens
rooms not well equiped, no telephone
