The food at this Hotel is very good. Bedroom large with refurbished bathroom. Bed was large and linen excellent. The staff could not do enough for you. In particular Niall was very attentive. A lovely place to stay and about 1 mile from the New Forest. New owners since January who are gradually refurbishing the Hotel. We would definitely stay here again and wish the New owners (Tim & wife) every success in the future.

Hessian carpet in bedroom was uncomfortable to walk on barefoot. No handrail in bath (which was lowered into the floor).

Building, reasaurant setting, gardens, view from bedrooms and restaurant.

Dinner was not good value for money. Free canopy was olives a nut. Rather no free canopy than, disapoinement. Courses were small portions, not very well preperad.

I liked the garden and pool and the view of it from my bedroom (no.4) window. I liked the deco of the room and the bathroom with slate tiles and a large shower head. The food. The dining room. We liked the windows and the thickness of the curtains.

No one offered to carry the cases. The shower was difficult to adjust, wet all the floor and there was nowhere nowhere to put soaps. There was no shaving mirror, light or electrical shaver socket.

    Food and room very good

Carpet, staff were not trained and needed reminding of items ordered, noisy windows, pool tatty and breakfast area not very well lit.

Staff were all pleasant and the room was clean and well presented

    1) We stayed on the 2nd floor - lack of water pressure meant having a decent shower was impossible 2) The bar/restaurant area was soul-less with tired & worn furniture (holes in the upholstery doesn't look good) 3) They need somebody to look at the place from a guests perspective as an over flowing bin outside the entrance door is not good to see nor wilted flowers in the lobby!

Good location Good food Friendly staff Good size room

As paying for superior room it was let down badly by bathroom cleanliness A double bed with only 3 pillows! We only stayed the 1 night otherwise would have complained.

Beautifully modernized rooms (loo seat voted best we've encountered!) Fantastically comfortable beds & bedding Tranquil garden setting Very nicely cooked breakfast Helpful and friendly staff Excellent location, with shops and stunning forest walks nearby.

Dinner (for 3, one night only) was disappointing: portion sizes were good, but overcooked and low on flavour. Coffee at breakfast was horribly weak. Fans not working in restaurant, so room was uncomfortably hot. No toothmugs or facecloths provided.

It was quiet with a nice big garden and out door pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice food.

Whilst the décor was in good order and very clean it could do with being brought up to date

-Relaxed and pleasant environment: beer on the terrace of lovely garden; - excellent meal:interesting menu and very high standard of preparation; - friendly and very helpful staff: lent me mobile phone for alarm clock, and recovered mobile phone dropped down lift shaft! - close to station: I was working in Southampton so being 2 minutes from station on direct line was just what I needed.

location, facilities, room and dining area's excellent, grounds and views beautiful.

On arrival at 4pm my room was unmade, although I was moved straight to another. On leaving at 7.15am everything locked up and no staff in sight to check out. When I left at 7.45 still no one available so left keys on desk and went. Very disappointing in these two respects. The weather was beautiful, the hotel was not full, so I would have expected a better level of service.

The food at breakfast was very good An excellent location Friendly staff

Despite booking 3 nights well in advance I had to move rooms after the first night, which was pretty disruptive. WiFi did not work on the first room. No shower curtain in the first room. The second room had only one small window and was very airless at night. Breakfasts started quite late (8.00 am) and were not well set up. I was almost overcharged on leaving, at a price well over the one confirmed on

The restaurant and staff were very good , the room was nice & spacious

Limited variation on menu, Couldn't find milk in room for tea/coffee no biscuits which are normal practice ( needed to take a tablet early in morning ) towels were a bit old & torn no bath robes for a delux room no shower gel only shampoo no bottled water in room or room service to get one . These are very minor things that would have made my stay a perfect one

The location, the building, the garden, the friendliness. The food was very good. I'm looking forward to this being an excellent hotel very soon.

New owner was working hard to refurbish the rooms as they were looking a little tired. Being a single room the duvet covers are too narrow, although this a common issue with all hotels. It just needs owners to spend a night in each of their own rooms to see what are the best improvements. WiFi access only available in the bar area. Booster units would improve hotel wide access.

Bright clean room; comfy bed; good sized carpark; nice gardens and lovely dining room; tasty well cooked breakfast; friendly staff.

My room booking hadn't been received so there was a real faff with the rooms. They are currently refurbishing so everything was a bit chaotic, but it will be nice when finished. The shower was awful – too hot; too cold; just a trickle.

Good location, accessible to lots of amenities. Good menu, with interesting choices.

Facilities are very tired, although new owner said that a refurbishment is planned, but currently bedrooms and communual are below standard for the rate.

    The food - excellent

General impression of total lack of charm - sitting area not comfortable and no view of garden. Room 5 is no more than a box room with a shower that can only be reasonable for a small pigmie. No hangars, no mug, no milk - very amateurish.
