It was a sad family occasion, the funeral of my sister, but the hotel provided the essential base. My nephew and his family were staying there as well, and this made the experience bearable. The staff were great.
The hotel is generally pleasant with attractive gardens, lounge and restaurant. The staff are friendly.
However, we were shocked to find the toilet needed cleaning and one of the drawers had a thick layer of dust. The floor covering was a type of rough matting which was not at all comfortable to walk on. There was no full length wardrobe. It is very unlikely we would stay here again.
when we arrived there were decorators still working, they finished a couple of hours later and cleaned up very well.
the staff were extremely helpful and polite, the food was 1st class, absolutely gorgeous. the bed was very comfortable
wasn't too keen on the lift, I found this a bit dangerous - one of the old concertina metal door on the inside - nothing to stop scarf or fingers getting caught
My girlfriend and I had an excellent Valentines weekend stay. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff members. I was most impressed with the recent decoration of the hotel, whilst retaining the character of the original features but with a tasteful modern design.
The welcome and the shower.
The carpet in the room was very uncomfortable.
The staff here are very friendly, nothing was too much for them. We have literally left this property an hour or so ago, and stopped for coffee, it's newly decorated and is beautiful, elegant and classy, beautifully clean and comfortable.... Go and stay you will not be at all dissapointed.. Thanks guys.
Wifi was only available in bar area,, really not a big problem though
Rooms lovely, helpful staff
Bedroom an ensuite very cold, no breakfast lovely but expensive, no reduction of £12 for children who ate very little. Resturant a little to expensive. If you were staying for a week it would be extremely expensive, ok as a special treat
Although still carrying out improvements and upgrading once completed it will be an even better hotel.
The only good feature of the hotel was the comfortable bed and the view of the garden.
The radiators had not been turned on ready for our arrival and the room was still very cold on our return at 2300 hrs. Dining room was cold and drab, breakfast poor, service poor, which caused us to cancel our breakfast the following day. One would never have known it was Christmas by the lack of decorations with the exception of a tree in the corner of the bar without any lights. The hospitality tray contained only enough milk for one cup for each of our 2 night stay.
Lovely large room with very comfortable large bed. Our towel rail was not working, but was seen to straight away by very friendly man who explained some of the history of the manor.
Hotel is undergoing major upgrade and will be great place to stay. However new bathroom had no shaver point.
The food was lovely. The staff were friendly. Good parking
The coconut style flooring in the room was a bit rough under foot.
Retains its olde world charm and comfort yet provides 21st. Century catering. rooms were spacious not little boxes
Nothing comes to mind
The restaurant food was excellent.
Location. Tatty looks and feel. Outdated facilities and decor. Dreadful waiter. High cost.
friendly welcome, ease of check in. Incredible evening meal, a delight to the tastebuds! Extensive gardens where we enjoyed a drink watching the autumn sun. well positioned car park. Well furnished comfortable room. 100% hospitable
Location was good.
Bath and toilet were dirty. Service in the morning for breakfast was poor.
Welcome warm. Our room was changed at my request to the top floor one I had last visit, and thought I had booked. Restaurant and wine list good.
New coconut matting on bedroom floor very uncomfortable for bare feet. No mirror in bedroom to use when drying hair. Wifi nonexistent in bedroom and very flaky even in reception.
Had a very good laugh with all the staff, Becky you made us welcomed ;-). The village is so beautiful has every thing you need and the Hotel is right in the centre off it all. I would 100% go back next year with my girlfriend.
Nothing on this trip I didn't like... Had the best break for our 1st trip away..
Location ideal for New Forest. Lovely grounds. Pleasant staff.
Superior room not up to description on website. eg. No seating area, telephone, alarm clock, bed throws and scatter cushions. Two disturbed nights with staff moving tables after midnight, and someone returning at gone three in the night.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms had been recently refurbished to a good standard. Shower was good. The restaurant and bar area was well laid out with good views over the garden.Cannot comment on the food as we did not eat in but from what we saw it looked very good.
The hotel has 4-5 acres of grounds which could look stunning but needs some work to bring them back to life. The hotel has new owners and so this is an ongoing project which I am sure will be sorted in time. Front car park looked tiered and had a large pot hole at the entrance again I am sure these will be rectified soon.
Our room was newly decorated and tastefully furnished with an excellent view over the gardens and pool. The food was beautifully presented and well cooked. The staff were very courteous and helpful.
Aside from our room, other areas were 'work in progress' with a lot needing to be done to achieve the owners ambition of a modern above average hotel.
The swimming pool and cobservatory restaurant over looking the garden
New owners but more home comforts required
No shaver point in bathroom No Hair dryer point in bathroom No mirror in bedroom area Rugs required in bedroom area to cover bare boards
Gardens Location near New Forest
Food not too good All public areas need updating
The area and the fact that pets are welcomed. The gardens are extensive and excellent for dog owners. Friendly reception.
Slightly run down in some areas, but the new owners are addressing this.
