Score from 172 reviews Very good
great location excellent breakfasts
no wifi for the 3 days we were there was told there was a problem but very inconvenient.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. And I liked the older, rambling building.
Wifi wasn't working.
The location is ideal for me for the weekend local to town and to the college.
No bad experiences.
Helpful staff, cosy room and very nice breakfast. Plenty of parking and not too far to walk to the town centre.
Decor very dated and en suite rather mouldy. Free wifi didn't reach the top floor apparently.

Staff very friendly and accommodating breakfasts were excellent very enjoyable stay
Nothing but room very warm
The room was lovely and clean. The bed was nice and comfortable. There was a lovely hospitality tray that was replenished every day. The breakfasts were excellent and beautifully served.
The bathroom was a bit small and the fixtures and fittings were a bit old and worn. The soap dispensers in the shower were empty and the soap dispenser on the wall fell off. There were no towel rails for bath towels.
As a single guest I had a small room, but everything that I could have required was present, and overall I was extremely comfortable. The room was extremely clean, had en-suite facilities, loads of hot water and big towels. The staff were very welcoming to my dog and very helpful with directions when I asked. Breakfast was excellent. Overall wonderful value for money.
Décor dated but that's really just personal taste!
Short walk to town centre
The sour milk at breakfast. The 3 flights of stairs. The busy corner traffic and all night street lamp.
Location was only a 10 minute walk from the town centre & the breakfast was amazing. Worth the price, which was cheap, just for the breakfast alone. The rooms weren't great but what you'd expect for the price
Location to Shrewsbury centre Free carpark Great breakfast Wifi worked well
Nothing I didn't like
The staff were very helpful. We would especially commend Caroline for her pleasant and helpful attitude. The food was very good and they were able to cope easily with our vegetarian requirements without advance notice. We also enjoyed the warm rooms Food
Closeness to amenities
Room size a bit small but ok
Location - 10 minutes walk from the city centre Off-street car parking Nice room, big fluffy towels, comfortable bed Excellent breakfast - and lots of it!
Location close to town Breakfast
Room (at very top of building) was very hot - couldn't turn the heating down and got back from town too late to ask for help. Slept (well, tried to) with the window open - my God was it noisy on a Saturday night - traffic didn't stop (even though it's away from the main road) and woken at c. 3am by drunks shouting and fighting... :-(
Loved the welcome from the duty staff member, a young lady put in charge while the owners were themselves away on holiday. She was very helpful and informed me of all I needed to know. I liked the room which had two street views adjacent to each other, it being on the corner. There were 3 local pubs close by, 2 of which I visited. Breakfast next morning was good, I had a choice from the menu which could be varied according to what was required/fancied. Again, a very helpful staff member.
Well located. Comfortable bed. Clean room. Very quiet place. Free parking. Good breakfast.
Small room but it´s an old building with style. Internet is ok , but some little interruptions
breakfast was nice although our toast was forgotten
Rooms are very old fashioned and very small nowhere to put toothbrush etc in the bathroom other than a tiny shelf over the loo very unhygienic. Not really the quality I am used too regardless of the price
The room was acceptable
The booking was for two people as specified on booking.com and I was told the price previous to going. After we had already spent the night I got told I'd have to pay more and they changed the price. The manager was an elderly gentleman and was completely unprofessional. Customer care is definitely not top of the list at this hotel. He called me a grumpy young girl and implied I was stupid by saying no one had done this in the twelve years he was there and it was just me. He was strongly unprofessional, rude and quite clearly showed lack of due diligence. His puerile behaviour reflected badly on the hotel and I would definitely not suggest anyone stay here.
great breakfast friendly, helpful staff, quietness location
mattress very uncomfortable ruined my holiday as it effected my sleep and caused pain to my back. Staff said they could not change mattress or change my room. Black mould inside shower, staff did remove that, also the black dirt around the shower head.
Staff are lovely, they really are helpful over and above the expected,I will be staying there often
If you need a taxi before 9am order it the day before,
Breakfast - not stingy with portions and quality ingredients. Room provided everything we required for a comfortable stay. Overall quality of service excellent especially considering the modest price - no corner cutting.
Maybe a little too generous with heating in rooms!
Very clean. Bedroom lighting suitable for comfortable reading. Parking. Breakfast freshly cooked using good quality ingredients. Traditional local opposite selling real ales.
No complaints at all.
Very good breakfast.
Absolutely minute room. Tiny single bed just squeezed in and an en-suite shower and toilet where, frankly you could hardly move. This should really be advertised as a Small single room. The house has a rather gloomy dank feeling and musty smell too. Poor value.
Shower was not very powerful or modern
