Comfortable hotel Friendly staff Beautiful setting

High quality furnishings and fittings, imparting an excellent ambience in a well-refurbished classic country house. The service was classy.

The heating system seemed to be weirdly programmed. Nothing in the mornings or evenings, but roaring away at 03.00 hrs !

Claire, the owner, was eager to go out of her way and make us enjoy our stay. We were welcomed and looked after brilliantly.

Luxury and comfort of rooms and communal areas. This is a superb b & b and the comments opposite are intended to be interpreted in a constructive way. The hostess was charming and we would certainly visit this establishment again.

Nobody to greet us on arrival - we had to wait at least 15 minutes before some body came. The reception tour was then very rushed and lacked useful information. Room lacking some attention to detail eg. An alarm clock which was in obvious need of a replacement battery.

Really lovely house. We were 3 couples and it felt like home from home. Breakfast was great and there was great views straight across the hills! Really friendly and relaxed. Definitely be back next time I am in the area.

Beautifully decorated luxurious and very stylish. Peaceful quiet location.

Sharing a long breakfast table with other guests. Travelling alone I would rather have had the option to share Smaller tables would have been my preferred choice.

loved the country-house feel, and the parakeets in the kitchen. (we had to knock and then go round to the back door to get in)

not enough milk in the bedroom for teas, bit nit picky i know,and i am sure we could have asked for more.

Syon House is a beautiful, stylish guest house in a stunning setting. We stayed for 4 nights and were made to feel completely at home. The breakfasts were delicious!

My stay was wonderfull I felt so comfortable and cosy we had a lovely room and a fabulous breakfast!!! Would definatly stay again thank you

Everything....the owner and staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed breakfast arrangements very much as all guests sat around one large table instead of individual tables, which enabled you to chat to the other guests, There was a good choice for breakfast and was absolutely delicious.

A little expensive for a B&B, not really a hotel..

There wasn't anything that we didn't like.

Friendly and wellcoming, spacious and comfortable. Space to be on your own if you wished but loved the breakfast layout of all eating together. Met some lovely and interesting fellow guests. Including the sometimes vocal locals !

Nothing - enjoyed our stay immensley

En-suite facilities were very good and the setting was beautiful. Our room was quiet. Although English breakfast was prominently advertised other options were available and she was willing to get any requests (e.g. croissants which were excellent). However we would only recommend this hotel with the following reservations:

Room very small for the price - not even room for a chair let alone a desk for writing or using computer. Two cockatoos and two small dogs (sometimes three) had access to breakfast room. On Mondays an evening meal was not available in the local pub - had to drive some way to find anything.

Very comfortable relaxed friendly and quirky. The food (breakfast) was delicious. The building was large interesting historic and stylish. The owner and staff were friendly and very welcoming. This was the best place I have stayed in the West Country which I visit frequently.

I liked everything except perhaps it would be nice to have a bath as well as shower in ensuite.

Relaxed, friendly a good place to unwind. Spacious building, clean. Excellent fresh cooked breakfast -eggs fresh from the hens! The views over towards the sea were superb.

Advertised as Budleigh Salterton but actually in East Budleigh which is a car ride away. Not a problem for us but others might think so.

Beautiful countryside from one side and simple access to village the other, also comfortable and spacious with an excellent shower
