The dining room as there is such a lovely view. The garden. The room that I stayed in was big and roomy, if you pardon the pun. Shower was good. It was very comfortable and Staff were very good.
The décor in the room could be a bit more lighter and brighter, it was a bit dull and dark. One of the small windows couldn't open as the handle was broken, so it wouldn't stay open.
Expected standard everything from this hotel but there's a lot more to it than that: Rooms. Location. Atmosphere and the Staff. Fantastic. Will stay again
Room was mighty warm when we arrived and although we were shown how to adjust it never seemed to get cooler without the Windows open. Sign of great infusion I guess.
Ithe food. & friendly service
The weather was atroshus
Location Had character Friendly staff
Room a bit dated
Spotlessly clean. Reasonable bar prices, almost cheap for a round of drinks. Bar meals were exceptional. Room was top class.
Breakfast was a bit below par for which reception gave us a good reduction on hotel bill. No complaints then.
Our room The ease of taking our dog there The food, both dinner and breakfast
The beds were not very comfortable. The quilts were too thick and heavy.
We had a lovely meal in the evening - a nice ambience and very good quality food.
That dinner didn't start till 7.00 pm as we like to eat early. We were encouraged to have a pre-dinner drink in the bar but we never do that.
We stayed here for one night as we had a wedding to attend in the area which was about 10mins away, we were extremely surprised by this cute place which had amazing views of the countryside from the back of the property, our room was clean and tidy no complaints would defiantly recommend this place to others who visit Melton Mowbray.
Individual and family-run Clean and tidy Secure car park Quiet room
Very unusual layout with additional steps up and down and no lift made access with luggage difficult Contacted by e-mail and offered deal including dinner. However, when we tried to book this the following morning, informed we could dine but were too late for the deal! Seemed unnecessarily bureaucratic.
I booked a standard twin bedded room and we were delighted to find that it was a 'double' room, rather than a small room with two beds. It was spotlessly clean and the shower was easy to control, with plenty of hot water. We were made to feel welcome (including the dog!). The gardens are beautiful. We hope to go again.
This is a very minor critisism, but we were not offered a wine list when presented with the menus for dinner.
Location. WiFi reception
We liked the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, the quality of the restaurant food, the comfortable beds and the quiet neighbourhood. It may well become one of our local restaurants or even a nice place to enjoy a drink.
Unfortunately, throughout the dinner and the breakfast sitting we were plagued by an extremely loud-mouthed Danish man who insisted on sharing his conversation with his 3 female companions with the entire room. One of his companions occasionally joined him in this ambition. It made the dining experience a miserable one for us, at least, although the quality of the meal and service helped a lot.
Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Interesting menu choice - meals presented well and were very tasty. A comfortable Room 6 with excellent bath room.
In Room 6 (single room) a humming drumming continuous noise of a boiler or washing machines but nevertheless I slept well both nights.
Location and character of hotel, room comfort, staff service and food.
Non functioning Wifi in room 6, but OK in bar.
Food was Excellent in the evening, limited fruit in the morning
it would have been nice to have fresh milk so a small fridge would be good, also a bit mean on the biscuits based on the price of the room.
Able to get bar snacks rather than a full meal. Good breakfast. We had a very quiet room.
England as I used to kwow it
Room and bathroom extremely clean. Dining room view was excellent. Staff were all very polite and helpful.
No access to car park after 11.00 pm. Never experienced that before with an hotel.
Friendly helpful staff
Small bath Old decor
Quite good location. Friendly staff.
Fry-up was average but not great. There was a wedding party in the hotel who were kind of out of control and the hotel staff did little to intervene. Fellow diners watching videos and singing over breakfast is a step too far and I would have appreciated the hotel explaining that that is not appropriate behaviour.
We booked last minute for our anniversary after being badly let down from another hotel. What a delightful find, lovely hotel with beautiful gardens, the staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble and the food was also excellent. Would highly recommend and we will definitely visit again.
Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Excellent food.
Excellent hotel with great staff.Food very good.Gardens and outside seating areas spot on.
