Just a 5-minute walk from the historic Royal Mile, and within half a mile of Princes Street, this lively budget hotel is in Edinburgh’s Old Town. It is home to The Three Sisters, a well-known pub that hosts frequent entertainment and events. Dating back to 1621, the Central Hotel retains many original features and is accessed by a historic cobbled courtyard. Its rooms each have a flat-screen TV and on-demand movies, along with tea and coffee-making facilities. The breakfast room and the restaurant retain their charming old stone ceilings. A buffet breakfast is served each morning. Guests can relax outside the hotel, where there is a huge outdoor plasma screen and heated sitting areas. Within walking distance are Holyroodhouse Palace, Festival Theater and the National Museum. Princes Street Gardens and Edinburgh Castle can be reached in 10 minutes by foot. Very basic room facilities, decor was very tired looking and need of refurbishment. However, good value for money, with an excellent inclusive full breakfast, for a centrally located hotel in a beautifull city Tired looking, poor decor, very basic furniture

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really good. We were there on the weekend and the bar was really popular. We had a good time there, but if you aren't into loud music and young kids having fun you may not like it. The location was an easy walk from the Waverly train station, though it is a bit of a climb up Cockburn street, you will have to make the climb at some point to get to the Royale Mile. Rooms could use updating.

The shower was good. Bed was comfy. Room was fairly quiet. Didn't like the hotel entrance, going through the night clubbers. Separate door to hotel would be better. Room on the small side and carpet needs a good shampoo or replaced.

Reception friendly. Location excellent The tv was hidden above a wardrobe and too small and far away to be of any real use. The on demand movies were nowhere to be seen. An elephant must have stayed in my bed as the mattress was dreadful and I kept nearly falling out of the bed although to be fair the whole room was off the level. There was no info on the hotel in the bedroom. I could have complained but my stay was short.

We were fortunate to stay in the newly refurbished room, which was very different but really great. We really enjoyed the decoration and the bathroom.. The hotel was very comfortable and its location near to Edinburgh Castle made it ideal for visiting tourists.

I loved this hotel. The staff was so nice, they helped us with everything and always with a smile. The room was big enough, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spaciously. Definitely to repeat. Everything was perfect

It's a cozy and charming place. Friendly staff, perfect location, huge clean room and contains a good sports pub within the premises. The inner courtyard is an extension of the pub, so it depends what your looking for in terms of quiet hours. The wifi was advertised as lobby only, but if your window faces the courtyard you should be able to pick it up from your room. We had a broken tv and the pipes were a bit noisy. The outdoor pub could get noisy in the evenings...so it depends what you're looking for in terms of quiet hours.

The staff were extremely helpful, mannerly and welcoming. They made my stay worthwhile. The room was small and was not very clean but as I was only staying for one night I was not too concerned. However, the telephone and the tv were not working. These problems could not be rectified immediately so the staff gave me an alternative room within twenty minutes of the complaint being made, but even then, the light on the shaving plug in the new room was not working! I would have thought that this sort of equipment would have been checked every day when the room was being serviced.

Had a great time staying at this hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and comfy. We didn't get much noise from the pub below but we were only staying during the week so I dont know what it will be like at weekends. Definatley good value for money. The only thing is that the room didn't have an iron or wifi but apart from that everything else was brilliant.

Location was fantastic for the bars we were wanting to go to at night, but far enough away from the noise that we could sleep through the night. The hotel is also on a courtyard shared with a popular pub, which was great for the atmosphere and the noise couldn't be heard from our room on the second floor. When we arrived, the lady who checked us in was very unhelpful as regards to parking. She told us that we would know better than her about where to park as she didn't drive, and I later heard her advising a Brazilian family that there was 'plenty to do at the castle, and there's a museum'. I expected a little more information from someone who both lives in the city, and works in hospitality. Our room was somewhat unclean, there was a very questionable stain on the bed throw, which was one of the first things I saw upon entering the room. Our room was visited through one of the days and the bed made properly by staff, however the throw was not removed and cleaned at any point. There were also shoe stickers on the walls from previous visitors, and pubic hair found in the sink.

The location was excellent, being close the the Grassmarket area, and right next door to the Three Sisters bar, which provided good food, and was absolutely packed on the Saturday night. The option of twin and triple rooms suited our group nicely. Rooms were basic, but functional. I'd definitely use this hotel as part of a group booking in the future. Definitely one for students/young people with the Three Sisters bar right next door with the open courtyard I found the beds a little firm, but still slept well. No iron or ironing board in the room
