It is obviously under restoration and everything was clean and tidy. The food was good and the staff were more than helpful.
The room was so cold when we arrived and did not heat up until we went to bed. Also the peeling wallpaper did not give a good first impression.
Character and features with a very good location for the numerous bars.lovely breakfast with lots of choice.
The delicious food, friendly staff & the lovely old building.
Nothing to dislike.
Wonderful place, will stay again next time I visit the area.
quirkiness,cooked breakfast was good
on arrival had to look for owner to check us in he wasnt very welcoming he didnt say hello just looked at his watch cause we were early it was cold, pastries, bread were hard unless toasted.crunchy nut cereal packets out of date,
The room was cold, one heater plugged into an extension lead, no hot water, Mold in the bathroom. Everyone sat in their coats at breakfast. Should have stayed there four nights but after going back there second night left because no improvement, don't stay, web site description not correct.
The problem was resolved.
We were lied to ~ said the heating was on a timer, but actually the heating was not working. Not good for my partner who is recovering from Leukaemia.
This is very easy place and close to town centre. Room is very nice and really look huge room. Beds are very clean and bathroom is very big but shower is problem. Wardrobe is problem with rail is falling off. Breakfast is really taste good.
Heating with electric with plug but unfortunately no heating from radiators.
Heating in the room very poor
The hotel was absolutely freezing. There was no heating on throughout the hotel. I stayed in room 14. It had the old radiators in the room none of them was on. The room was quite large, they left a small mobile radiator in the room which was too small to heat the room. Doors closed @ 11am which we had a key for, you couldn't use the front door we had to use back door. Which was walking up top the street turn left down another street then another left turn. This was unfair with the weather hammering down with rain.
Central location, good breakfast, hotel has great character. Fantastic value for money.
very good location
central heating in the bedroom and bathroom were not working also not in the breakfast area
The Talbot has a lot of character, wonky staircases and corridors, which we loved.
We were in the bridal suite which was lovely apart from the toilet didn't flush and there was no heating apart from an electrical oil radiator which left the room quite chilly.
Wifi was good. Breakfast was ok. Lots of hot water.
No heating. Drunk receptionist. Eating areas freezing. Wallpaper peeling in rooms. Windows rotten nearly through and panes broken. Shower door wouldn't stay closed. Air lock in the pipes felt like the toilet was going to blow up. Filthy everywhere. I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me, it was utterly dreadful.
It was available Staff friendly
Tired decor Tidiness
Acorn antiques, quorky
Old fashioned but nice. Good price & excellent breakfast. I would stay again anytime.
Central location..on site parking
Central heating needs attention. .
Staff tried their best
Room was cold on arrival Bed was lumpy
I emailed over a week ago to complain about our stay and they still haven't contacted me!!!!
Room size was excellent, bed comfy and the carvery in the bar that night offerred fantastic value for money.
Des[ite complaining 3 times to reception that the heating in the roomand bathroom were not working nothing was done. We had found an electric radiator with a wheel missing in the room when we arrived. By keeping this on continually at maximum we were able to take the chill off the roombut not the bathroom. This tempered an otherwise enjoyable overnight stay.
would be nice if there was more milk and coffee in the room.
Pretty much everything else.very dated, needs lots of TLC.
Tiny cramped room Lack of hot water
