Love the quirkiness and 400 year old ambience of the place. The room was cold but staff quickly found a heater for us and that solved the problem.

location and staff. room could have done with a coat of paint.looked like it had had some leaks by the looks of the damp patches.i asked for the tv to be changed as it was old and made a buzzing sound. i only wanted it for the news and weather in mornings but it was very irritating.and it wasn't changed.

The Staff were Excellent. Breakfast was Excellent. There was a bit of noise from the street outside, but we are used to this at home so it did not disturb us.

Its quirkyness - very old and creaky! Lots of levels - friendly owner/manager. Full of history and character Breakfasts were made early and kept hot under a heat lamp so poached egg went hard and mushrooms got a bit wrinkly! Shower not working very well but hey! it's very old!

Fantastic old building in the heart of the town Bed uncomfortable, old TV with only 3 working channels, glass panel above the door let in light from the corridor rendering sleep impossible, no Wi Fi in bedroom (despite claims there was) and the cooked breakfast wasn't worth getting out of bed for (the continental selection however was very good).

Onsite parking - bit busy but found a space , was very useful as parked earlier and looked about before checking in at 2pm. Staff gave us a parking permit. Bedroom (19) was a lovely feature room with wooden bed and furniture. Had a nice panel out of the wall feature which showed its age/ date of the building which was a nice touch. Comfortable bed, clean. Basic but adequate tea/ coffee facilities in room. Breakfast was self service and an ok range of juice, fruit etc. even apple pies?! Full english as part of room stay was ok. On arrival noone at the Reception desk. Had to use phone to call which ended up being a member of staff in the bar. Seemed unattended most of the stay. Bathroom extractor fan didn't work. Tv was very dated and not perfect picture (but didn't watch it much). Quite a nosiy room (from outside - party revellers, PO alarm going off twice in the night). During check in, we were not told about any dining options at the Hotel. We saw adertisements for Thai night, but didn't see any evidence of where to go to eat? Ended up eating out. English breakfast was ok, but no black pudding as adertised, and I was looking forward to. Egg overdone. Staff not that friendly.

The age and atmosphere of the room/building. Bar/waiting staff (one young male ) very pleasant tv would not work. Room very cold for some hours. Manager ok but not overly helpful - he knew about these problems previously but has done nothing about them - expecially the TV Is a pity with not too much effort this could be an hotel to recommend

Room 9 was very nice, big and airy and full of character. Room 10 was small and needed some redecoration. Patches on the walls which I imagine were once damp but were dry on our visit.

Just about everything! My colleague came off worse, his room had mould growing in his room. When he showed a photo of this to the manager he was told "i've been away for a week, I'll get maintainence to look into it"
