The hotel was absolutely freezing. There was no heating on throughout the hotel. I stayed in room 14. It had the old radiators in the room none of them was on. The room was quite large, they left a small mobile radiator in the room which was too small to heat the room. Doors closed @ 11am which we had a key for, you couldn't use the front door we had to use back door. Which was walking up top the street turn left down another street then another left turn. This was unfair with the weather hammering down with rain.
Central location, good breakfast, hotel has great character. Fantastic value for money.
very good location
central heating in the bedroom and bathroom were not working also not in the breakfast area
The Talbot has a lot of character, wonky staircases and corridors, which we loved.
We were in the bridal suite which was lovely apart from the toilet didn't flush and there was no heating apart from an electrical oil radiator which left the room quite chilly.
Wifi was good. Breakfast was ok. Lots of hot water.
No heating. Drunk receptionist. Eating areas freezing. Wallpaper peeling in rooms. Windows rotten nearly through and panes broken. Shower door wouldn't stay closed. Air lock in the pipes felt like the toilet was going to blow up. Filthy everywhere. I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me, it was utterly dreadful.
It was available Staff friendly
Tired decor Tidiness
Acorn antiques, quorky
Old fashioned but nice. Good price & excellent breakfast. I would stay again anytime.
Central location..on site parking
Central heating needs attention. .
Staff tried their best
Room was cold on arrival Bed was lumpy
I emailed over a week ago to complain about our stay and they still haven't contacted me!!!!
Room size was excellent, bed comfy and the carvery in the bar that night offerred fantastic value for money.
Des[ite complaining 3 times to reception that the heating in the roomand bathroom were not working nothing was done. We had found an electric radiator with a wheel missing in the room when we arrived. By keeping this on continually at maximum we were able to take the chill off the roombut not the bathroom. This tempered an otherwise enjoyable overnight stay.
would be nice if there was more milk and coffee in the room.
Pretty much everything else.very dated, needs lots of TLC.
Tiny cramped room Lack of hot water
This is a hotel with loads of character and history. It was nice and warm and comfortable. Very helpful staff. A lovely quirky hotel & really nice overnight stay.
Service and comfort
My room was like a very hot greenhouse to hot for me but no doubt suit others Sat Nav post code gives wrong place
character of hotel with its history
staff very inattentive
everything spoilt my daughters wedding night
No record of booking only a room with a faulty locak available all staff looked as if they were about toi drop from fatigue running a sub-standard opeartion
the location is great. its a very old building.and the staff were excellent.
heating broken down. no shower curtain (had to put a towel on floor to mop up wet).
Nice old fashioned building, but appears poorly managed. Staff friendly. Convenient for town and River Rooms. Booked 3 singe rooms, 1 had double bed, 1 had double and single, 1 had 3 single beds.
1St went in July when it was about 40c outside - to find radiators blasting out heat in rooms. 2Nd time I went (Oct 23rd) cold and damp out, no heating in rooms and window open in room when checked in. Asked at reception if radiators would come on later, was told yes. Breakfast poor, pastries dry and old, sausages under cooked (still pink), bread dry and hard. £40 for single room with no heating and poor breakfast is a bit steep. Both occasions i booked i requested a room NOT overlooking main road, sadly both times i got a room over looking main road. On return to room in the evening, could hear a road being dug up till gone 3am. NO double glazing on windows, so all outside noise can be heard. Light curtains need to be replaced with darker/blackout curtains. Allow too much light in. Not told on 2nd visit when breakfast was, when check out was, or entry after 11pm is via the car park!! Lovely building, but lack of detail/care and attention for guests.
The hotel is clearly old and need of some work, but the room was clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful at a very low price, what more could you ask for
Parking is good staff all very friendly food nice and a good price and a good nice sleep in a comfortable bed ending with a nice breakfast
Hotel very old in need restoration but not easy as I think the hotel is a listed building. Trevor tamworth
Hotel was old and had a neglected feel. The mattress in the bed was very thin and uncomfortable
