History and charm, great food
The staff were excellent. The hotel charming both in looks and location. The food we had was very good, well presented and fresh. Our bedroom a twin, lovely and clean and warm.
Having to check out!
Oundle is a great town and talbot ouse character
Room reeked of damp and in my opinion should not be let out. Could not use bath as water didn't get hot enough. Will didn't work (reception admitted that work was being carried out) so this may no longer be an issue. My impression was that room was too far from router and suffered weak to no signal. Windows not double - glazed and builders working in lane outside room may as well have been in room with me. Hotel is lovely, but unfortunately room didn't do it justice
Historical theme. Excellent breakfast
Green light permanently on in bedroom. Limited dinner menu options
Everything except the WIFI and phone signal.
WIFI and phone signals were very poor.
The frontage belies the standard and size of the hotel. Our room was very comfortable and furnished to a very high standard. The newly fitted bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom and there was also a useful study/dressing room. The room rate was very reasonable. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast was included. Restaurant staff were very helpful.Would definitely stay again and recommend to a friend.
Location, lovely room, good food, friendly/excellent staff nothing to much trouble, that little extra touch for special occasion.
Nothing to dislike
The food was excellent
The ground floor room (407) was rather stuffy and opening the window meant that one had the noise of the kitchen's refrigeration fans! Not conducive to a good night's sleep.
We were welcomed by the front desk both very pleasant . We were early and our room wasn't ready for us, they were able to change our room to accommodate us . The room was very nice and clean. We had booked a table for dinner, which was double booked but the staff managed to get in another part of the hotel and we had a very enjoyable meal . Staff very attentive.
We were disappointed in the way breakfast was organised, it was a long wait to get coffee, no offer of toast. We seemed to have remind the frequently. Once breakfast eventually arrived all was very nice! I would say they was not enough staff on duty at breakfast .
Comfortable, quiet room with good facilities. Great restaurant at good prices, everything you need on a business trip.
Ideal location for what we needed, friendly staff, very good breakfast, excellent value.
Room food and bar staff
Beautiful building, set in a lovely small town. The quality of the food in restaurant was excellent. Very friendly and polite members of staff across the hotel.
The shower in our suite setting off the hotel fire alarm.
fantastic hotel,superb value
staff, rooms, reception staff accommodating on arrival , whilst no menu in the room they were most helpful, when I ordered room service, in the evening.
slightly picky but I prefer side plates for toast and it to be cut prior to arrival at the table. rather than a slice of toast on a plate. To be fair if I had raised it with the staff I am sure they would have been more than accommodating.
Pleasant, friendly staff.
I didn't like the fact that there is no bell by the main entrance. We arrived back late and had to bang on every door and then on the window of the bar to be let in. And I had specially asked before we went out if it would be a problem. The night porter was very apologetic but it wasn't his fault that he had had to man the bar. Also, I didn't expect to be woken up by knocking at the door when newspaper was delivered.
Staff were excellent and very helpful. Food was very good and restaurant was light and roomy.
New upgraded accommodation, Oundle, The Ship Inn, Talbot bar staff. Reception staff. Breakfast staff. Lovely Heritage Inn.
Restaurant Manager (Dinner) lacked finesse and appreciation of what "service" means. Needs to go back to Catering College for a refresher as a matter of urgency.
The staff were great extremely helpful and nothing was to much trouble would def go back
Outdoor spaces lovely and the too. Was very cosy / comfy bed with good bedding
Could have done without the cheap Halloween decorations / also the coffee counter in front of the restaurant somehow spoils the entrance
Quaint, quirky, historical, great food
The setting of the Hotel The very helpful staff delightful room little extras As the room was very warm the bottles of cold water were much appreciated Breakfasts were of a very high standard
Lack of fresh vegetables with the evening meals. The Turkey & Ham Hock Pie meat was very tough and the leek/onion not well cooked. very disappointing. Fan in bathroom very noisy also noise from across the court yard a laundry I believe. So we did not sleep very well. Reported to the staff and they said they would have it checked
Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, stunning building! The food was amazin
We were celebrating our engagement & the fridge holding the sparkling wine & champagne was broken so we settled for white wine.
The buildings, the staff & the ambience
Thanks to Helen for putting up with us whilst working on the bar. A good girl!
