Lovely location in historic town. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable bed. Helpful reception and restaurant staff

Limited parking. Late night access was a bit poor - locked up both gates pretty early by our standards. Had to call out night porter for access. Bathroom a bit tired.

We used to visit the Talbot quite frequently several years ago but it was getting rather tired, It was a delight to revisit the refurbished Hotel recently - they have done a great job and everything is good. The food is excellent!

We had a noisy couple of chaps in the room next door but this wasn't the Hotel's fault and they quitened down before we got around to complaining! A fridge in the room would have been useful, too.

Lovely clean, quaint and welcoming hotel. All staff were so helpful, checking in, bar staff and the restaurant teams. We only stayed one night, as visiting the Bird Fair at Rutland Waters, however would recommend this hotel to all travellers wanting a hotel that offers excellent accommodation and food. Next time we visit we will extend our stay at Talbot Hotel. Great to meet Suzie! Sirloin steaks and sea bass were excellent, as was the breakfast selection the next morning. Thank you for a very stay.

So pretty! History of the place; architecture, decor; food is excellent. Beds very comfortable. Location ideal for visiting our family. Safe parking for the car.

The shower is a nightmare to turn off - happened both years we have stayed there now! Very hot this time in the bedroom during the night. Internet slow and patchy.

The beakfast was very good lots of choice.

Stayed in room 412 which had a strong damp smell to it, and backed onto a new build, builder woke us up early unloading cement mixer other than that we enjoyed our stay.

Friendly staff Huge bed in Feature rooms Huge bathroom Good food

Breakfast a bit underwhelming re the buffet selection - scant pastries both mornings, no freshly squeezed juice, no option for semi-skim milk No mirror in bedroom for styling hair Chardonnay out of stock Some staff seemed a bit inexperienced (tho friendly)

Old fashioned village centre inn. Good food, real ale and we were able to dine in the courtyard

Probably due a refurb. Some of the carpets and furniture are old

I left my luggage with reception in the morning who were going to place it in my room, when I returned at 1am, it wasn't in my room and the night staff (took me 10 mintues to find someone) were not aware it had been left. Finally found it unattended in reception in the corner

Oundle is a charming town and the Talbot is ideal both in terms of location and character. We stayed one night and had lunch, dinner and breakfast at the hotel - all good too.

Location - very central to town of Oundle so we were able to wander and explore without getting into a car. Beautiful location - Oundle and the hotel itself are stunning - loved the historical connections to the local area. Hotel layout was unusual but in a good and interesting way. Excellent choice of wines and local beers. Very good breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful.

No air conditioning but we were there at an unusually hot and humid time of the year. Used toiletries and towels not replaced during a 3 night stay. Noise from a wedding on the Saturday - crying/shouty Bride in the room underneath us - probably down to too much alcohol and high emotions! This was nothing to do with the hotel of course. A small fridge in the room would have been useful because of the very hot weather. Otherwise no complaints.

location, staff, breakfast, nice room, cleanliness, car park

the doors shut really noisy, I would have preferred a room on the first floor, room facing the inner court, very noisy due to young children screaming and running around but nice in the evening.

Generally a well run pleasant hotel will return

Breakfast was OK but I know the chef has to prepair for which is the most difficult meal to cater for but fried eggs should be cooked to order. Otherwise no problems

The nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. I am working in Oundle for several weeks and needed somewhere to stay before my accommodation became available. In previous years I'd stayed in Peterborough but staying in Oundle is miles better (no dirt, noise or chavs). I can not recommend the Talbot more highly! A fantastic place to stay!

Nothing - the nicest place I've stayed at.

The food and the choice of eating areas. Having a cooked breakfast rather than a buffet. Room overlooked the garden which was pleasant and quiet.

Difficult to find a space in the car park on arrival about 4pm and impossible on returning from Ely at 6pm the following day!

Fantastic Hotel and staff. Best breakfast ever. Great area and town/village not too busy.

Due to great weather , room was very uncomfortable. Even with the fan from the wardrobe and Window open. Hope we are just as unlucky with the weather next time!!! ;-)

We were particularly pleased with the impression from all staff we encountered that nothing was too much trouble - and always with a smile. Especially, but not only, when we asked them to accommodate four unexpected visitors for breakfast

Nothing we didn't like, although I suspect that parking could be a problem sometimes.

Buildings oose history yet are very comfortable and well sound proofed, not aware of other guests. Staff were open, friendly and efficient. Room very nicely furnished, comfortable and decorated to a high standard. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a good sized TV, hairdryer and nice toiletries and had good bath and shower. The breakfast was varied and beautifully presented. A homely feel n the restaurant which has a beautiful new mural and a good range of drinks available in the bar. Superb looking patisserie, no time to sample this time! We would definitely stay again.
