We don't go away very often and so I spent days over Christmas trawling for the right Snowdonia accommodation. We wanted to be near Mount Snowdon but not in the thick of any touristy bit. Tan-Y-Foel could not have been more up our street. It is a gorgeous, low-key but super quality place and very easy to settle into quickly. The owners Maria & Chris were just brilliant. Every possible detail was provided for in a light touch way and they even leant us some petrol to tide us over to a garage after we arrived on empty during a stormy night! Our gorgeous 'oriental lily' room had a separate door and porch area to the main house and because of it we felt totally at ease coming and going before and after our walking to exploring the area. The bed was absolutely heavenly and the bathroom was extraordinarily clean with some lovely toiletries. We had everything we needed and wanted including biscuits (!) and it was so easy to switch off here. We don't have masses of heating at home and so we can often feel overwhelmed by hotel conditioning systems but there was enough provision to heat our space exactly how we wanted to.. namely a blast when we first got in from the mountains to warm us and then we could turn it right down to sleep. And boy did we sleep! Such a good bed. I know I mentioned it already.. but seriously- wow! Breakfast was absolutely delicious too and a nice opportunity to grab a quick chat with Maria who was genuinely warm and funny to boot! She had some great recommendations for the local area and we were super grateful to Chris who cooked the amazing food. All in all- we were SO pleased we stayed here over anywhere else it was just a total pleasure. Thank you for having us!
A luxurious & beautifully maintained country house with stunning views. Excellent quality of food at breakfast.
We stayed in the Retro Room for two nights. A fantastic located little country house only 5 minutes drive or so from Betws-y-coed. The hosts were welcoming and attention to detail was particularly refreshing. It was just the right place to come back to after a long day walk out in the hills, our walking boots were even whisked away to spend a night warming by the hosts fire. We would definitely recommend Tan-y-Foel to friends and a return visit will be made.
There was nothing about our stay that we did not like
We stayed for two nights in a charming and beautiful house hidden away in a stunning location, such views. If walking is your thing there are plenty of walks nearby. No shortage of eateries in either of the nearby villages. Breakfast was easy and relaxed with plenty on offer and good quality. The room we stayed in was big and comfortable and beautifully styled.
Mobile phone reception not the best.
Great hosts Comfortable room Great views Short drive to Betws and other North Wales attractions
Coming home :(
Welcome and attentiveness of hosts
- very good and clean rooms - good breakfast - nice talks and recommendations
All was best . Owner was helpful at all time
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay an Tan-y-Foel. The accommodation was very comfortable, the breakfasts excellent and the environment relaxing after a day of exploration of the area. This is a beautiful part of Wales and there is plenty to do and see. Maria and Chris (+ Pippin) are warm and welcoming hosts. We highly recommend Tan-y-Foel.
The view from this location is stunning. The owners were extremely helpful and quite friendly.
Great location, relaxing atmosphere, we had a very good time !!
The GPS coordinates needs update. FYI, according to my TomTom, it shows N 53.09626, W 3.77104.
the personal welcome and exceptional views were highlights. Excellent base for exploring Snowdonia. The service and lovely breakfast sets you up for a day of walking or complete relaxation
Everything - clean, very welcoming, lovely breakfast and brilliant setting. A lovely weekend.
Country House was set in beautiful surroundings with stunning views of the mountain range. The new owners, Chris and Maria, were very helpful and welcoming - Chris cooks a good breakfast! We stayed in the French room and that was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again!
Although, we've not given it full stars, there was very little that we didn't like about it...
Good equipped modern room , perfect location, best heartful breakfast and of course nice friendly hosts!!
A little far from the main road car and GPS essential.
We enjoyed everything, location, views, the warm welcome and lovely breakfast. Plenty of places to visit nearby (don't miss Bodnant Gardens) A good choice of places to eat in Betws y coed.
can't think fo anything.
Great location. Fantastic views. Comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Helpful owners. Highly recommended.
The bedroom views
Nothing about the location being so far put the way in other reviews and information pages about the hotel!! Could not go to a restaurant for dinner , because there were none around. Did not feel the need to ask, assumed restaurants are everywhere. Considering it was our anniversary trip... we were expecting more from North Wales generally - information on the internet did not help at all. We made the most of it regardless...we spent so much time and money on the journey , on top of the £290 stay.
The location was amazing. The view from the bedroom stunning. Breakfast was very well cooked and presented. The owners where very nice and accommodating.
Breakfast was delicious. Location is perfect (we were cycling). Bed is mega compfy.
Loved it all!
Very friendly. Quiet location out of town. Excellent in every respect.
