bedroom tiny for price
We liked: The bed & the room. The location.
We didn't like: It is a B&B, not a hotel. We feel the price is excessive. Being charged £8.50 each for a continental breakfast when we're paying £150 for the room per night.
The beautifully furnished, antique home is perched on a hill with fabulous views over the Bath countryside, set in lovely gardens, a short and picturesque stroll alone the canal to the centre of historic Bath. Taking all of this into consideration, the best part of Tasburg House is the staff, all of whom go out of their way to make you feel welcome and special.
I loved everything.
Treated like royalty by the staff. The house and grounds offer a view of Bath that is breathtaking! Sue, the owner was a gem. Would stay there again and would highly recommend to everyone!
Location - beautiful garden. Sue lovely. Nice rooms. Peaceful. Had a fab time.
Lovely house and surroundings.
Not enough information or correct information on transport options like using the bus as I did not have a car. Lovely walk in daylight along canal but not so at night.
Warm welcome, easy to find(directions emailed), good parking, lovely accommodation and gardens. Peaceful. Very attentive breakfast staff and good selection of food. Pleasant 25 min walk through gardens and along canal to city centre or 5 min taxi ride (excellent service arranged from reception)
Nothing. Bath is a lovely location and Tasburgh House is a wonderful place to stay
Staff Quality of accomodation Gardens View at night
Cost of breakfast being additional Early morning traffic noise at front of house
My daughter and I booked this hotel for one night. It wasn't our first choice because it was on the high end of our price range for a three week stay in England, but it was available and rated highly, and we were booking last minute. We loved Bath, and Tasburgh House made our stay even more special, so- very much inspired by our lovely accommodation we stayed two extra nights. The staff are gracious, and very knowledgeable about Bath and the surrounding area. Sue herself is a wonderful hostess, will help you out with anything you may need, including booking tours. Though the rooms are lovely and the beds comfortable, what kept us at Tasburgh house for two extra nights was its peaceful, beautiful location. It was a break from the whirlwind of London, and restored us to carry on with our vacation with new energy. We enjoyed Bath immensely but we were both happy to go "home" to our hotel early in the evening so we could enjoy the gorgeous terraced patios, and read or talk while we watched the light fade over the valley below.
I have no complaints
The location: the large garden is located above the canal. It takes 25mn to be in the center of Bath and the walk is really gorgeous. The beauty and comfort of the house: decorated with taste, it is a place where one can really rest and dream. The owner and all members of staff pay attention to you. The quality of the breakfast: Excellent products, in quantity, served inside the house and on the terrace. There was an adapter for continental electric device in the bedroom. Excellent bedding.
- Such a beautiful place cannot be cheap given the prices in Bath, but precisely, it was a bit expensive. - Many questions asked when we arrived (where we come from, etc, I felt it a bit inquisitive). - That said, I do recommend this place and would go again if visiting Bath.
This is a beautiful house set in 17 acres of lovely gardens leading down to the Kennet and Avon canal. Sue, the owner, is charming and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was very comfortable in the French style. The terrace is stunning with magnificent views, lovely in the evening to enjoy a g and t with the sun going down! Bath city centre is a pleasant 20 minute walk along the canal tow path.
There is nothing not to like!
Very close to Bath on foot through hotel gardens, along canal and into town, aprox. 20 minutes. The staff were wonderful, keen and helpful. The rooms were all decorated and named after great authors, (Shelly, Browning..)usually with a teddy bear situated on the bed, reading the book.
Street traffic was very loud with the window open. Nothing to be done about it, but a room facing Bath would be quiet.
The staff at Tasburgh House were wonderful from the moment we arrived to leaving. I have only experienced that level of attention from very special international hotels. The bed was ultimate luxury and comfort providing a perfect night of sleep and walking into Bath from the beautiful grounds was a very pleasant experience. I could not fault any aspect of our stay at Tasburgh House and will look to return soon.
We liked the gardens and patio, the ability to eat in the open in the garden. It was an easy walk into town along the canal.
We came by car and thought the driveway was a bit steep getting in and out of.
Fantastic accommodation in beautiful surroundings overlooking Bath. The staff are polite, efficient, friendly and always greet you with a smile. It takes about 20 minutes to walk down through the grounds and along the canal tow to the City centre. We will definitely be going back.
Tasburgh House was great in all respects! We treated like royalty. The rooms were charming and very comfortable. The location can't be beat.
The house was lovely with excellent grounds to relax in. A nice walk along the canal into Bath took about 20 minutes which is best with the good weather we had. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all a very nice weekend.
The breakfast was poor considering that it was included, but I had read previous comments about that. You had to pay extra for a cooked breakfast. I asked for croissants which was included and we got two small ones when other tables had larger more appetising ones so felt a bit disappointed.
What was there to dislike!
The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough. The room we had was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was amazing! This was our honeymoon and the staff made us feel very special. I can not recommend this hotel more, 10 out of 10!!
The only down side was a walk through the wet grass to the canal but this is something they would not be able to change very easy
A beautifully furnished and decorated Victorian house, with lots of period features. Immaculately clean and very comfortable. I stayed in the 'Dickens' room, one of the smaller rooms, but well laid out and with ample space, including a folding desk. Very good free wifi. Arriving late, I was warmly welcomed and I appreciated the fresh milk for my tea. Sue and the staff were very friendly and attentive throughout my stay, with helpful tips on enjoying the area, where to eat etc. The large conservatory and terrace overlooking the very extensive gardens are lovely, and the continental breakfast was very good, and set me up for the day. I look forward to staying again.
Hard to think of anything to improve. The house is kept rather warm for my taste, and it took a couple of minutes to open the (original sash) window for ventilation.
The view is absolutely perfect - something from a movie. Utterly beautiful gardens overlooking Bath and able to be enjoyed for breakfast, evening drinks, and from the hotel room. The walk into Bath is lovely. The whole hotel is very tastefully decorated and the rooms are extremely comfortable. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful, kind genuinely nice people. Especially Sue and the breakfast waiter. I couldn't recommend staying here enough. It is the best place to stay in Bath without a doubt.
Great location in Bath, excellent staff, very nice place and beautiful gardens.
Room was a little small.
Lovely peaceful setting with beautiful views overlooking Bath, easy walk to shops and restaurants. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Beautiful accommodation with little luxuries.
Nothing at all, it was perfect.
The garden, the breakfast, the friendly staff.
The very dated decor of the Wordsworth room which had a tiny, also very dated bathroom. The bathroom looked like it needed a really thorough clean. A beautiful room size wise in a lovely hotel but it was stuck in 1982 as far as the decor goes. It needed money spending on it.I didn't like being charged £1 for printing off a single sheet of paper for a ticket for Stonehenge. I thought that was a bit mean spirited.
A beautiful house in a lovely setting. The staff and Sue (the Manager) were very accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. A lovely walk down the canal path into Bath City Centre and a short taxi ride back. Car parking available too. Breakfast was excellent; could be taken in the dining room or the conservatory and service was exemplary. Would definitely recommend this accommodation to others.
Nothing to dislike! The only thing I would say is that as it's a steep walk up the main road to this B & B, I would recommend a taxi but it's also on a bus route. A lovely walk down though, particularly through the gardens and along the canal.
