food & service
We originally booked for 4 days as we were going to the Commonwealth games. To actually stay in or near Glasgow was so expensive. We were made very welcome and nothing seemed to be to much trouble. After a couple of days of staying there we decided to stay there for the rest of the week.
fantastic friendly knowledgeable staff awesomely organised breakfast delicious inexpensive dinner huge room one of the best hotels we stayed at during our holiday
nothing, everything was excellent.
Clean and inviting room which was full of charm. Comfortable bed for a good nights sleep after a long day of travelling. Enjoyable breakfast in the morning.
Angle of the roof prevented us from having a shower.
Large room Pet friendly Great shower Nice breakfast
Room smelt terrible upon arrival, had to open both windows to try to air Not once did staff ask if all was ok with my break, not even when checking out
Lovely old building with character and personality. We never would have discovered the gorgeous town of Stanley if we had'nt been looking for a family room available halfway home from Findhorn to Manchester when the Commonwealth games were on in Glasgow and the Highland games were on in Perth. It made a change from the chain hotels we usually book.
Bit more pricey than we would usually spend on a stopover, the double was a bit rubbish. could see it sagged before I even got in. There was no bath but it was still a nice place. The young lady running the place was lovely and it was lovely and quiet.
Good clean room and excellent evening meal, all the staff were very helpful and friendly, I was working and had to leave early so I didn't manage to get a breakfast so I asked if it would be possible to have just a sandwich to take with me and they gave me a full packed lunch, excellent, a credit to Booking.com thanks
No down side, I will stay at the Tayside hotel the next time I am working within thirty miles.
Staff were excellent, and the food and service were exceptional
Friendly helpful staff
No real ale on tap
Still a traditional hotel in fabric and warmth of welcome. Pleasant staff. Good food. Friendly regulars in the Public Bar. The large bath towels.
I could not extend my stay.
It was our third visit to the Tayside Hotel and that says it all. It just gets better each time. Very friendly staff who are there to please.
Friendly, helpful staff.
went to Scottish game fair .hotel 20 mins from hotel.staff very friendly simple food but very good.
there was nothing not to like .
Very comfortable with helpfull, freindly staff.
Friendly obliging staff, wonderful b'fast & dinner. Great place to unwind & relax! Booked in for one night & ended up staying two.
Only stairs, no lift for luggage.
Uniqueness, Hospitality, charm and the pleasure of experiencing something individual away from the blandness of Corporate Hotel chains. A sample of the past in it's build and furnishings, but a delight to be absorbed in old-world splendor. As for the breakfasts, only one word - Fantastic. The bar area was great with so much info and history, and finally, the hard working attentive staff were excellent. They could just not do enough to make our stay great...
Our own dismal efforts in failing to take advantage of the range of fantastic food on offer at the hotel. Must try harder next time.
The room was real cosy and clean, all staff were bright and cheery. Meals from the dining room were from a huge and varied menu and were all good portions and excellent. Breakfast was equally as good with again a huge selection for a cooked breaky. Staff only to pleased to answer and assist with travel enquiries and print off any maps etc. Highly recommend a stay here. Joy
There was nothing to dislike and no improvements required. Can't improve on perfection
Friendly Staff, nice breakfast
Very poor location. Ok for an overnight stay if travelling on to somewhere else. Not 3 star. The room we had needs refreshing. Everything looked tired.
The staff was really helpful and friendly. Made our stay very comfortable.
Breakfast was nice
Location, surrounded by what look like council houses.
Location was ideal for our requirements. Was adequate for the 1 night stay.
Hotel room was dark and dingy with residual smoke smell. Hotel is requiring serious renovations. In it's present condition hotel doesn't warrant the 3 star rating - should be 2 star.
The old character of the building. The staff were friendly and efficient.
The evening meal was pub grub, rather than restaurant quality, and was served in the bar. The wine list was very basic and the Haut-Medoc 2001 hadn't kept well. No cask ales. The room (10) smelt mouldy and the shower unit leaked.
