I stayed here for four nights in mid April. Excellent value at £30 per night, especially in view of the superb full English breakfast (8.00 to 9.30). Very pleasant breakfast room, all tables immaculately laid, cereals, juices and toast, bay window overlooking street and a wall mounted flat screen tv for your early morning news fix. The landlord Phill, a Liverpudlian, is friendly and helpful. He helped me unload and load my car out in the street on arrival and departure, and when on the last day I complimented him on his breakfast sausages he gave me a pack to take home! I did witness him get a little frustrated with some French late breakfasters who came down at 9.45 (but he made them breakfast anyway) but fair do's, he runs the whole plot on his own and has to break off making a bed or hoovering a floor to cook your late eggs and b. You'll be lucky to get a parking space outside, but free parking is available at "The Anglesey" underneath the castle walls five minutes walk in one direction (it's under the same ownership), and a few hundred yards away just outside the city walls at the Victoria Dock in the other. I had a large airy room overlooking the street at the front, comfortable double bed with bedside lamp, slightly passe decoration (heavily textured white ceiling, textured wallpaper in plain beige), wall mounted flat screen TV with built in DVD player. Only complaint - no comfortable chair to watch the TV from, you have to sit on the edge of the bed. Spotless loo just across the corridor, similarly spotless - new looking - showers one floor down. I thoroughly recommend this place and would - and probably shall - stay there again. Access down narrow one way street with little chance of parking just outside unless you are very lucky. (However very little traffic, so you can park outside long enough to unload your gear. The landlord will help). No comfortable chair in the room.

Staff were great and very helpful . Very relaxed atmosphere which was nice If a bit of money was spent giving the place a face lift and making the showers produce some power this place would be perfect

the breakfast, filling and well cooked. having a sofa in my room, the central but quiet location, decent shower being right by the dining room and kitchen, it was noisy. The musty smell to the room. It looked a bit shabby and I would've expected better for the price in January

Very Very friendly hospitality by Mr. Phil. Clearness is outstanding in the Room, the bathrooms and the Breakfast are. Perfect complete breakfast with varieties in cereals! Great location, inside the city ancient walls and very adjacent to the castle. Very quiet place. Nice TV Channels in the room. Boiler, Tea, Coffe, Still Water in the room for free. I must admit, I didn't see anything that I didn't like.

Excellent breakfast. No frills attitude. You get what you pay for. Very happy once again with my experiance at Tegfan. If you like Basil Fawlty, you'll love Phil. Guest House was clean, tidy and cosy warm on arrival. Look forward to staying next year as long as Phil is there. Nothing to moan about if you take into account the price you are paying.

Like many before me had said, Manager Phil is a character - quirky but likeable person. Location is convenient but to first time visitor, maybe a bit difficult to find Church Street. Cleanliness could be improved - stayed 5 days and not a single day did anyone clean up the room nor take away what thrown into the trash basket. Guest have to ownself empty the trash basket every two days.

Friendly manager. Breakfast choice good for size of establishment. Poor car parking. Disabled access not available. Many steps on all levels. Room not serviced for 3 nights of stay. Dust in toilets. Broken toilet seat. Toilet roll holder made out of old toilet toll, wire and covered with kitchen foil. Tie backs to curtains made out of electrical wire tacks Hangers in room could only be used by somebody over 6 foot tall!! Broken shelf-just the brackets remaining. A number of partly used sauce bottles in dining room looked very untidy. The full English breakfast was swimming in fat. The manager gave the impression that he was rushed off his feet and that he was doing you a favour. Blamed staff not turning up for non servicing of rooms.

Paula is really nice and gave me a warm welcome to Tegfan. The manager, Phill, is quite a character but attentive and amiable. My room was more than big enough for only one person and it had tea and coffe facilities which were great. There are three toilets (there was one just outside my room!) and two showers which were sufficient for everyone staying there. Breakfast is full-English style and it's great! Cleaning could be improved, in rooms and toilets/showers, but overall it was good.
