We stayed in Matlock and ate at the local Italian restaurant in town, which was good and reasonably priced.

not a very big place but lots to do!
not a very big place but lots to do!
the heights of Abraham are a must when visiting such beautiful scenery to see when traveling up or down.
lots of lovely quirky shops to visit and great places to eat! perfect for families finding something to do for the day.
It is a lovely cute cottage in a great location. Perfect for a couple. The bedroom was a good size and easily accommodated our two suitcases with plenty of extra room to walk around.
Only a short walk to Matlock town centre. Matlock itself was ideally situated for the activities we had planned in the Peaks/Dales. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything we needed. I especially loved the shower, bath and very comfy bed.
I just wish we could have stayed for longer!
Hodgkinson's Hotel is situated on a busy main road in the centre of Matlock Bath. There is limited parking for 4 cars in an adjacent road and up a steep hill. This is manageable if you have a good level of fitness. You can drop your bags at the hotel first, although you will be on double yellow lines and blocking the road. The Hotel is a beautiful character building, both inside and out, so understandably the interior can look a bit tired in places.
This hotel is beautiful, the garden around it is so lovely and it all lit up in the evening. The staff are really friendly and the room was a good size with a lovely ensuite bathroom. It was so warm in the room with the radiators on all evening that we had the window open in February! The location is great, a quick 2 minute drive into matlock bath and it was all finished off with a really good breakfast.
Great location. It is a short walk down the road to the town and local restaurants/hotels. The station is even closer if you want to go to Matlock Bath to experience the Heights of Abraham or Cromford for the Mill complex. Arrive by train or bus to Matlock Bath and the cable car is discounted. This is a quiet location with welcoming hosts who provide a marvellous breakfast to order.
The cottage is beautifully furnished and full of character-beamed ceilings, roll-top bath, etc.. It is also meticulously clean. The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped with a good supply of delicious snacks. The owner was extremely accommodating when we thought we would arrive earlier than the check-in time. Thanks!
Beautiful cozy little home a short stroll up the hill from Matlock Town centre!
Spotlessly clean with a beautifully fitted out kitchen and bathroom - a perfect little place for a break from it all!
Excellent communication from Judith, the owner.
Can't fault and will definitely be back!
We had the kingside room which had a four poster bed with amazing views of the matlock castle. The bathroom was also very nice and very big with a walk in shower. The food in the hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful and there was a wide range of local ales for sale.
Loved the style of the hotel, fresh decor and peaceful location. Just moments from Matlock bath and short drive to Matlock. The rooms were great- new bathroom and very relaxing ambience in the rooms which were very spacious. Staff were very helpful and accommodating to any request.
Situated between Matlock and Matlock Bath and central for visiting the Derbyshire dales. Within a short walking distance from Matlock bath and it's facilities. Great if your a walker, with walks from door. Clean and comfortable. Helpful and friendly hosts, and a great breakfast.
The Red Lion for us had everything, friendly staff, comfortable room, delicious food, it is a great locals pub and is close to the town centre. We had a great winter weekend escape and will definitely stay here again.
Lovely, clean apartment with all facilities you could need . Situated in a central location to expore Matlock Bath. Fab, comfy bed. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided for you on arrival. Highly recommended!
Fabulous little gem. Great for visiting Gullivers and Matlock Bath. Very clean. We stayed in a promenade room which was perfect for the children to play. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.
