Score from 2159 reviews Excellent
Comfortable bed Spacious, well lit bathroom Friendly, helpful staff
Only a short distance from most attractions, shopping and station
the location, modern decor and the staff attitude.
the climate control in the room which was either hot and stuffy or cold. the bar area which was consistently cold in early December
The friendlyness of all of the staff from the front desk to the restuarant where we dined with a special mention for Justin on the front desk and George in the restuarant who went out of their way to ensure we had a perfect stay.
Nothing to dislike.
Good location and helpful staff. Good selection of bar meals.
Staff were friendly. Good breakfast but not a great choice
Disappointed that we had to pay for parking.
breakfast: good full scottish spread, chef counter to poach and fry eggs etc. served 'till 12 (Saturday) room: good size, comfortable bed, nice clean bathroom
single glazing, slightly eccentric heating (warm enough, but just...) no sleep timer on TV
Its recent renovation has made it quite comfortable, and I would stay there again.
Everything. I strongly complement the staff and management on a lovely well furnished centrally located hotel. I will be back!
Staff cleanliness /food all were excellent
The air con couldn't get it right either too hot or too cold
Piano bar was great!
A bit of a longer walk to the Royal Mile than originally thought. A lot of bins in the road. Great hotel when you get inside.
Big spacious bathroom, huge comfy bed and large spacious room. Lots of room for the shopping bags and kicking off your shoes after a hard day trailing Edinburghs nooks and crannies
The hole in our rooms ceiling! Would expect maintenance to be on the ball in a 4 star hotel. Parking near the hotel but a hefty £25 for 24 hrs.
Perfect bolt hole in centre of the town.
The ambience of the hotel. Clean, modern, comfortable, generous and well-fitted room, excellent service from staff and nice breakfast.
I would have liked a bath rather than a shower.
Big room, comfortable bed, great bathroom, good WiFi, good breakfast, handy location
Not as sound-proof as it could have been: heard noise from cobbled street outside and from rooms either side.
No Bath. Allocated a wet room with no bath and no bathroom work surface for toiletries and make up. On requesting a bath, staff said that we should have asked for a bath at time of booking. Very soft bed offered no support. Breakfast buffet basic and unappetising. Breakfast room very cramped.
This hotel is well situated for visitors who don't mind a short walk to the main attractions - plenty of local buses if you do! The staff were helpful with directions. Breakfasts were ample - we dined out. There are many restaurants locally or in the city centre.
Staff, food, location
Dirty bed spread
- Size of the room - Location - Late check out
- Dirty pillows - See-through door on bathroom - Breakfast was until 12pm, but got laughed at and had to have our own breakfast cooked individually even though we went down at 11:15 - was uncomfortable
The Breakfast was to a very high standard.
Excellent attentive staff, made the stay.
The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel is very central (about a 10 minute walk from Waverley Station).
On balance I didn't feel like the hotel was value for money. The room was fine but half of the lights didn't work and the TV remote was MIA! Not a big deal but I expected better given what we were paying.
It was central, 12 o'clock booking out time ( means not rushing to get up for breakfast). Breakfast was good.
The rooms look nice on site and when you first enter, but once in it looked tired and could do with a freshening up sink in wc was dirty, also breakfast room service should have full menu,
Glass door in bathroom, not ideal for couples.
