Built in 1854, this hotel was once the High School of Stirling. Less than a 10 minute walk from the city’s historic castle, it has an AA Rosette-awarded restaurant and free parking.
Score from 413 reviews Very good
That I could get a single room at a good price rather than the usual double room at a slightly reduced rate. No penalties for being on my own.
I liked the location as it was very handy for the shops & train station
I did not like the bar closing so early as i had visitors who wanted to have a drink and it was only 10 o'clock
Great location and close to amenities. The restaurant food at night was great and the selection at breakfast was comparable. Recommend it to anyone
Good location. The one staff member was very helpful.
Cleanliness of bathroom was poor. Noise of fan going all through the night meant I couldn't sleep for two nights!
The friendliness and attention given to guests of the hotel, by its staff. The choice of food on the menu and presentation was excellent.
The fact that I did not have time to stay longer.
Love the location very close to the center also the room very clean. Every things was excellent during my stay
Good value dinner
Room very warm and unable to open window
Room was comfortable and had all the facilities required.
Was too expensive for the size of the room given that it was small and wasn't that clean i.e. shower tile grouting was grimy, corners of room were dusty. The lad on reception did not ask if I needed a hand up with my case - first impressions count! Waited overlong to have my order taken in restaurant and at reception on a couple of occasions. Didn't really get the impression that they were too concerned about customer care..
Perfect stay, with very helpful staff, location centre to Stirling and easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Mattress was a bit on hard side but most enjoyable.
Good welcome. Convenient location for restaurants and centre of Stirling . Clean and tidy
Service at breakfast was poor . Ran out of coffee and milk and had to wait a while for more . Not many parking spaces so you need to be good at parking . Room was very small and not like in the photos on website .
The location was perfect. Breakfast delicious. Friendly staff Clean room Staff attended promptly to a faulty shower curtain Comfy bed
Room was a little on the cold side for me on arrival.although the heating came on few hours later after discussion with staff Was disturbed by banging doors nearby, after midnight.
Situation and parking were both convenient and the reception staff friendly enough. The room was pleasant - small but not cramped with a good view and a nice en suite which included a bath.
The bedroom was above a function room with an event in full swing when I returned for an early night. I could not concentrate to read with the thump of the music never mind sleep till 12.35am when all became quiet. In future for business trips at the weekend I will phone rather than book online to discuss possible noise and have the choice of whether to book anyway or go elsewhere. I grudged the price considering the annoyance.
Very nice, with very helpful staff. Location is superb for Stirling, good on-site parking and very close the centre.
The price was very high - due to the Ryder Cup, although we were, partly, recompensed by a free bottle of whisky and complimentary bus rides to the Park&Ride.
Early breakfast availability for Ryder Cup spectators. Perfect location for the Park & Ride
Kitchen closed at 8.30 on our first night. Dined elsewhere after that.
Very central & small friendly hotel.
Good staff, nice location and decent breakfast
Hardly slept due to noisy plumbing
The location and the free car parking was a bonus. It was quiet and we had a good night's sleep and the breakfast was fine.
It would have been nice to have been given a welcome on our arrival. We felt we were a nuisance. The water in the basin was slow to disappear and the toilet flush was ready to fall off the wall. We didn't complain about this as we were only there for one night. However, our check out was just as unfriendly as our arrival, which has meant we will not go back.
Excellent location for short walk into town and good facilities and breakfast.
Dirty bathroom, mattress with springs sticking up so had to sleep between them, pillows didn't seem to have been changed in years, very flat and worn, breakfast was poor and dinner in the restaurant took more than 45 minutes for a very dried out burger. Whole place needs a very big renovation
But you cannot beat the location.
Excellent evening meals. Good value for money
Great location 1 minute to town centre and easy travelling routes. Quiet off road location. Really nice breakfast.
Only one thing we did not like was the noisy chiller fan at the back in the courtyard area as it was running all night.
Location is excellent, breakfast is amazing, we stayed at room 6 but also room 1 was amazing, and shower was awesome. Its really safe.
WiFi is week signals at the room sometimes the signal vanishes, the covers are not too clean they put the dirty cover between two sheets. You must leave your keys at the hotel if your going out but that didn't bother us.
The Terraces is a good, simple hotel where the staff make an effort to look after the clients. The unpromising looking bistro is staffed by friendly waitresses and the food is unexpectedly good...try the scallops, black pudding and bacon starter and the salmon with barley risotto...really good!
Clean, comfortable, well situated for town center, brilliant breakfast. Had the lunch/early evening meal which was really tasty and great value, served by well presented, friendly, helpful staff who could not have been better.
Access not easy, but now I know how to get in, I would use this hotel again, it would not put me off.
