Score from 273 reviews Fabulous
staff, food, beer, comfortable beds, good shower
windows not double glazed - very noisy at and after closing time only 1 chair in bedroom
I went there without any great expectations and found a good old High Street pub/hotel, nothing wrong, unpretentious and very willing staff.
parking, very difficult access, probably insufficient
Warm welcome and a good room. Staff very friendly. Shame it might be closing.
Nothing really, except the menu for evening meals not varied enough
The overall size of the bar restaurant and garden, comfortable large bedroom, very helpful staff & great service. Good beer well presented, looking forward to staying again next month for another value for money few days.
Location Town Friendly staff Nice places to eat in town
slightly faded room
Managed to park outside. Our room was away from the main building, so quiet. Staff very helpful. Hotel very central. Good choice for breakfast.
7.30 start for breakfast, 7.00 preferable. Car park space limited.
I liked the friendliness of staff and the tasty Roast dinner
The fire doors slamming. Kept waking me
Very comfortable room with excellent shower
Extremely clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff warm and friendly.
If we were staying again we would request a room with a shower cubicle.
Staff very helpful and food excellent. Lovely bathroom.
no one gave me a key to enter at night.I returned at 10.45 one night to find I was locked out.Another guest let me in but I had to search building for my room key.
The room was very spacious and the beds comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was generous and freshly prepared.
Very poor Wi-Fi coverage, only possible in the public bar not in bedrooms despite stating full coverage was available. Unfortunately a large extractor for the kitchen was next to our bedroom wall which did cause a lot of noise, this was on until the kitchen closed approx 9.30 pm.
The reception was quick and slick. The staff were all very helpful and attentive to customer needs. Meals were well cooked, tasty and wholesome.
Wi-fi only worked in bar area although it was advertised as throughout. Entrance to car park was poorly signed and difficult to find.
the food and friendly staff
they rushed us when dining in the evening eg we ate at 8.45pm and they wanted to close down and go home - no coffee was offered as it would have taken time etc
Good location friendly helpful staff.
No proper shower facility, breakfast ingredients quite poor.
Full length bed (for tall person!), room with considerable character, friendly welcome
No wifi, probably the only quibble
Staff. Esp waitstaff were great. One young man esp helpful getting us directions back to London
Shower. I splashed all over the place. No tissues. Unaware place was not staffed at night. If there was fire or health emergency I had no phone access. Glad I knew about the fire escape but it's a rickety one should we ever even reach it. If another hotel ever c omes you might have to upgrade a bit!
Location ,friendly staff
Friendly and helpful staff. Location in town
First twin room was noisy and hot because it was over kitchen/equipment. Sleep very poor. Were offered second room which was much quiter and eventually cooler - but still warmer than ideal. Sleep better.
Very comfortable beds. Excellent shower. Lovely breakfast.
We didn't sleep a wink due to constant stream of people steaming out of the pubs until way past 3am. This is so unfortunate because it's obviously not the hotels fault but due to this, I wouldnt go back.
Leaky shower (which was fixed)
Over cooked eggs at breakfast !
Staff were friendly. bed was comfortable
Spotted the chef in a filthy chefs jacket. The risotto which I ordered was swimming in fluid
The setting is ideal for a stay near to Rutland Water
Sadly we could not face a second night here. The chillers for the kitchen and cellar are mounted on the outside wall of room 5. The noise and vibration through the walls was constant and unbearable. The staff were very understanding and aware of the problem. As no other rooms were available for our second night, but was possible for the third we decided not to stay nor take the breakfast. The Managaeress was more than apologetic and very professional in handling our complaint, but as she stated they must try to improve this situation as we were not the only people to have found this unbearable. Shame as the room and it's cleanliness is excellent.
Staff very friendly and attentive Comfortable bed and nice little touches in the room. ie: tea/coffee, bottled water, biscuits and chocolates on pillows.
Décor a little tired looking but as the place is under administration and awaiting new owners so therefore understand things are not as they should be
