Stayed there overnight for a family wedding, arrived with little time to get ready and we had been put on top floor, my mum is 80 and I have arthritis, staff changed us to ground floor room without us even asking, were polite, friendly and could not have asked for more. Did get woken at 2am by other people coming into their rooms, but you can't blame that on the hotel, its others being thoughtless. Breakfast time, the room was lovely and the breakfast was piping hot and beautifully cooked, the gentleman who served us was polite and interested in how our wedding had gone, checkout was while they were still serving breakfasts, I rang the bell and he sprung up from downstairs to attend to us. I'm told the shops are near bye, but if you are going to a wedding at the university The Albany is just a few steps away and perfect for that reason but if I were visiting again for any reason I would certainly stay there again

Very comfortable and well appointed traditional hotel which is well located in the heart of St Andrews. Enjoyed a tasty breakfast in an attractive dining room which can be extended out into the garden in warm weather.

The room was bright and airy, clean, and well furnished. Breakfast was included in the room rate, and this was excellent - a wide selection to choose from, including a choice of hot dishes. Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming.

Staff were very friendly, especially the blonde girl who served breakfast. She was wonderful, really lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and she was very fast. Thank you! Our room was a bit small, but still it was very clean clean and very nice. It was a bit cold on entering but there was a good heater in the room for us to warm up, and soon the room was cosy and comfortable.

I liked the age of the building (georgian), the location, the friendliness of the staff and the vegetarian breakfast. My shower wasn't brilliant and the heating wasn't gas central heating.

Great location and friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast room and breakfast. Clean room with tea and coffee making facilities. Though comfortable, room was very small. Some biscuits with tea and coffee making facilities would have been nice.

As I was the only person staying at the hotel at the time, it was a bit disconcerting. However, they had been very busy during the week before with a royal visit to the University. As I said earlier, it was a bit disconcerting being in the hotel on my own so I felt the staff were waiing for me to get up and come down to breakfast - which, of course they were. I was almost tempted to ask them when would be the best time for them for me to come down.I always felt I was being spyed on but, there is nothing you can do when you are theier only customer.

The central location was positive. The hotel is made of tissue-paper thin walls. When people go up and down the stairs, the entire place literally rattles like a drum head. On top of this the door on the room didn't fit tightly on the latch and so rattled extremely loudly when someone went up or down the stairs, waking me continously. The bed was uncomfortable and the tiny bathroom semp damp. Lastly, the breakfast was wholly inedible. The 'scrambled eggs' were uncooked, the sausage was so overcooked it was like wood, and the mushrooms were stone cold. I saw two other tables refuse to eat all or part of their breakfast, and I could not stomach mine either. All this for the price of a premium hotel. Shocking.

The Albany was conveniently located in St Andrews close to shops, sights, coast and University. Staff were excellent, very friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts fabulous. The bedroom was cosy and comfortable and very quiet and the lounge just like a homely living room, lovely. Will definitely stay again. Had a minor irritation with the electric shower which could not maintain a consistent temperature between freezing and scalding! Shower room very small in room 17 but adequate for a short stay.
