Found the accommadation very comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, would definatly book again.
Only problem that I found was the room was too hot, don, t particularly like central heating in the bedroom, turndd it off, and slept well after that
No 1 - all the staff were friendly & welcoming, a real pleasure. Comfortable room. Good beers. Excellent menu, beautifully cooked.
TV was almost on the ceiling! Always got back too late to bag the seats round the fire :-)
The comfort and ambiance was excellent. The meals being served in the restaurant looked and smelled wonderful. Unfortunately our schedule didn't allow an evening meal. The cooked breakfast only endorsed that we had missed out.
That we hadn't sampled the restaurant after.
The room was very warm and the decor and furnishings were high standard. We ate there on the Saturday night and then had breakfast on the Sunday both of which were excellent. Would recommend to dine there.
On leaving no one asked us how our stay had been or said they hope we would come again, this is just a little bit customer service that I think they could do.
Very quiet, tastefully decorated and lovely food with helpful friendly staff
Bed was hard but a very small point.
Excellent food and value for money. Better than the average pub food. Friendly staff and altogether a lovely stay!
Nothing we didn't like
Room was spacious and comfortable, quiet and within easy reach of many attractions. Breakfast was filling
Find your own taxi to go anywhere, staff booked through L and m which is listed in their room information brochure for a 5ml route taxi arrived and took us the long way round then charged £23 for a journey the return of which was only £13 with another company
We were going to watch a group nearby and it coincided with my partners birthday! I saw the inn on booking.com and it had good reviews! The inn it's self was open and very homely! Our room was small but very clean with lots of added touches. We ate at the anchor inn and the food was fantastic as was our breakfast. We will stay here again and have told our friends about it.
It was not a case if didn't like but the service for our meal was slow! There wasn't anything to totally dislike.
The room with a view Quality of the food Civilised times for breakfast availability
Limited choices of alcohol - two of the three real ales [a reason for the choice of hotel] were off, and there was no Campari nor Anise - my wife's first two choices. One over-casual, and so careless, waitress; the other staff were excellent
Overall standard of room that was of high quality that belied the appearance from outside. Very friendly and helpful staff, good choice of excellent food.
car park at side of premises was very dark and made me feel that car was vulnerable.
Food slightly disappointing
The food in the resaurant was very good, as was the real ale. Very quiet so if you dont like noise at bedtime this is perfect.
Let themselves down a little at breakfast. I was the only guest and to be sat in the bar while the floor was being mopped and tables wiped down from the night before, was a little rude (the smell of the cleaning fluid might prove nice afterwards, but it was a little off putting whilst eating).
Excellent menu Th epub is obviously well patronised by people in the vicinity.
Quiet rural location, handy to visit all areas in north east. Room and bathroom very clean with large comfy bed. Proper full breakfasts with plenty of choice to suit everyone, and excellent evening meals. All the staff were very polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Would recommend to anyone and will certainly stay again when in the area.
nothing to dislike
Clean comfortable rooms. Very quiet location Lovely breakfast Friendly staff
Slow service in the dining room
Not keen on food
There is a pub below the rooms and there is a large parking lot.
The bathroom floor was dirty and the toilet didn't flush well. There was something behind the desk in the bedroom which was clearly visible but not picked up by cleaning staff. There was a bed spring sticking out the side of the mattress which was a hazard. It didn't meet my idea of a luxury room as it was advertised.
An extremely comfortable Inn with a great atmosphere. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We will certainly stay at The Anchor Inn again.
The owners the staff the rooms the food the bathroom Coming back with my husband
Spotlessly clean room with very comfortable bed and good amenities. We had an enjoyable dinner and a pleasant breakfast.
The bed linen rustled a lot which was a bit disconcerting. I asked for coffee at breakfast and was given one cup - the offer of a refill would have been welcome or my own cafetiere.
The food was excellent we had fillet and sirloin steaks which were cooked to perfection room was great stunning views clean and plenty of room
Mattress could have been softer or a memory foam topper would have helped
Lovely rooms, good food, great staff
Mattresses are a bit soft
We liked just about everything about this place. The proprietors are very welcoming and they lead their staff from the front. We were afforded a safe and dry place to stow our bicycles. The room was spotless and well furnished. Dinner and breakfast were excellent both in taste and portion. Felt at home there.
The beer that we liked best ran dry too quickly.
The bedroom deco was to our taste and view was over the countryside. It was nice to go downstairs and have a lovely meal in pleasant surroundings.
Nothing to complain about.
Excellent stay for the price, good food and good staff. Would certainly stay again.
