I arrived in time for an evening meal. I was provided with a gluten-free menu by the attentive staff and from it chose what turned out to be a delicious meal. The room was comfortable, quiet and warm and I slept very well indeed. The welcome breakfast was served by yet another friendly and helpful member of staff who had acquired gluten-free bread at short notice. I would definitely return!
Everything about The Anchor was first class . Restaurant and food superb . Friendly and helpful staff .
No negatives to report .
No real problems,/lighting in the bar/dinning room not particularly atmospheric. perhaps some Yougart or similar at breakfast.
Location, room, ambiance and food are excellent and the local pub atmosphere makes you feel very welcome
Value for Money Decor/Room Standard Location
The room was clean and comfortable with many extras such as bathrobe and bottled water. The staff were friendly and helpful. The meals and breakfast offered were very good and the viewes from the bedroom were wonderful
It was a it long winded to get in and out of the place via the car park
The bacon served at breakfast would make me come back!
Like the food, fabulous.
Nice décor, bath robes included. Excellent breakfast, Good choice of beer, what's not to like
1 of the bedside lights didn't work, not a problem though.
Beautiful location beautiful room very quiet and the food is excellent
A good welcome, a superb room, excellent food, and the friendliest breakfast lady in the world! There isn't a reason not to like this hotel.
Really liked the room and also the bar/restaurant area - very welcoming. Furniture in room quite high end which is nice, great shower too. Lovely place, will definitely rebook this place.
Heating was on full blast in bathroom which took a little while to cool down. Fan in bathroom went on and off all night which was a little annoying.
This was a wonderful Inn and restaurant with rooms. The welcome we were given was excellent and the continuing attention to our every need. The food was well cooked, presented and served and the staff could not do enough for us. All the customers seemed to be like part of the family. The Christmas dinner was like home from home with families enjoying themselves around us. The crackers provided were luxury ones with worthwhile gifts. We were pleased to see all the staff enjoying their Christmas dinner at the end of the day. We had an exceptional Christmas break.
Good atmosphere, nice and clean, good powerful hot shower, free parking, good reasonably priced food, lovely cooked breakfast.
nothing to dislike
Found the accommadation very comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, would definatly book again.
Only problem that I found was the room was too hot, don, t particularly like central heating in the bedroom, turndd it off, and slept well after that
No 1 - all the staff were friendly & welcoming, a real pleasure. Comfortable room. Good beers. Excellent menu, beautifully cooked.
TV was almost on the ceiling! Always got back too late to bag the seats round the fire :-)
The comfort and ambiance was excellent. The meals being served in the restaurant looked and smelled wonderful. Unfortunately our schedule didn't allow an evening meal. The cooked breakfast only endorsed that we had missed out.
That we hadn't sampled the restaurant after.
The room was very warm and the decor and furnishings were high standard. We ate there on the Saturday night and then had breakfast on the Sunday both of which were excellent. Would recommend to dine there.
On leaving no one asked us how our stay had been or said they hope we would come again, this is just a little bit customer service that I think they could do.
Very quiet, tastefully decorated and lovely food with helpful friendly staff
Bed was hard but a very small point.
Excellent food and value for money. Better than the average pub food. Friendly staff and altogether a lovely stay!
Nothing we didn't like
Room was spacious and comfortable, quiet and within easy reach of many attractions. Breakfast was filling
Find your own taxi to go anywhere, staff booked through L and m which is listed in their room information brochure for a 5ml route taxi arrived and took us the long way round then charged £23 for a journey the return of which was only £13 with another company
We were going to watch a group nearby and it coincided with my partners birthday! I saw the inn on booking.com and it had good reviews! The inn it's self was open and very homely! Our room was small but very clean with lots of added touches. We ate at the anchor inn and the food was fantastic as was our breakfast. We will stay here again and have told our friends about it.
It was not a case if didn't like but the service for our meal was slow! There wasn't anything to totally dislike.
The room with a view Quality of the food Civilised times for breakfast availability
Limited choices of alcohol - two of the three real ales [a reason for the choice of hotel] were off, and there was no Campari nor Anise - my wife's first two choices. One over-casual, and so careless, waitress; the other staff were excellent
Overall standard of room that was of high quality that belied the appearance from outside. Very friendly and helpful staff, good choice of excellent food.
car park at side of premises was very dark and made me feel that car was vulnerable.
Food slightly disappointing
