Breakfast Friendly and efficient staff The huge bed The view from bedroom window Beer was a bit expensive, about £1.00 more than I normally pay for the same brand. Overall the room probably worth £75, rather than £85 a night B&B. However, it is fine for a one night stay

Quiet location in small village. Car parking no problem Excellent breakfast in the price. Very good evening meal. Bedroom en-suite had ridiculously small basin with no plug, making it very difficult to have wet shave. Wi-fi signal was very weak in bedroom. Restaurant menu was very eclectic and first thought was 'this is a mix, can they do all this to a high standard?' Good news was, they could, so it was just an image-thing.

Staff friendly, cooperative and helpful. Bedroom & ensuite well appointed. Real ales available in bar along with an extensive menu. Close to a busy road hence rooms were quite noisy. Tendancy for staff to congregate on the customer side of the bar which was somewhat daunting on arrival.

The meal at the Anchor Inn is excellent. Breakfast Fab. Peace and quite, never heard a peep considering we were above a busy public bar. Sorry the bed was really uncomfortable, but do not let it put you off this could have just been personal preference. Myself and my husband are both fussy with our bed.

Quiet surroundings, clean and well staffed. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Room was an excellent size. Shower was lovely, plenty of hot water and good pressure. Liked the small touches like bath robes available to use in the room and hair straighteners as well as a hairdryer. The bed was huge but the mattress was "very firm" and I prefer a softer mattress. There was a slight smell of what I think was paint which lingered throughout the upstairs of the building. The room is more than big enough to have some chairs to sit on rather than having to sit on the bed. The television is small, high on the wall and a recipe for a neck strain. My pet hate is travel kettles and unfortunatly my room had one.

This is a lovely guest house. The rooms are spacious and the one we had "Castles" had great views. Very quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pub has a good restaurant and bar area. You need a car and if you do have one then there's lots to do from Newcaslte, The Metro Centre, Durham and Northumberland to local walks and cycling (if you're good on hills!)
