This hotel sits on the quiet southern slopes of Dartmoor National Park and is 20 minutes from the center of Plymouth. It has views out over the South Hams to the sea.
Score from 214 reviews Excellent
The comtemporay of the accomadation. Lovely features
Poor wifi and mobile network
Loved the food and the room, amazing quality for price paid, will happily return. Good happy Hour also!
Only tiny weeny negative was the bath had enamel missing but that would be the only thing could say.
The room was very nice with a lovely bathroom, good value for money.
Breakfast could be a little better, there weren't many continental options.
The neighbours, guests next door eft very early, very noisy and used bad language, not a pleasant way to be awoken.
Beautiful pub, amazing hosts who were very friendly and welcoming. Stunning room - couldn't fault it one bit! Value for money was fantastic! Would definitely recommend and stay again! Thanks so much xxx
Nice stay Anchor Inn at Ugborough in the middle of the green hill coutryside near Plymouth. Village is Close to mainroad. I was the only quest on Wednesday evening. Bar was very quiet.
Clean, tasteful, good breakfasst
Lovely rooms with a great wet room and shower. Very close to Dartmoor, arrived just in time for happy hour which was definitely a bonus. A lovely inn with lots of character.
Poor EE/Orange cover in area
Lovely clean, decorated accommodation, serving good food.
Friendly Staff, Excellent dining. Convenient for Devon coast.
A bit short on cupboard space in room 3 if one was staying longer than two days.
Rooms very nice.
Was not told on booking that food was not available on Sunday evening or Monday morning...the night we booked. I would not have stayed here if I had known this.
Very clean, great room good staff
Breakfast although good price was a bit basic
Our room had everything we could have wanted. The bed was very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was delicious, absolutely delicious.
I could not find fault.
Room was very pleasant- light and airy and spacious with large en suite. Young staff were friendly and helpful Very quiet and pretty location Lots of sockets- good for business travellers!
Having a bad back I'm not a fan of memory matresses so didn't sleep too well, but appreciate this is a very personal thing. £7 rather steep for just toast for breakfast, but not having a full English was my choice I guess.
Dinner was superb
Very clean and comfortable .. excellent staff ... Rick the stick was a added bonus to our Saturday night ... unexpected but good fun ...
Menu too fussy should serve high quality pub food.
Food Room comfortable Friendly staff
Dogs wandering about unleashed Doors slamming Noise from bar
Stayed hear to break the journey on a business trip to Plymouth and was pleased I couldn't get a room in town ! Great setting in a picturesque village and the place looks like it has recently been renovated to a high standard. I was on business so pleased that the WiFi coverage was good in all areas and not limited to the 10m closest to the bar like some well known hotel chains I could mention. Staff very friendly & helpful but the food is what makes the Anchor special. As a solo business traveller I don't normally do 3 courses for dinner but couldn't resist here. Great selection of dishes using local, seasonal produce. Venison & wild mushroom suet pudding as a main sums the Anchor Inn up in on word - Comforting. Breakfast didn't disappoint either and after a full English, cooked fresh I was ready for the day. Back in Plymouth next week and am going back.
This really is Olympic level nitpicking but the room I was in didn't have anywhere to sit and work ... al it needs is a chair by the dressing table.
I thought we booked bed & breakfast but when checked out we were informed we had to pay extra for breakfast the manager pointed out it was not a meal deal and showed me in very small print, I think this should be made clearer when booking
location of hotel . cleanliness good.
was not told till we arrived that they did not do food sunday nights or breakfast monday morning. then went to bed and there was loud music and chatter till 12 20 when my husband had to go down and ask them to turn it down. when told girl in morning when paying bill did not even appologise just said i was not here.
The Anchor Inn was a good find close to Plymouth, but a lovely country pub with good rooms and a good menu
There is no mobile phone signal in the pub
Cosy and comfortable room. Ok for a few nights but no wardrobe
Unable to get signal on phone. On check in was told breakfast was included and on check out was charged and told the girl checking us in had made a mistake u
Old building tastefully restored
The way the pub has been refurbished and decorated retains the character of this historic inn yet imparts a modern boutique hotel feel to the place. It looks and feels good. Very peaceful.
The non-availability of breakfast on Monday mornings. I can understand the restaurant not being open on Sunday evenings but come on, it shouldn't be too difficult to provide a breakfast, even of the continental format, for those guests who stay Sunday night.
