The bed and bedding we had were excellent. Menu choice, for breakfast particularly, was very good. It is a short walk to Southwold ferry or a quiet piece of the Suffolk coastline.

Our room in the main building was tired and so didn't have the wow factor associated with the cost of a stay! our room was on the front of the pub and so overlooked the car park on one side and outside dining area on the other side...could've been noisy and smoky on a warmer night!

The room. The food. The drink. Proximity to beach etc. The general ambience.

Incautious comments made by young male bar staff about guests within their earshot.

Restaurant excellent food and service very good.

Rooms disappointing. On arrival TV not working, remote was in another room. Stains on walls, room cleaning poor, water stains on bathroom surfaces not wiped as part of cleaning, room facilities should include a fan. Only one packet of biscuits provided across 3 nights and only 1 chocolate drink packet provided for two people staying. Lights not working on bathroom mirror and mirror in bedroom.

Great food at the restaurant. Lovely outside patio. Close to the coast. The hotel rooms are nicely laid out with privacy and lovely landscaping. The room was spacious and comfortable.

The location was excellent and very relaxing. Had we had better weather, we could have enjoyed the excellent outdoor seating facilities better.Menu could have been a little more extensive.

Although there was a quaint cosy feel to room no 1, there were holes in the fire door and a bad gash in the enamel in the bath.

Bed was very comfortable, with three pillows of differing thickness etc, each!

Price of wine in the restaurant was exorbitant! (but food good)

Room was spacious, bright and quiet just a short stroll from the beach and harbour in the heart of lovely village - and only just across the river from Southwold. Superb food and attentive staff. Wanted to stay longer.

If I had to be picky I would comment on the absence of a full-length mirror in the bedroom and occasional noisy pipe-work but this did detract from the overall wonderful experience.

The accommodation was excellent and the garden delightful. Breakfast was a great start to the day.

The bar was well stocked with wines and spirits. Was surprised when 2 out of the three ales were off on one night. The brewery is practically walking distance away (apart from crossing the river).

The position of the inn relative to the sea and walks in the area. Very good choice of beers and wines and the food was excellent. Our chalet was very comfortable and the staff were very keen to please.

I just thought the area generally was a little pricey compared to other areas we have visited recently.

Great staff. Fantastic location. You can smell the sea. Great little room. I was expecting it to be above a pub, but the rooms are in the back garden. They're like log cabins. Really friendly atmosphere. Would definitely go back.

    Nothing.

Location, food quality (dinner), range and quality of beers

Staff seemed a bit chaotic. Bit tired in places (dirty condiments, dead flowers on table), cleaning sponge taped to door as a door stop. Breakfast quality not up to standard for a 'gastro' establishment

Room size and facilities. Underfloor heating in bathroom. Big rooms. Excellent breakfast.

Staff in need of training. Had to ask for items at breakfast that should already have been on tables!

Nice setting and a relaxing stay.

Nothing major but we felt the room could do with a bit of tlc. Loose door handles, frayed carpets, cracks in ceiling and walls and a shower head so covered in lime scale the build up of water pressure blew the head clean off! Food good if a little pricey and sitting down for breakfast with food on the floor from someones dinner the night before wasn't too clever. That said we still had a good stay.

    The location-food

For the money I was expecting more personal taste to the room ie fresher looking no stains on the carpet-their was only two normal tea bags and the condiments were not replenish for the next day...
