1) Spacious, warm and comfortable room which was very quiet and set within a garden. 2) The staff were very friendly and welcoming and anxious to please. 1)The lighting wasn't really bright enough to read in bed. 2)I should have liked a choice of teas in the room as the teabags provided were very strong. Fruit teas would be nice. 3) It would be useful to have more written information in the room eg to advise us not to drink the water and that a bottle of water could be obtained from the pub. A pub we stay in in Stiffkey provides free of charge a bottle of mineral water each day in the room.

It was a plesantly quirky, friendly and fun place- no hint of the 'chain, all the same' mentality. Its smoky fire in the main bar....

Fast free Wi-fi. The food we ate was very interesting, I've never had gin cured salmon before and it actually works:) Friendly staff. Lots of good books scattered around that are aligned to my tastes and political leanings. I will probably go back. This is an old pub converted to a hotel restaurant and consequently perhaps a little less spacious than might be ideal. It would have been nice to have a later checkout and perhaps some seating for non diners but I'm sure the owners have thought all that through and it doesn't make commercial sense. Much better like this than the place being boarded up like so many old pubs.

Friendly staff & well situated in centre of lovely village. Accommation rather basic for price- expected a bit more luxury. TV had only one chanel working & chalets were looking into a very overgrown garden. They needed a makeover & clean for the price we paid/

Although there was an initial problem over the booking the staff greeted us and provided us with an alternative accommadation for two nights and the third night at the pub itself. All the staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome and at home. A refreshing change to have young staff great you with smiles and such courtesy. The food was very good, breakfast and evening meals alike. We will visit again and highly reccommend the Anchor and certaily Walberswick. A delightful sea side haven.

The garden and the evening food. The stairs and hall way leading to the room was smelt of dogs and the carpet had not seen a Hoover in days. My room did not get hoovered, only the bed got made. There was no phone in the room. When asked for more milk for the room the staff did not know were it was kept, so we was handed a jug of milk which we found out when we got to the room, had been heated up. At breakfast on the first morning the bacon was cold and on the second day the chef was late and there was only one waitress in, who was new and was not sure what she was doing and while this was going on the owner was watering the garden.

The full English Breakfst was good quality Staff didnt really pay us any attention. We were not met at breakfast and had sat there for 10 mins before any service, despite staff being in the room. We felt we were ignored.. A sa couple we were given one small pat of butter for our toast, which was totally inadequate. the menu promised Muesli but there wasnt any on the table and there was no orange juice, just apple juice. Room was adequate but in need of attention, however it was clean. At £110 per night our stay fell short of our expectations.

Nice food, nice accommodation and very good service. Very friendly staff. The printed menu included some excellent dishes but there could be a little more choice. Only complaint - Monday night, the bar was empty except for my wife and myself. A young male member of staff asked us to move to other seats so that locals could use our seats and table! Why? I thought that this was rude and unnecessary. That is not how to treat customers. We complied to save trouble but I could just as easily have refused, especially as absolutely every othert table/seat was empty. Insensitive, tactless - definitely.

We only booked a few days before we travelled and we found The Anchor to be a delightful and very welcoming pub. The staff were vey attentive and the room we were in (No 1) had some lovely views. The food and drink was all first class. We'd certainly return.

The friendliness, good food , good company, lovely place. Think it was a bit expensive for what is basically a pub b&b , without any view to look at and a bit out of the way. Not what it says on the tin to be fair.

The location of The Anchor, Walberswick is excellent but add to that the friendly welcome, the lovely refurbished chalet/cabins and good, fresh food and you have a winning combination. We had chosen the place on the back of an article in 'The Telegraph', earlier this year and we were delighted to find that the place lived up to its review. The nice touches such as books in the bedside cabinets, the pretty gardens, the approachable staff all added up to a very satisfactory stay.
