Excellent hotel, will stay again.
Dinner very poor, will eat out next time
I had an excellent stay in a comfortable well run hotel. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. they really make you feel at home. The breakfast is good value and there is an excellent choice. all in all a very good stay and would recommend it to anyone
Building itself is so good to look at full of character
Grantham itself looks tired and needs investment and interior of the hotel looks tired also
Good location good sized rooms.
The staff are not knowledgable about their product and are not well trained. The food is ok but not of the best quality.
friendly staff especially reception !
being brought cooked breakfast before having finished cereal.
Service received at breakfast let them down and noise from outside in the street.
welcome from reception. all staff excellent large room quiet for town centre good food and excellent real ale dog welcome
room needs updating
Excellent location in the city centre with parking facility Historical building with loads of character Style of the bedroom Nice bristro downstairs with fantastic food Quiet and relaxing environment Friendly staff
The night staff have top customer service! Mark looked after us very well.
Comfortable bed and clean and tidy room Very good breakfast
the bed was nice
paid £135 for our one night stay and to be honest got no help from staff struggling to get upstairs with all our stuff as we just got married room was very dull
The building and it's history. Royalty from King John to the Duchess of Cambridge have stayed here with Heneries Charles and even Oliver Cromwell in between. The first floor room where Richard 111 had his business meeting amazed
It is not fair to criticize. It is a good hotel in a county town, emerging from recession. The food was good and nicely presented. Grantham on a Saturday morning had an interesting market. The mix of clientele was interesting. And for a while you can pretend you are Pickwick - although I don't think he ventured that far north So we liked
Really comfy bed and spacious room. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel with a lot of character.
The room was large, very clean and extremely comfortable and felt quite luxurious. The hotel has a lot of history and character and felt homely and not too corporate. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was good, the bar was lovely and atmospheric and the location in the centre of Grantham worked well. They also offer free parking. I would have liked to have stayed longer and hope to return.
We stayed on a Saturday night and the room was a bit noisy when the local pubs closed about 11ish, but that wasn't the fault of the hotel
Fast room service Very clean room and bathroom Excellent room service staff - but breakfast table staff could do with a little improvement Generous room service meals Much improvement in the general facilities offered (over last management, that is) Historic background of the hotel The alleged 'Ghost(s)'! (Great drawcard)
One small piece of soap to last two people two days and evenings Less breakfast service than is expected WiFi didn't work on last day at hotel
The location and the history of the building.
most things unfortunately. the room was a massive disappointment, it was furnished very cheaply and not in keeping with the building at all. The bed and bedding were very cheap and uncomfortable. The bed had no valance on it showing a very cheap bed underneath. it was the worst bed I have ever slept in. We did try to change rooms but the alternatives were no better. The breakfast in the morning was also a massive disappointment too. After waiting for a waitress to clear our table before we could eat (she was busy clearing tables were there were no customers) my husbands coffee came only warm so he drank it black, I had to wait for milk for my tea. We ordered our breakfast and yet three customers who came in after us got their food before us. My breakfast was on a cold plate and my sausage was burnt and my husbands was cold too with a few items missing of it that were ordered. The staff made us both feel they were doing us a favour and we just couldn't wait to leave.
Staff very friendly and helpful, beautiful building with fab history, lovely room, yummy breakfast!
Good parking arrangement, friendly staff, comfortable room
Extractor fan from Kitchen noisy, left on at night, disturbed sleep ona hot summer's nights.
Staff friendly and very helpful. Quiet room and liked being able to sit outdoors
We ate from the restaurant menu, in the bar area. We waited over an hour and the food was appalling . It's the first time in 40 years of travelling we have ever returned food without paying. Other clients we met had a similar experience. Having said that I would use the hotel again for accommodation. We found an excellent Indian take away down the high street.
The room The bed How it was above 28C until 0500
Staff very friendly and helpful. It was a very hot day and reception provided 2 fans in my room. Kitchen was closed when I arrived but arrangements were made to provide me with a steak. The car park was very convenient and I was able to leave my car there all day after checking out until I had completed my business in Grantham.
No desk for working at in my room
This is a real hotel, with staff who make it their job to make their guests comfortable. We were so impressed when it was suggested they serve us breakfast in the lobby so we could keep our dog with us. We didn't even have to ask - they saw our problem and acted promptly and with the greatest cheerfulness. The fact that the hotel is brim-ful with history just adds to the feeling of well-being.
We were glad to see that they had a wedding plus a birthday party in the hotel - of course we want them to do well. Just a bit sad that it did not leave a bar free for hotel guests to have a night-cap.
Maggie Thatcher mug You can buy to support her Statue
Lock in historical building was not easy to open, might be problem for older traveller
All staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful. I cant fault this hotel.
