Staff very friendly and helpful, beautiful building with fab history, lovely room, yummy breakfast!
Good parking arrangement, friendly staff, comfortable room
Extractor fan from Kitchen noisy, left on at night, disturbed sleep ona hot summer's nights.
Staff friendly and very helpful. Quiet room and liked being able to sit outdoors
We ate from the restaurant menu, in the bar area. We waited over an hour and the food was appalling . It's the first time in 40 years of travelling we have ever returned food without paying. Other clients we met had a similar experience. Having said that I would use the hotel again for accommodation. We found an excellent Indian take away down the high street.
The room The bed How it was above 28C until 0500
Staff very friendly and helpful. It was a very hot day and reception provided 2 fans in my room. Kitchen was closed when I arrived but arrangements were made to provide me with a steak. The car park was very convenient and I was able to leave my car there all day after checking out until I had completed my business in Grantham.
No desk for working at in my room
This is a real hotel, with staff who make it their job to make their guests comfortable. We were so impressed when it was suggested they serve us breakfast in the lobby so we could keep our dog with us. We didn't even have to ask - they saw our problem and acted promptly and with the greatest cheerfulness. The fact that the hotel is brim-ful with history just adds to the feeling of well-being.
We were glad to see that they had a wedding plus a birthday party in the hotel - of course we want them to do well. Just a bit sad that it did not leave a bar free for hotel guests to have a night-cap.

Lock in historical building was not easy to open, might be problem for older traveller
All staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful. I cant fault this hotel.
This hotel is historically fascinating and the main dining room is spectacular. The hotel is in an excellent location, with good parking and free wi-fi. Our bedroom was large and well fitted.
No air conditioning, which was unfortunate as the night we stayed was one of the hottest nights of the year! We also had problems with a toilet seat which came adrift and couldn't be fixed during our stay.
The atmosphere of the place,
Nothing of note
Good location .. clean .. reasonable room size .. breakfast is fine.
No lift .. weird rooms arrangement .. lots of stairs especially if the room is on top floor.
Great location. Easy to park. Put World Cup on lounge tv for us (late match).
Room was warm at night. Had fan but to noisy to leave on and sleep. Confusion over rates. Advertised World Cup in bar but shutting ehen arrived (see Likes).
The breakfast staff were onthe ball and very pleasant
52 steps to a room in the attic that should never be considered as a double. If we returned late in the evening it was a bad situation from the car park to the hotel entrance. Finally we had to leave a day early, and your receptionist said she would credit us with £82 and she would email confirmation during that afternoon,we are still waiting.
The staff were very friendly and helpful
Our stay was excellent all the staff were very helpful and the poached egg amazing.
It was a nice building and excellent setting. The finer details let it down.
Bathroom was not looked after, the blind wouldn't lift at all so was quite dark, and there were two spiders living in the bathroom. Also, although the weather was not overly warm, the bedroom was roasting hot at night, even with the window open.
Lovely old hotel, staff were great
Bed very squeaky and a quilt rather than a bedspread would have been nice
Friendly, helpful staff. Charming character full historic building. Great central location in easy walking distance of all local amenities. Free secure parking.
Reception staff excellent
Had to wait 10 minutes just to order breakfast. Service not great
The room was very pretty with all necessary comforts ie; tea/coffee facilities, TV etc.
The breakfast service was appalling. I walked out after waiting 25 minutes for a slice of toast.
It is a great hotel room to stay for the price. The hotel has history and it is nice to stay in a place with such historical links.
The staff were extremely helpful
The room was far too hot and my elderly mother and myself were on the third floor and there was no lift.
The central location.
Needs a refurbishment!!
