The room was beautiful and huge with a king size bed.The staff were lovely and friendly and we loved the ambience of the place. Everything was very clean and there was great attention to detail. Would definitely stay here again.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Angel. Friendly staff, early check in, comfortable, quiet room, good breakfast and ideally located in the centre of Grantham with free car parking. We thought our overnight stay with breakfast for £75 was good value.

Staff were all very friendly. Had a nice meal in the restaurant and the bars are well worth having a drink in, breakfast was also well served. The history of the hotel is well worth reading about and some of the rooms at the hotel are quite impressive. We stayed at the hotel to attend a friends wedding at Belvoir Castle which is a £17 taxi fare away. I would definitely recommend this hotel to stay at.

The staff made us feel very much at home. They were always ready with a smile and helpful advice. The food was also excellent and very reasonably priced. Good wine and great restaurant ambience too. The pillows!

The helpfulneess of the staff. The history of the hotel and the architectural features. The poor maintenance of the room and bathroom:damaged bathroom floor tiles, damage to the bedroom wall for want of a doorstop, failed bedside light. Why is this sort of thing not reported to the maintenance staff by the housekeeping staff?

The receptionist was superb and answered every request, especially the directions to Grantham college where I would be teaching the staff were charming and polite the room was wonderfully quiet and peaceful It was very difficult to locate the back car park with twists and turns. I went round and round the town and eventually asked a taxi at the rail station to precede and show me. There was no table for writing or reading work papers in the room The instructions about having breakfast delivered were unclear. I was told the order should have been made the night before But I noted that room service started at 10 am when I could have waited for the breakfast delivery,

Lovely friendly helpful staff, really great food, clean rooms, brilliant location. Decor obviously in keeping with the age and style of the hotel, but a bit dated and 'caravan chic' rather than stylish. The pillows need changing - for over £100 for a night I would expect goose down, and three, not two. Still have a dreadful crick in my neck three days later, from the awful flat cheap pillows :o( Generally the place is in need of a bit of TLC, bathroom was nice - but did find a hair on the side of the bath. The Location was clearly the reason for the high price.

Very comfortable and well appointed hotel. We were given a lovely large room with lots of room for relaxation and comfortable armchairs. The staff were professional and also friendly. We ate at the hotel on both evenings of our stay and particularly enjoyed the `Taste of Lincolnshire` platter. The breakfast menu was also good.

Grantham is an important center for local businesses and the Angel has been rescued by local business interests from years of decline under a national chain. It seems to be have been successful. The (very) old parts of the fabric have been well preserved and the new-build parts are well done. The staff know what they are about and overall it comes across as a professional operation. I didn't eat there but others in the group said that the breakfast was very good. There is a large hotel car-park at the back. The weekend rate we paid made it well worth the stop-over and I would certainly go back. I prefer rooms where the floor-space is not eaten-up with furniture that, personally, I have no use for (I mean, how many times does one actually sit in the obligatory stuffed armchair rather than on the bed or at the desk?) and for a couple travelling with larger pieces of luggage the (modern-build) room that I was in might have felt 'cosy' - but it was very comfortable, for all that.

The staff were friendly and helpful and even got a portable heater when the secluded area where we chose to sit became chilly. The room was clean, spacious and there was good attenrion to detail. The bar snack was excellent and the breakfast was good.

the angel and royal is situated right in the centre of grantham, so convenient for getting about town. the staff were excellent - nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great with a great choice! The room - i expected to be small and pokey as i only booked a standard but it was big with excellend facilities. I just love that there is free wi-fi and secure parking too in a town centre! Absolute bargain and have recommended to friends. Hope to stay there again soon 2 really tiny things (being picky rreally!) The menu for breakfast whilst it was great, i felt it was over simplified i.e. they did not have 'full english' which is really easy to order rather than 'angel delight' with x x x x and x added. (just my personal opinion) and the bathroom in my room constantly smelt like stagnant water...Not the fault of anyone so didnt complain at the time (didnt want to trouble them as not couldnt smell once out of bathroom)

A very enjoyable overnight stay in a hotel with lots of character in the centre of the town. I stayed in the superior double suite (not room) with all the facilities I required for a comfortable night. Breakfast wasn't exceptional but was above average compared to other hotels I have used. Parking was secure and convenient even though the hotel was right in the centre of town which for a smaller town looked to have everything one would require. No evidence of any mention to Maggie Thatcher who hailed from Grantham!

My adult daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel, for reasons mostly not listed in your categories in q2. I would describe the hotel as very comfortable rather than 'luxury', with a lovely big bedroom (bigger than some London flats!), and with some outstanding historical and cultural links. I suggest you add heritage/historical to the list above as there are still some people who appreciate such things above shopping! The staff too were very welcoming; nothing was too much trouble for them. I will definitely recommend the hotel and look forward to staying there again. My 28 year old daughter feels the same , so this is not just an old fogey view! Nothing. Keep it just as it is, and please don't make it into a boutique hotel like the sad White Hart in Lincoln.
