We had only one minor problem which resulted in our being upgraded immediately as a room was available. Very approachable, friendly staff and delicious food - not worth searching out anywhere else to eat!
nothing to dislike
Room was beautiful - original beams etc, but doorways so low and floors so uneven it actually became an issue for someone 6' 2" tall. Bed was comfortable, staff helpful. Good breakfast.
Too expensive at £110 Car park small and difficult Evening meal very average - the beef stroganoff clearly began life as a mushroom stroganoff so they just added a few strips of beef. But only a few. If I'd wanted a mushroom stroganoff I'd have ordered it. The fresh bread was ambitious but unfortunately not cooked.
Quality of breakfast. Old charm style with modern and clean bathroom.
Was promised (and confirmed by emai when queried!) a double room. Discovered by discomfort in the night that this was twin beds pushed together. When staff were informed of the disappointment in the morning, was told that two twin beds 'zipped' together was a double - only when I insisted that I wouldnt have noticed it was a problem if it was a good substitute for a double did they relent and offer a discount.
This is a beautiful and historic place to stay, a stone's throw from Petworth House. An unassuming front hides a really beautiful timber-framed pub, restaurant and garden. Food was great, so was the drink - three cask ales, well served. Rooms are newly renovated with luxury modern bathrooms - old meets new.
The bed frame was warped, which meant that one of us didn't sleep well. We told the staff, who said they'd look into it.
Breakfast was fantastic, evening meal in the courtyard setting was equally scrumptious and the staff were very obliging. Highly recommended!
Ancient timbered building Excellent staff
Excellent staff, good food, interesting building which has been well renovated.
The Inn offers well-appointed rooms with modern conveniences in a refurbished building dating back to medieval times-- no small feat! It has a lovely garden off the bar and a cozy restaurant where we had an excellent dinner. The staff were very helpful and courteous. It's very convenient to Petworth House.
There was a problem with the electricity going out during the night, but the staff kindly offered to give us a discount to compensate for the inconvenience. There's really nothing we didn't like!
The bed was about the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The waitresses were great, very friendly and accomodating. The room was very attractive with a particularly ood bathroom.
The food was excellent - breakfast and dinner. All cooked to order delicious! friendly service. Delightful walled garden for pre dinner drinks (weather permitting, and it was beautiful). Wooden furniture, but help-yourself box of cushions available, very thoughtful Quirky staircase with low ceilings and floors were uneven, but a real charm exuded. Modern bathroom with shower and lovely fluffy towels.
We had a twin bed room and the beds were really narrow. maybe we should have opted for a double!
Visiting Petworth House which was within walking distance. Good food at breakfast and dinner time.
Radiators in our room not working so it was a bit chilly. Lack of hot water now and again.
The rooms were quirky breakfast was very good
Children screaming at 8 o'clock at night
We stayed in Room 3. Lovely spacious room with Superking four poster bed. Modern bathroom with lovely toiletries.
There wasn't a proper shower- lovely sunken deep bath but with just a hand held shower. I was 8.5 months pregnant so rather awkward getting in & out of the bath & you can't stand up to shower so I had to crouch in the bath. My husband is 6' tall & practically flooded the bathroom trying to wash. Not ideal! And certainly not suitable a bath for the elderly as you have to step up & then step down to get into the bath.
Central Position. Friendly pub atmosphere. Good choice of Breakfast included. We will come back.
Decor of the room, and generally Food Bed
Certain things were lacking in the bedroom and bathroom, i.e. shower cap, tissues, and the bottles of handwash and body and hair shampoo were nice but the dispensers were difficult to use and came out with too much force when the liquids did come out. Toilet handle was loose, flushing mechanism was not satisfactory. Shower Room door did not close properly and could not be locked and squeaked very loudly. The shower door did not close properly at the foot and therefore water came out on to the floor. In the bedroom a small chair would have been nice to have and useful. The Manager did ask us if everything was alright on our first night, and we told him about the door, also the lack of a small chair and did mention the lack of tissues. A chair was supplied but nothing was done about the more important point of the door closing and locking, also the squeaking.
Great beer and a open fire on a winters day. I grew up in a neighbouring village to Petworth and used my stay at the Angel to visit old friends so my opinion is slightly biased. Very nice....
Snoring old man !
Friendly staff, fantastic food, beautiful period room
Staff very welcoming and extremely helpful throughout our stay. We had a wonderful meal in the evening and lovely breakfast. The bar and restaurant were a good size but had a lovely cosy atmosphere. Would highly recommend,
Nothing to dislike :-)
No chair to sit on in bedroom
Lovely old coaching inn tastefully and cleverly modernised to retain its character yet provide all the comforts expected in 21st century. Parking. Dog-friendly. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Good food in front of open fire - perfect for cold November night. Short stroll to beautiful country views. Highly recommended.
Could be noisy in rooms overlooking the road. Don't expect large rooms -this is a 15th century building.
A wonderful historic building. Extremely capable staff. Good food, both dinner and breakfast. Comfortable bedroom.
We liked everything about the Angel, from the warm welcome from the owner to the wonderful staff. The food was exceptional, the breakfast was one of the best I have ever had.
Nothing to comment on.
