A very family orientated hotel, with good food and a great atmosphere in the Bar, where we were able to meet our friend

The staff were very friendly and attentive, the breakfast was very good. A country ambience is how I would describe the place Unfortunately I had to complain about our room. The floorboards creaked very loud and we could not avoid them no matter how we tried. Very annoying. At 7.30am each morning an echo type sound as though water was being drawn from a tank nearby lasted an hour. Avoid room 26

Food. Helpfulness of staff - well beyond the everyday. A coal fire in the bar! Ease of access to towm and surroundings Most, but not all of the rooms have been upgraded; itt will be good when they are all done.

1.Town centre location. 2. Enclosed carpark. 3. Staff helpful. 1.Severe mould on grout lines of bathroom tiles (can be easily remedied with neat bleach). 2. Very slippery bath surface. 3. Being awakened at 3am by 2 very drunk men singing out as loud as they could whilst trying to get into the room next (with out a key).

The hotel was tired, dated. On check in I was advised there were no non- smoking double rooms left. I was offered a twin non smoking room, which I accepted but in fact someone had been smoking in there. The rooms and public areas were cold. I was advised to use the fan heater in the room, and this was on the go all night. For the price paid, this was very poor value.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very well cooked breakfast with lots of choice. As a non smoker, having to stay in a smoker's room. It obviously stank of stale smoke, although the room was very clean and comfortable. I feel that a discount should be offered and it should be made very clear to potential guests when they book, because some people would not be able to stay in such a room.

Staff were helpful. Nice pub that I felt comfortable in as a single female. Atmosphere, oldie worldie. Facilities very good. Service excellent. The room was a bit cramped. would suggest taking the big desk out and put in a very small table instead. I never used the cupboards at all. They seemed to dominate the room.

Room 3 -feel very much at home, friendly and helpful staff. Felt that kitchen staff not up to scratch for dinner - lasagne was extremely dry and very stodgy, more like a cake, little or no sauce between pasta layers. I should have sent it back....! Had anticipated inviting a friend, now pleased I didn't, would have been disappointing for both of us.
