Comfortable bed, Great Location, Amazing Staff.
There wasnt anything to Dis-like!!!
Spacious room Central location
Noisy room onto Main Street.
Helpfulness of staff
No air conditioning in the bedroom (suite). Windows open and street noise from late night revellers, followed by early delivery lorries clattering and banging doors, then early morning market traders setting up....... Very little sleep!
Very central location.
the Sir Francis Drake room was absolutely stunning!! Would recommend :)
Location central to all shops and the many restaurants/bistros etc.. Very quiet and comfortable room. Assistance with bags - essential given the safari to my room.
Location - pedestrian precinct - having to wait for gates to open in evening, and having to beat the traffic warden in morning. No hotel bar!!! The hotel has leased out all common areas to a restauranteur.
Great staff, right in the centre. Loved Bills for breakfast.
Noise at night. Ask for room facing back. Was a bit worn. We were told an update is planned.
Really good to be in the centre of town.
Friends had a car nowhere to park and extra cost. A little expensive could have included breakfast.
I had the very well appointed suite, a blend of classic style in the bedroom/living areas with a fresh new bathroom suite. Excellent.
Wifi not working. Ignored when calling reception 6 times! Breakfast not included and I had to buy it in another area, not good! Carpet in bathroom is never a good idea...I kept my shoes on.
Lovely building with a lot of history. Rooms are well furnished and comfortable (also large for somewhere in Guildford).
Can be a bit noisy from the street as old windows in the hotel - but the old windows are some of the charm
Everything - I love proper hotels, ones with character, age and a story - this one has all of them. The service is brilliant too!
I liked everything, but I can imagine if you are someone who wants gadgets, big TVs, and enjoys a clinical room that is the same as every other in the corridor, you may not get on with this hotel (your loss).
The hotel was lovely full of character and we enjoyed our stay in the large rooms. Just could have had a better supply of tea, coffee, milk and a chocolate or biscuit so you could sit and enjoy the lovely sitting room with a special treat.
We tried ringing a few times before our arrival but the phone was not answered. Only one person at Reception so it was left unsupervised while showing guests to rooms. The tea, coffee, milk and water was limited and very basic. Breakfast was an extra cost but it was good. Trouble with controlling temperature of water in one room.
Spacious room/suite Friendly staff Fab location Luxurious feel but good value for money
Good location. Friendly staff, room spacious but in desperate need of redecorating and refurbishment.
Room was in need of refurbishment. Looked tired, old and worn. Nets were ripped. Rooms located on higher floor, with very worn carpets on stairs and walls in need of re decorating. Also rooms very warm even though mobile air con unit on wall.
No iron in every room!
Especial thanks and appreciation for the help and consideration of concierge Robert to a weary traveller.
None comes to mind but as you would expect in such an old establishment be prepared for some stair climbing
So cool to sleep in a kind of medieval room. The only thing was that I use to sleep keeping the windows opened (because in UK there's no AIR con) and the noise in the early morning from the street (like engines etc) was a bit too much. But it was just a matter of my room. Staff was amazing both in the hotel and in the next restaurant which is downstairs. Place is lovely, and definitely will go back there while on hols!
Great location to stay.
Great location, unspoilt historic building.
Unfortunately old coach houses didn't have air on! Bu they could make an effort and offer breakfast before 08:00.
Great atmosphere, and a sense of the old traditional. Staff were very helpful, particularly with solving the parking issues. Very reasonably priced for such a convenient location in a great town. Attached restaurant was excellent, and very popular.
Having stayed in a suite overlooking the High Street on a hot Summer weekend, one would be prepared for passing late night revellers making their way home (brief minimal noise), but it is totally unacceptable for the neighbouring Boots store to be taking very noisy deliveries of stock for the next day outside between midnight and 2:00 am, trundling delivery trolleys back and forth to their huge lorry outside the hotel bedroom windows when they have a perfectly usable service street behind their store. This is not the fault of The Angel Hotel, but would seem very lazy and irresponsible on the part of Boots.
location and bathroom.
No breakfast. Was just like renting a room. The bed was small and uncomfortable. The room was incredibly stuffy and hot. Not enough milk, tea and coffee especially with no mini fridge.
Classic Old World charm. Fully remodeled bathroom. Fluffy, thick, ultrawhite bath robes. Two-room suite, with a separate reading area, bar, pullout sofabed and extra seating.
Entryways are low bearing. I'm two meters tall and hit my head a few times. But this is to be expected of a building that old. Mostly, it was just funny. The room, while quite lovely, wasn't air conditioned. This is standard for the UK, but we happened to stay there on an unusually hot month of July. We were on the top floor and had plenty of windows, plus we were given fans, so it wasn't so bad, good to keep in mind for future visitors. Don't assume your room has AC.
Bathroom was lovely
The restaurant was closed. According to the menu it was open on Tuesday and the reception staff said it would be.
