Exellent location - right in the centre of town and a short walk from the station. Attentive and efficient reception staff. Lots of original features yet sympathtically modernised. Large room and ensuite. Very reasonably priced for short notice New Year's trip.
Location on High Street was great. Loved the historical nature of the property.
The property is a bit tired and could use some freshening up.
Olay worldy room with 4 poster bed.
It was a bit cold in the room.
Nice and quiet considering the extremely central location, very spacious room and bathroom - polite and helpful staff.
Would have preferred a double bed over two single mattresses but that was a very minor consideration.
location, atmosphere, staff
water pressure has issues (sometimes), can be noisy, depending on where room faces
Location, very friendly people and ready to help you with anything.I will came back.
Lack of parking PArking restrictions outside the hotel which makes it difficult to park No breakfast possibility included with the rate In 3 days at the hotel I never got new soap or showergel replaced
Poky Room No water Pressure Very mean coffee /Tea sachets No information regarding Long stay/overnight Parking Expensive doss house
Lovely room, very comfortable and clean. Quirky corridors.
No shower curtain so bathroom floor got very wet, but it was well tiled and dried quickly.
independent historical building right in the centre of town
no bar but there are plenty of pubs nearby
The location is good. The public parts of the hotel are nice and tudoresque. The building itself is brilliant.
Tiny television. No biscuits or anything in the room. Tiny selection of drinks. 1 towel. Freezing giant bathroom. Bed was very soft but some like that. The room backs onto a cobbled courtyard that some restaurant girl started dragging METAL CHAIRS ACROSS FROM 5.30AM and rattling metal porters unloaded barrels from. The hotel restaurant is supplied this way. It was 10ft bellow the single pane windows - WHICH HAD A HOLE IN THEM? decor is 30 years out of date. It's not a cheap hotel - they should be on top of this stuff. Never going back. Looked forward to it for years sadly. Poor.
The Hotel was excellent and our room and bathroom were really lovely. The receptionist was very helpful. We are elderly and sadly the lift was not working.
We did not like the fact that the catering facilities were not part of the hotel management. We did not like the breakfast area with pop music blaring and people coming in from the street outside. The breakfast food was not very good. Such a shame.
Position, comfort, great room and bath-room.
The enormous spacious rooms. Huge bed, very soft but comfy all the same. What looked like a newly decorated bathroom, clean and well equipped.
Very noisy heating system, making banging noises throughout the night. Considerably noise coming from the main street all the way through the night. I've also stayed in side and rear rooms of the hotel which don't have this problem
Location, quirkiness, size of room.
coffee, tea making facility not commensurate with the standard of accommodation.
Staff were friendly, very helpful and welcoming. Room was very comfortable and quite large.
Hot water took an eternity to dribble through. Took me 20 minutes to run a bath but in fairness I said nothing.
Beautiful old building, large rooms
long walk to room right at the back but this was a minor inconvienience
classic unique charming comfortable convenient
staff rarely around when they were they were perfunctory not warm or friendly. rather awkward. if u go, go strictly for the hotel, not service.
Helpful staff and quirky old building.
Parking is difficult and expensive.
Location perfect for shopping and getting about. Beautiful old building. We had the junior suite which was comfortable but in need of updating. Bills resteraunt handy as directly beneath hotel ideal for breakfast we enjoyed two meals here.
Noisy at night due to windows not double glazed Furniture shabby and holes in sofa furniture, low and not comfortable Cosy feel but in need of updating For price expected better but stil enjoyed our stay
Having extra space for a relax in the living area. Nice sized bath. Excellent location. Staff assisted with queries promptly.
No shower curtain which is ruining the side of the bath. Hotel would benefit from having an arrangement with Bill's so could have breakfast uncluded in the price or as an optional extra at discount. Same re dinner.
Almost everything. The reception staff were excellent, very helpful, friendly and willing to assist with any problems.
The view from the window.
The hotel has a pleasant setting on the Guildford high street making it a short walk from the train station. The old world charm of the hotel is evident - with timbered beams.
The plumbing was distinctly 1970s! Running the hot tap, you hat to wait 10 minutes for any hot water to come out - same with the bath. The electric shower over the bath (one of those cheap ones) gave no hot water at all so I gave up and ran a bath. The bath was suitable if you were on the skinny side. There was plenty of space for a wider bath. I think the bathrooms strongly need updating (but sensitively given the historic setting). One felt that they had not been updated for many years and when they had been - it was on the cheap.
