Lovely staff and good food. Nice atmosphere in the public rooms and a very pretty courtyard. We would certainly stay at The Angel again. Rather sad that earlier comments on room 2 have not been acted upon. It shows evidence of heavy occupancy rates and is in need of refurbishment. As in previous comments, the shower is very weak and the carpet on one side of the bed is badly frayed.

Special but relaxing atmosphere, whether reading the paper with a coffee or having a meal in the restaurant or bar. Very helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to ensure that our stay was as comfortable as possible. Fabulous food. Lovely room and location. We travelled from Kent for the Easter weekend and will be sure to return if we ever get the chance.

Food, beer, ambience in pub/restaurant, free upgrade to a spacious room. Some traffic noise in spite of rural setting, and difficult to sleep when bar/restaurant is noisy at busy times.

Very relaxing during the day and in a good location for seeing the area. Room 6 directly over the bar and no sleep until closed. Food expensive and better value at pub over the road. Breakfast buffet selection poor. Its a pub charging hotel prices.

Surrounding area very good for walks! Food and room very good, friendly staff! We felt maybe they had over booked the restaurant Saturday night, we had an 8.30 table booked and eventually ate at 9.45 ! There seemed to be a few people unhappy with the service!

Had a wonderful stay. The inn is very tastefully put together, making the most of its heritage whilest bringing it bang up to date with characterful and elegant rooms. Very comfortable and clean. Staff were extremely helpful and the atmosphere was relaxed and not at all stuffy. Food was excellent but possibly a little over worked. The setting was charming and the village unspoilt. a choice of teas with breakfast would have been welcome but not essential.

the restaurant was very good. The staff were very attentive abd the food was simply delicious, thank you. The room was well equiped with toiletries and clean bedding and towels etc. although our room was clean and nicely laid out it lacked a good bright light, especially to dress by and apply make up. The low beam made us feel like we had to walk about stooping in case we hit our heads. The bed has a memory foam mattress which appears to remember someone heavy as i slept in a big dip all night!Upon arrival, we didn't like seeing all the empty drink bottles stacked up by the bins, it spoiled our first impressions of the pretty Inn.

Beer well kept; idiosyncratic room; atmosphere in bar (including log fire); guitar player (Saturday, 5 Jan); pleasant staff. Only one vegetarian meal option (same on consecutive days). Overpowering smell of disinfectant from kitchen floor made bar impossible to stay in - well before closing time! Breakfast help-yourself options: staff did not ask of there waqs anything not there that we'd like. Fruit salad straight from fridge one day - so lacked flavour.

The Angel has a very high quality approach in everything it offers. The rooms were beautifully presented with a lot of attention to detail. The beds were incredibly comfortable and you really felt as if you were in a luxury hotel. The food was beyond our expectation and the overall ambience was a bonus. We would highly recommend staying at The Angel ...the only negative was that we weren't staying longer!!!
