The staff were friendly and accomodating as we arrived in the early evening. Breakfast was really nice.
Phone coverage was patchy and we could not hook up to the wifi on any device.
Hotel has lots of character!
Food was generally good, but relatively expensive.
Thank you all for your welcoming stay, all the staff couldn't do enough for us, very much enjoyed the beer festival!
Although only fair for location, we choose to be away from the hustle and bustle of a town. Quiet, peaceful and very quaint with its thatched roof. A great menu to choose from if your hungry and well stocked bar, in the morning a Freshly cooked full English breakfast was exceptional, carefully prepared with the finest ingredients that you don't see in the chain hotels. Spotlessly clean and fresh.
Sorry, couldn't find fault
Good friendly staff.
A little expensive for what is essentially a bed and breakfast with a pub attached
We were very impressed with every aspect of our stay, from the service throughout, to the quality of our room, the standard of the evening meal and the breakfast. The staff were helpful, efficient, and very friendly. Will be staying again. Thanks to the staff
Good food, friendly staff and convenient location
The stay was excellent
Lovely weekend away nice and peaceful
Only able to get phone signal outside away from building
Dinner at the bar was nice Building has a lot of character
Radiator in room did not work making room cold, still did not get fixed after advising staff. Although it offers internet it did not work, when on business this is important.
Food was well cooked and plentiful.
This hotel was very understaffed, the stairs up to the rooms were very precarious especially if you were carrying a heavy case. The room we had was very small and the bathroom was tiny, the extractor fan was very noisy indeed. We asked for the heating to be turned on the first night, the second night we asked three times but it remained off despite it being a very damp cold day. How they were awarded four stars is beyond me! I would only give two and a half. Certainly not value for money and we would not go back under any circumstances.
location was nice and quiet, friendly staff Breakfast was excellent - and service was much quicker
extractor fan for kitchen prevents you sleeping as it was on ALL night!! plus dripping water in toilet cistern evening meal Ok but nothing special - long wait for the food too!
Fire alarm in middle of the night for over an hour and no procedure or evacuation or felling of control
Evening meal staff did not know the difference between English mustard and French mustard
Lovely character property. Staff incredibly helpful and pleasant. Full English breakfasts were delicious and very generous portions. Freshly cooked and piping hot. All in all a brilliant fund which will hopefully be visiting again! Beds comfortable. Ample parking. Ensuite with a shower. Could not find fault. Most impressed.
Having to leave!!!
historic building with beautifully maintained thatched roof in quiet setting. Within easy reach of places we needed to visit for family research - Melbury Abbas & Cann. Able to Skype family & friends from hotel room. Great to be able to eat breakfast & dinner, have a late night drink in the pub, before climbing the stairs to bed. All under the same beautiful roof.
Intermittent phone reception. Staff room key to our room left on hall seat for anyone to pick up. Security issue... Mattress protector not fitted correctly & bed sheet not reaching head of mattress. Had to straighten out lumps & bumps & tuck in again before getting into bed. Heating not on during cold snap one late afternoon. Need Mini tour of the property to show where bfast, dining room & lounge are on first day. Small door to left of reception fireplace not easily visible. Welcome notes in room folder need clean, newly printed sheets. Piles of coat hangers in bottom of wardrobe need be removed or hung up. Cupboard doors in passageway need to be kept closed. Little untidy.
The food was excellent.
Whilst the food was excellent, the room and shower room were cold. The heating was disconnected and not working. The shower room fan was not working and urgent attention is required. Staffing was unfortunately very poor.
We were staying for a function on the local camp but wanted better than an army room. The late bar for residents was a nice touch and the food was excellent ! definitely stay again if i'm in the area!
The bacon for breakfast was I incredibly good!
A very quirky inn. Mind your head! 400 years old but with all mod cons. We were so comfortable we slept in and missed breakfast - but other guests were more than happy. A special thank you to Ursula. Hard working, so pleasant, and an excellent member of staff. Plenty of parking, nice bar, enjoy your stay!
