The hotel was just over the road from the theatre. It was a real joy not to have to worry about parking the car before the performance and retrieving it afterwards. We came back from the performance for a stunning dessert from the menu.

What wasn't there to like about the experience?

Helpful staff, particularly in the brasserie - over dietary issues. Brilliant location for the RSC. Good-ish breakfast, lovely coffee. Excellent parking. Lovely towels and robes.

No fresh fruit for breakfast. Why no bananas, at least? Bath/shower (Rowan Room) really requires a handrail for assistance with getting in and out.

The location and the comfort and luxury of the property. The helpfulness of one of the receptionists who sorted out my sat nav.

The way I was treated by the restaurant staff at breakfast on my last morning. I was ignored and made to feel invisible.

Lovly hotel ,Lovly rooms and location ,lovily touch young man greeted us in car park and helped us bags , wouldn't take tip , lovily big bathroom and bed .

Restraunt managers at dinner and breakfast , unfriendly un helpful it costs nothing to smile and I don't think they have heard of the phrase the extra mile , to top it off a curly hair in green beans that arrived half way through are meal had a city hair in them ! Classy we sent them back and they was taken of are )£100 bill , a bottle of wine on the house would have been a nice touch , breakfast was not much better the service that is food is lovily , wouldn't go back again for those reasons

The Arden was an excellent choice and ideally situated to leave the car and walk most places. Will definitely stay there again when visiting Stratford upon avon.

The hotel has a great location and the rooms are clean with wonderfully large bathrooms. The reception staff were very friendly and reasonably well organised.

The service in the restaurant (breakfast, dinner and simple bar drinks) was dreadful. It felt like a really bad training school .. slow, orders inevitably mixed up (wrong table, wrong food, wrong drinks) and bills also messed up. One or two episodes would have been OK, may be even amusing, but it was relentless and in the end just became completely frustrating. Bad management has to be to blame.

The comfortable beds. The outside terrace with it's heated awnings. The location close to the river and opposite the theatres. The reception staff were always cheerful and helpful.

The very slow service in the brasserie at times with wine served after the meal was served. The high sided baths - difficult for the less mobile and for shorter people. Looked nice but not very practical.

Location, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast, eating outside, late night chips and puddings after the theatre.

Darkish Room, cramped wardrobes, slightly anonymous feel to the public areas, chaotic service at Dinner (food v good though), the steep learning curve required to turn off the shower and (consequently) too few towels
