Staying in the Tower room at the very top of the hotel with its stunning views was amazing. This hotel generally could do with a wee bit tender loving care.

Shower was good. Breakfast was very good. The 2 ladies who are front of house staff on the reception during the day were both very good and very friendly! The singles rooms are decribed on this site as spacious, well that is a joke and very misleading. This was the smallest room that I have ever seen in a hotel and I cant help wondering if it is legal? Tv is mounted too high on the wall, gives you a sore neck watching it! Basin in the room is too small and with a huge mono tap in the middle it makes it impossible to wash your face. No where to hang the towels. Bar staff need training in how to pour a pint! I asked for a Gin & tonic, I then had to ask for ice, then I had to ask for a slice of lemon and if its not too much trouble would you mind taking the top off of the bottle of tonic! I then discovered that the glass was almost too hot to handle as it had just come out of the dishwasher! This hotel needs to train their staff better than they do at present, you cannot put someome behind the bar without the correct training!

The staff were very helpful and the room had a bath, and a big one too (doesn't sound important but after a week or so staying in places with feeble showers, it's a god-send!) Breakfast good too! No parking but parking close and free at night and Sundays.

The character and history of the hotel, plus the views over the river clyde. The fact that the used bread with mould on for the roast at breakfast! Also, when we arrived the room was freezing cold - so we had to put the heather on for a few hours and go back out so the room was usable.

Good central location in town. Hotel locked before 1am on a Friday night and no visible porter on duty (even though I was told there would be one). Luckily I had the hotel number to get someone to come and unlock the front door. Guest should be given front door keys if no porter is employed.

Our double room was quite nice, but we upgraded to the Tower Room (essentially the penthouse suite) when we saw the room. Large, well appointed and with spectacular views on 3 of 4 sides. The breakfast was good as well. This hotel is right dead center of where you would want to be in Dunoon. Overall a great experience on my 3rd visit to this lovely town.
