This is the only hotel I have stayed in where a guest cannot get food or drink on the night of arrival. The management had booked 2 functions at the same time which took up all of the downstairs facitlities. We had to go elsewhere for food and drink.
Room was reasonable and the bed comfortable.
Had a problem with are room booking even thought it was booked well in advances..!
Nice place to stay with pets
Was very Pet Friendly. every one was making a fuss of Scarlet, we were going to Crufts at NEC the day after, Food very good, Room was lovely and clean, Would use this hotel again
Comfort and cleanliness top notch
The noise from the hotel getting "ready" in the morning woke us both & continued to keep us awake for some time, lots of banging & staff calling to each other.
Room was impeccable, but smaller than the annexe room we requested, but still lovely. Very comfortable, heating very responsive & easy to control.
Nothing. We couldn't find fault.
Our room was immaculately clean and beautiful with a four poster bed. All staff were very friendly even when we returned from a wedding party in the early hours. Breakfast was substantial with a great choice of cereals, fruit, a hot selection and pastries. I didn't have to eat again for a long time. All in all this hotel is fantastic value for what felt like a luxury stay.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. The beds were spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and great value for money. The restaurant had irresistible food. Ample parking Great village shops in the surrounding area.
The tea and coffee making facilities were hidden away in the draw and the tv remote was nowhere to be seen! The people in the next room were noisy and no one answered on reception when i called down to complain at 1am.
The staff were friendly and the room was clean and spacious.
room far too hot only one bedside lamp had to ask for hairdryer (didn't use) and remote for TV exceptionally loud above us and woken up throughout the night very peculiar eating arrangements
welcomed our dog pleasant young lady on reception
Rooms tiny, dirty & cold
Staff were wonderful
Good location ! Friendly staff
Really nicely furnished, great bed. Just make sure you turn the heating on in the winter
Car park spaces poor and had to park in public car park....cobwebbs in corners of room...booked a double room and was given a room for three so a double ad single bed in the room....having to pay extra for breakfast...price difference as booking on booking .com... £89.00 but if you did direct £59.00...
Friendly and helpful staff ...location good too......double bed very comfortable .....bedding and towels clean and fresh
I was woken at 2 in the morning by loud party music, this went on and on and 3 I went down to Reception to find out how long the disturbance would last only to find a lone night porter playing disco music to himself in the bar!
Generally the staff are good and helpful.
Room 207 needs a replacement mattress - desperately! Single most uncomfortable mattress I've ever slept on. Its a real shame as otherwise this would have been a perfect stay.
Location, style and decoration
The shower was not powerful enough.
Booked the place for the night after a Xmas do! It was convenient and comfortable!
Couldn't find any faults
Staff where were friendly and attentive lovely breakfast, comfortable and welcoming environment even though it was a busy period ie Christmas parties etc
The rooms in the annex were dirty it hadn't been cleaned from previous guest when we were moved the second room was dirty too which is a real shame as the rooms were a good size and could have been lovely with a good clean
Staff were friendly
The Staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome, which for a solo female working away from home, was refreshing. As I've stayed at other places and couldn't wait to get away from. I want to take my husband there for a weekend away. Love the heritage of the place.
Friendly staff, very helpful and clean staying again at Christmas.
Needs to get the rooms cleaned properly - cobwebs around ceiling and readily visible dust on curtain pelmets - carpet grubby and various fittings broken or inoperative. Breakfast staff late and always talking instead of taking orders - dont forget customers are working and need to get on as well - shame but I will not be staying again because it does not change!
Reception staff excellent.
We liked it all! A very minor thing was the fact that the regional Masons Lodge held their gathering there the last evening - they obviously had fun and we were amused by their very nonMasonic music played quite loud and well into the night:)! Not a big issue for us and we slept through it nicely.
We chose to stay in town rather than stay at one of the modern chain hotels out of town.We loved it - the old stopping place has been kept/restored beautifully retaining much of the historical character while offerring very comfortable state of the art beds, bath and all. The staff bent over backwards to be helpful as they were fully booked. Loved the great traditional English breakfast. I would recommend this beautiful old hotel to anyone wanting to experience the best of of Old England with all the modern amenities. Prices were very good!! This was a once in a lifetime visit to relatives in the area and enjoyed our stay very much:)!
If I had any negative it would be that my room was above the kitchen and the rumble of the extractor fan was a bit noisy.
It's clean and tidy, friendly staff, decent food, always happy to help, decent breakfast. Be aware that the alcohol is hotel prices rather than pub prices. I'd certainly stay again.
breakfast need to pay
room is big and clean .there is frew wifi
