Score from 171 reviews Very good
Lovely period property with attention to detail both in hotel rooms and public areas. It was like being in a time warp, in the nicest possible way. Staff were very friendly and helpful. All of which led to a most enjoyable weekend.
Room Bed Shower Hot Chocolate & Biscuits!
Location a bit further out that I was expecting
Excellent ambience. Nice to have a bit of character
Bad mobile network reception. Small tv
This was just a perfect break. 2 days of relaxation. Husband thought that a pint of Squadren bitter and watch the planes go by, was a perfect day. The hotel has been tastefully decorated in Art Deco style. The restaurant and bar area are also in this style. There are masses of pictures, photographs and memorabilia pertaining to the RAF and the air history of the buildings.
Would have liked to stayed longer. Next time we will coincide it with the museum being open
Very friendly staff. Restaurant and bar food is very good (especially the daily specials - They are v.good to excellent). The Art-Deco styling and aeronautical details throughout the the two buildings set it apart from the typical boring boxes of chain hotels. We, a group of businessmen, all prefer to stay here when we are in the Wellingborough area. This is our 5th booking here in 4 months and during those 5 weeks we've never eaten, or wanted to eat, anywhere else but at The Aviator.
It's a bit out-of-the-way but the isolation is no problem as there no necessity to go anywhere else for a good evening meal. Some floors are a bit creaky; ask for an upper floor room. It's better to be the creaker than the creak-listener in the room below.
The setting, parking, room size, and the bed
When visiting Silverstone for the British GP and WEC your hotel would be a good base, Freeview CH 71 is missing Motors TV A retune is needed. Please Breakfast Hot Milk for the coffee .
Quirky hotel with a mid 1930s aviation themed decor. A pleasant change to the average hotel chain offerings. Breakfast was good with adequate choice. Free Wifi throughout the hotel.
Some meals in restaurant were poor value but what we had was cooked to a reasonable standard.
Easy to find good location friendly staff V good food in restaaurtant Good selection of beer Interesting aviation pictures
a bit dated , but quite quaint
Comfortable bed, roomy accommodation and excellent bathroom with plenty of fast running hot water.
No lift, but will ask for ground floor room next time
Location for work.
No assistance with luggage. Drunken men in the car park. No assistance at restaurant and had to order food at the bar. No sense that anyone was managing the hotel when I was there. Utility room virtually unusable due to the amount of items being stored. Service and quality need urgent attention.
Staff, cleanliness and good full breakfast.
It was good value for money and well presented by all.
Some of the waiting staff did look and act like they would prefer to be elsewhere
Very comfortable, great decor, relaxing place to be, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Restaurant closed Sunday Evenings
A lovely art deco hotel. A lot of attention to detail and lovely atmosphere. Restaurant staff were very polite and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were very good quality. The room was spacious and clean. Much better than a chain hotel.
Wasn't very happy about being the only ones at the desk waiting to check in and we still had to wait 15 minutes while the reception finished a phone call, she didn't even look our way to acknowledge we were there. Someone was sat beside her and didn't ask what we wanted until we'd been standing there for a good 5 minutes and then said she couldn't check us in. Such a shame because it didn't give us a very good first impression. One small criticism with the room was the very loud squeaky floor boards. The poor people underneath! Sorry for these negatives but we really did have a lovely nights stay and would stay again.
Nice 1930 style hotel, lots of pictures and the place has a good history to it.
Next to the entrance for thd hotel rooms and where the cliental went for the fags all night long. Added to that the metal non slip mat that when you pulled your overnight bag across sounded like a tank track.
Friendly and efficient staff. Nice and clean. Good bar food.
