Score from 2880 reviews Very good
Interior looks a bit tired, no Real Ale at the pub
Once you have accepted that backpackers in the UK come at a price that would buy you an upper middle class hotel in Germany, it is perfectly fine. Close to Heathrow Airport (10 minutes walk to free bus shuttle 482 or 490), and still in calm, pittoresque village atmosphere. Soft, comfortable beds. Friendly and helpful staff who did inform me about public transport even without asking. Breakfast including classical British bacon and eggs and sausage. Free tea; selection of leftover shower gels to choose from ;-) Information flyers and bus timetables available. It is not true that - as written in another review - there is no shower lock; however it is a bit hidden.
Even if clean, the room smelled somewhat musty. Thermostat did not work properly; it was at times very hot in the room. Shower door could only be closed with a bang which caused quite some noise. WLAN did not work for me.
Tiny was wonderful
It was in the countryside, good to sleep without any noise
The instructions given by the woman to get Heathrow airport. They were wrong
A shed with some rooms. An extremely sad place. Definitely not the place I wish to be. A shed with some old rooms. Very noisy. My door for example was stuck and impossible to open it without giving it a bang. Not so clear how to get there by public transport.
Quiet Staff were accommodating
Fairly out of the way
Because it was far from public transport very small place little rooms no space
difficult to get to by bus
I chose Backpackers Annexe because its location is technically close to Heathrow Airport (a couple of miles), and I needed to get back to the airport for 4:30 a.m. check in. The bed was comfortable. There is an electric kettle with tea bags in the common area.
I thought it would be easy to get to the Annexe from Heathrow Airport (Terminal 1). But the taxis at the official taxi stand all have a minimum charge of 35 pounds! That seemed outrageous for a short distance. I went to information desk and got the phone number of an independent taxi, which I had to call myself. Its charge was 17 pounds each way, and I had to wait for an unmarked, black car for pick up at the arrivals area of terminal. There are local buses (557 and 441) that go from Terminal 5 or the Heathrow bus station wherever it is). The room was small, but fine except there was no working blind to get the room dark; the shared shower room has no lock on the door; the room keys are old-fashioned and I wondered if I would ever make the key work to get out of the room for the taxi. My only contact with staff at the bar was being handed the receipt of my online booking. The Annexe is behind the Swan Inn.
Close to Heathrow, Motorway etc.
Not a lot !
The wifi was a bit of a bummer not having it in the room and only a weak signal but we managed fine without it :)
Relaxed and no pressure
Close to Heathrow
no real ale at the bar
We were a stones throw away from Thorpe park. That's the reason we stayed!! Was really reasonable for a place to put your head down x
tea, coffee, milk, sugar, fridge,tv, wifi, shower, cormfy bed and most of all distance to terminal 5 not forgetting staff's and car park
This was a very cosy and friendly hostel. I just stayed for one night here because I had an early morning flight. The pub lets you eat takeaway inside and supplies you with plates and cutlery. Comfortable night's sleep.
The staff was very considerable!!!
The rooms were not fit for purpose or indeed the price that was charged for the rooms. The guy I spoke to on the phone said they were adult bunk beds which I thought was acceptable for just the 2 nights, however when the guys arrived there at the start of their stay, they said they couldn’t even fit their bags into the room let alone fit on the bunk beds which were tiny! There was no physical way that they could have stayed there 1 night let alone 2.
Their refusal to refund despite all I explained to them. will never book them again..................
The location for my needs was great. The bed was really comfy, it was like getting into a big marshmallow. Food was good, plenty of parking and friendly staff and dog.
I realised it would be very basic for the price I paid. The room was quite tatty and appeared clean but I did end up with some flea bites. Most of the doors didn't fit very well so was disturbed by other guests opening and closing their doors.
No working locks on any of the communal bathroom doors or toilets. Traces of previous guests takeaway still on floor and room door looked like it had been forced a few times. Vodka bottle smashed in car park remained there for duration of my 4 night stay
The closeness to the airport
Showers and food options
Location. Cheap for the area.
It's a blokes bar! Food was ok if you want chips. The fish pie was still cold inside. Room was small and couLd do with smartening up.
Close to London Heathrow Airport and Wi-Fi was easy to access. Manager reassured me I was in safe hands. Easy booking and location was easy to find. Bar downstairs and music was off around 9 or 10 pm.
Locks on the room door were not great. Could have a better latch lock especially being a female solo backpacker. Friends were concerned after dropping me off. Made it through the night without any problems.
