Great food and room
staff outnumber guest and they can't do enough for you. David the concierge was fantastic!
beds very comfortable Location View
•Rooms tired and decor not fitting of a luxury hotel • Room very very cold • Old fashioned noisy heating • No tea or coffee making facilities • No residence only lounge • Service standard but not special
Went to Edinburgh 2 weeks before Christmas stayed in balmoral hotel staff were great, food was excellent, location was excellent close to everything shops Christmas markets, Edinburgh castle 10 minutes walk.
Food, shopping Sights everything close to hotel
Lovely building, snug whiskey bar, good bedrooms and bathrooms, room service breakfast were excellent.
No parking so a good walk with cases. The restaurant was a disaster - the food was nice but the service was terrible. The floor was dirty- like being in cafe Nero after a busy Saturday lunch- and once the staff had plonked the food down that was it. Spent ten minutes trying to get a waiter to take back the undercooked food. Should have gone for the Michelin starred restaurant in hindsight. There is a bar at the front which opens into the reception area that is loud, and when we arrived was full of screeching women sounding very drunk. It made the reception sound like a train station. Not good.
Lovely hotel and staff, great location and facilities...especially the scotch bar. Thank you
there was no availability for evening meals in both food places. had we known we would have booked
Could not get the room cold enough
Concierges and reception staff very friendly and helpful. Great location, great exteriour, nice interior.
The 'One' restaurant was already fully booked for all days. Staff of the pub and other restaurants were a bit arrogant and not very friendly. And also here we were lucky to get a table.

Location and acess to railway station
No tea making in room; room temperature hot even with air con; couldn't open bedroom window.
A lively luxury hotel with a very helpful doorman in a great location.
Staff were excellent helpful and enthusiastic. Room was large and bathroom was luxurious with a deep bath
The location and the staff
Location, staff and facilities . Attended to everything - changed our initial room to one with a view.
bar & food prices were exorbitant
Very good breakfast. Gin and tonics and cocktails in the bar were excellent. Business centre saved the day by enabling us to print off our Rugby tickets, which we'd forgotten.
Choice of a smooth orange juice would be good. Room had no view. Probably worth upgrading to a better room.
Fantastic location and a wonderful setting and building. It's got to be one if the best hotels to stay in.
The check in process was odd - my wife was essentially asked to prove who she was ?? - the TV in the room was very old and kept loosing sound and colour - a bit of a surprise in place with such high standards generally.
Service and attention to detail.
Location of the hotel is excellent and staff friendly
There was a plate of cheese which was clearly beyond its use by date in our fridge. We had to keep asking for extra towels - you would have thought that they would have got the message. there was no coffee/tea making facilities in room. when we received some from our request the used cups were taken away and not replaced. Disappointing for such a prestigious hotel.
An ideal location for my purpose, top quality hotel, with happy past memories
Lovely room, great restaurant, extremely helpful staff.
Ideally situated for touring, and for hopping on the new tram which runs straight to the airport for a nominal fee. The staff is excellent, and the Number One restaurant is superb
The service was exceptional. We were thoroughly spoilt and we will definitely be returning again.
