Score from 1113 reviews Good
Nestled in a secluded courtyard in the heart of York city centre, this charming hotel is situated 800 metres from York Rail Station and York Minster.
Score from 1319 reviews Very good
Situated on the banks of the River Ouse, The Queens Hotel is ideally located for the many shops, restaurants and bars that the centre of York has to offer.
Score from 1283 reviews Good
Less than a mile from York’s historic centre, this friendly hotel, built in 1870, retains stained glass windows and a splendid oak staircase. There are good-value rooms and a restaurant and bar.
Score from 1378 reviews Good
Great location, city center, and the Train station, just a 2 minute walk away, Staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was well cooked, and the room was very clean and comfy
Good location, clean, good price
Very central location, 10 min walk from the train station. Nice clean and big room. Breakfast was very nice. Beautiful original parts to the building.
We were in the St mark room, very hot room (not sure why, we had turned down the radiators etc). We opened the window but afraid lots of traffic / people noise.
Been to and stayed in York many times and never seen this place before. Its excellent friendly staff comfy room and first rate breakfast. Next time I need to stay in York this will be the first place I try to book.
Very peaceful place. Unbelievable as it sits next to busy road. 4 mins from railway station. Lovely old building. Beautiful chapel inside. Staff courteous and friendly and helpful. Peaceful tranquil gardens. What more do you need after a day wandering round beautiful York.
Located very close to the City Walls. The room was very spacious and clean. Staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was lovely. Would definitely stay there again.
Price. Staff were fantastic...I would give it a 9.9 rating...and I travel about six months a year
We did not have ensuite..but facilities were nearby and spotless I could not answer q. 1...none of the categories applied.
Very friendly staff and a nice peaceful atmosphere such a contrast to the hussle & bussle outside - very clean and very homely. Good value for money - would highly recommend to solo female travellers
Could not fault any part if my stay.
Comfy bedroom & excellent breakfast
No en suite
The rooms could have been lovely ,but putting up pin boards with hotel rules and guide lines in each room gives an institutional quality . put them in a folder on the desk! loud water pipe clanking noises next to our bedroom! no sleep!
The Hotel was in a excellent walking distance of all central. Staff were all very helpful. Would return again next time in York.
Friendliuness and location
Deep step to bathroom on the 3rd floor and it hurt my back during the night. There should be notices to warn you.
Breakfast exceptional, character, good bathroom, comfy bed, clean.
Breakfast starts very late, 8.30? Room was not ready despite calling the day before. Staff are a little amateur at Hospitality services
lovely quiet and clean room, the building's history and uniqueness. Lovely continental breakfast. The Bar Convent is the most unique venue I have ever stayed at and with a few tweaks could retain all of its character but none of its poor approach to guests.
A fifteen minute wait on arrival at 5.45pm because there was no one on reception or in the housekeepers office.
We stayed in a Lawrence a twin room overlooking the garden at the end of a corridor so no noisy neighbours. Beds were lovely.
Would be nice to have en suite but in order to accomplish this the character would be lost and of course the price would increase. We were only sharing with 1 other room so really not a negative.
Location Breakfast Size of room
I did not want the following, but if you did you would not like it: Facilities like a Gym, bar. 24x7 room service
It's very homely and the staff are friendly
The mattress on my bed sloped down at one side.
cosiness and non-hotel feel
excellent breakfast. close to all main attractions only a short walk into town. very friendly staff , lovely and clean , beds very comfortable ..got a great nights sleep .
As an extended family we used the lounge and kitchen on the 2nd floor. We also appreciated the large lift for my elderly mothers mobile scooter. The Breakfasts were very good.
I through the prices in the cafe were quite expensive.
Location, comfort and cleanliness Full English breakfast cooked to order and was good quality.
We had en suite but there was a toilet sited near our room and being used throughout the night.
Friendly staff Convenient to restaurants Attached museum
Somewhat sprawled out...but it is a Grade one listed building after all Toilets could have been closer to Agnes 1
The facilities at The Bar Convent were not lavish but very comfortable and well maintained. The staff can’t do enough to help you. It is ideally situated in the centre of York and just a quick walk from the train station. The inclusive continental breakfast has a vast choice of fresh produce and the cooked breakfast is real value for money. I liked it so much I will be rebooking for next year.
What's not to like?
The bed was so hard. I was located near the bathroom so heard everything in the toilet done by others including th middle,of the night. It was very noisy being on a main road and the key system that they had. They advertised wifi in the room and it didn't work unless you were on the ground floor. The kitchen staff rudely turned me away as I arrived for breakfast five minutes early. The bread at breakfast was. Stale.
