I loved the ambience and tranquility and the feeling of reverence. I will stay there again when I revisit York
My room backed onto the lift which tended to rattle a lot
Staff very helpful, room pristine and continental breakfast made me and daughter fit to bust, the quality was topnotch. Husband had full english he said this was one of the best he'd had. A look around at the chapel and museum was great, worth a visit for anyone.
The only downside was a shared bathroom, but as it was next door was not a problem.
Friendly environment. Would stay at the bar convent again & recommend it to my family & friends I enjoyed it for its warmth and friendly staff very considerate & helpful also. Being able to visit the chapel with the blessed tabernacle . Any time Thank you
Centrality of The Bar Convent. Nice staff. Helpful aswell.
Location, staff, breakfast, comfort, price.
History atmosphere character food space garden
Being one level beyond where lift goes to
The very personal welcome we received, not only from the house manger but all the staff. Proximity to the city was perfect.
If you're a tourist and have a hire car, parking is very difficult, and costs.
Lovely friendly staff. Comfy beds. Great breakfast.very local to bars and shops
Noise from road and people outside early in mornings
Location to train station to go on visiting other cities
The towels of my room were not changed/clean during my stay
Great location close to train station. Good breakfast. Value for money.
Noise from the street outside.
Excellent I'll be back
Quiet, Nice people. Good Breakfast although not included.
No room that costs £106 room only should come without en suite facilities. Three floors up with no lift. No TV and No parking. No check procedure. If they had not crammed a single bed into the already small room. They could have put in en suite facilities .
Across the street from the car park. Great location. Unique charm. Housekeeping was very helpful. Closer to car park than the Premier Inn and much cheaper.
Receptionist was slow and not very helpful. Room on street was noisy.
Quiet Comfy bed Clean Free WiFi Friendly staff Close to train station and York Centre
Room was quite small
Very convenient and easy to find. Reception staff really helpful finding us a safe place to store our bikes. A different and interesting type of place to stay. Basic but clean and warm bedroom - just as expected! Great breakfast.
Great location for the money. I felt very safe as a young female solo traveler. If I make it back to york I will plan on staying here :)
After a busy afternoon exploring York I could come back and rest in a delightful garden or in my very comfy room. The staff were all very cheerful and helpful.
The friendliness of the staff Cleanliness of the full building Well positionned, close to the train station and the historic center Good facilities (kitchen, bathrooms)
WiFi not available on top floors Insolation between rooms not perfect and with the outside
One felt safe as it is a nunnary.
Rooms very basic, need updating. Car park cost £31.50 for two days. Should have booked a better hotel with parking.
Very Central Location Selection of bathrooms and showers Free access to museum Fascinating building and history
Breakfast in the garden
Not enough em suites
At the last minute I booked a night at the Bar Convent. It was an excellent place to stay. Very clean and such a quite place. I had a lovely evening there and enjoyed my breakfast the next day
The only problem I had was I booked in on the sunday and when I arrived it was during a closed door time there so I had to call. Fortunately someone was around and I was able to check in there and then which was good as id travelled up from Weston superare
Friendly welcoming staff, clean room
The man in the room next door who came back to the hotel at 2am, stamped around and had a very loud telephone conversation
Very expensive- Shared toilet facilities at a rate of £106/night for a family room is not comparable to market values. Also, the room is very basic. The continental breakfast provided is too basic- the option of full English breakfast at the cost was expected
