Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable bed, excellent freshly cooked breakfast, lots of free parking, very quiet location, residents' lounge, amazing views of the gardens and sea from my bedroom.
view over garden to the sea comfortable lounge area
The building and grounds, especially the pool. Breakfasts were excellent and waiter was very friendly. Room was spacious and lovely view
Unique Character. Beautiful View. Large Room
It's quite a distance from the town center with no pubs shops or restaurants nearby.
Lovely old Grade II listed building with "olde world" charm. Great location, great views. Beautiful gardens. Excellent freshly-cooked breakfast.
A few minor maintenance problems such as windows difficult to open and close. Little sound-proofing between rooms and slamming fire doors in the passageways.
Location-beautiful building-comfortable bed-nice facilities like the garden lounge and dining room
Could do with a little tlc as windows didn't close properly and wall paper coming away in parts
quirky hotel lovely views and gardens
slow service at breakfast hairdryer wired in with no mirror nearby
Views & Breakfast
Good surroundings, friendly and helpful staff.
Couldn't be helped but very creeky floors.
Very welcoming nothing too much trouble
Wi-fi not good.
location and staff were helpful
The location was lovely with a beautiful garden overlooking the sea. It was welcoming and comfortable and a very quiet nights sleep. A great choice of breakfast served by very friendly staff. The room had everything.
The old style and decor was beautiful. Very welcoming. I had a good size single room with a view of the sea. The need was very comfortable. The lounge was big with a piano but this was not played whilst I was there. The breakfast was usual cereal and cooked English breakfast. However I did have to wait an hour for scrambled egg and toast as they were short staffed. The staff there were helpful.
I heard from other people I could have ordered a sandwich for later in the day. This would have saved me going back out again. If you stayed around the hotel there wasn't any food.
view adequate room
no soap in bathroom
Breakfast excellent, nothing too much trouble. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very close to Exmouth seafront.
Not all bedrooms had showers. Swimming pool was something of nothing, either needs to be bigger or disposed of, gardens also lacked a bit of tlc.
Location. good breakfast and pleasant staff.
Nearness to beech. Excellent breakfast Good car park for Classic cars. Quiet street. Great View from the garden. Polite efficient staff.
A few minor things like toilet roll holder, but only for nit pickers.
The location was wonderful with amazing views and the breakfast was good.
The bath had a shower without a hook to hang it up and no shower curtain or screen. There was no interfacing plug to connect to WiFi.
Lovely position and location. Staff very obliging and hard-working.
Appeared to be under-staffed. Room not serviced. The general maintenance of the place appeared run-down. The hinges on the windows were broken and unable to open windows - very hot nights!! No shower. Toilet seat did not fit toilet and the kettle looked positively unhealthy and should have been scrapped long ago.
Location and architecture
Couldn't get the bedroom cool Needs some refurbishment - but not so to spoil its charm
The property is quirky and interesting with a relaxing atmosphere.
Room 'tired' Staff not bothered When went to pay by cash (£89) - 'oh we haven't got any change' garden definitely not 2acres as described Thought it was something it wasn't - relying on previous reputation
Internal and garden - appearance attractive
external appearance did not do Hotel justice
Breakfasts, sea views
