Lovely staff and a pleasant atmosphere. Room very nice indeed. Environment not what we expected. A trading estate rather than the countryside. Poor decoration in lounge...lovely lighting for some awful art work. Loo did not flush. Food in evening passable but expensive. Breakfast poor especially Sunday morning. I mean, who does like cold baked beans and then the toaster blew up. Bacon was like cardboard.

Our special requirements made at the time of booking were in place and were checked by the receptionist to ensure they were the best they could be. Whilst we encountered a difficulty in the bathroom, it was immediately addressed. All staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Every effort was made to ensure our comfort and well being. The receptionist was particularly helpful but that is not to take anything away from everyone else on the staff with whom we had dealings. Our stay was in order for us to enjoy a family wedding party and the wedding celebration itself seemed very well organised and executed. Thank you for a lovely weekend. The toilet flush in Room 210 does require some attention

1 Cleaning away the bottles into the bottle bank at 0.45 in the morning. 2 Rooms far to hot. 3 To much noisy in the court yard of the hotel. Control of residents.

We found the staff exceedingly friendly and helpful .Apart from breakfast we had one dinner which was of a high standard. The purpose of our visit was to watch our grand-daughter taking part in the national under 18 school hockey finals .The Barns is ideally situated for Cannock Park.

Good size room, particularly the bed. Staff helpful and the food great - portions huge! Really enjoyed the stay. A bit noisy along the corridor when other guests return to their rooms.

I afraid that this was not a positive experience. The heating did not work in the room nor did the television. The heating was eventually put on after two visits to reception. The room look unclean, there were stains all over the carpet and it just looked generally not inviting.

Stay was pleasant, modern and clean. Good size rooms. Ajoining Pub and restaurant has very good food (note: where breakfast is served). Very pleasant staff. Noisy extractor fan and fire door closers catching on doors resulting in unnecessary banging. These fault were being dealt with. Other than that a pleasant stay

The room was well appointed with nice decor and clean sheets. Although the carpet was a bit dirty, everything else was great. If you like to shower without washing your hair, take a shower cap as the fixed head shower was very powerful! No telephone in room, but going down to reception produces the night porter (via a mobile phone call) who seemed to run everything! (Perhaps owner?) Very polite, helpful and friendly. Free wi fi, nice restaurant for breakfast, quiet and peaceful night's sleep when the pub emptied. First impression was full pub well lit up, very popular and clean. I would definitely stay here again. For parking, go past the hotel, pub and enter that way (if hotel on your right). Even had feather pillows if you wanted them! No phone in room, but I have my own mobile for any emergency as most people would, I guess. Dirty carpet, but this was cream and would be expected really. Otherwise nothing I didn't like!

Staff could not do enough for you. The breakfast would have been perfection if only the mushrooms had been brown cap rather than the insipid white cap [only 10% flavour of a brown cap why bother?] and the tomato [beef] would have been excellent on a burger but not for breakfast lightly basted cherry tomatoes would have made this breakfast historic. Eggs [friedx2] were cooked to perfection runny but crispy bottoms, fantastic fried bread, 8/10 sausages [large and x 2] near perfect crispy smoked bacon [only improvement would have been to have more than 2 rashers] excellent baked beans for perfection saute potatoes rather than a hash brown and stornaway black pudding but as an integral cost of accommodation it was great. Great room spoilt only by its most critical factor a mattress so soft it was virtually non existent! Real shame.

“This hotel is ultra modern, close to local amenities, the staff were very polite & helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable and as it was on the 10th floor the view was stunning, however as this was a twin room I do think that there should have been 2 complimentary bottles of water in the fridge and not one. I would recommend this hotel. There was ample to choose from at the buffet breakfast.” Yvonne, Birmingham |
