Score from 152 reviews Very good
Relaxed atmosphere and a warm welcome.
The cream carpets in the bedrooms were a poor choice for a hotel. A darker more serviceable carpet would enhance the appearance.
Friendly staff who seem genuinely pleased to help. Efficient quick check in and out. I had to drive from appt in the SouthWest. was late and telephoned to say so. They could not have been kinder - made sure I'd eaten etc ( I hadn't but the dining room was still open when I finally got there. Breakfast efficiently served - I missed my Nespresso; and no coffee anywhere ever matches up. But really 100% and will use again.
Restaurant had nice food and the service was good, in particular the older man with glasses who was working on Saturday 1st Nov. Very welcoming and jovial.
The welcome was poor. There was no "Hello, welcome to the Barns, have you stayed with us before, can I help with anything else" Instead we had "Whats you name, and your room is upstairs in front of you" There was no mention of the services you had ie, bar restaurant. And whether we wanted to book a table perhaps. The room was fine but located next to the cleaners cupboard made for a noisy stay. Not that they were shouting, but the walls were so thin we could here everything. On that note we could also hear the room next door in the bathroom!
Food was really very good and extremely reasonably priced
A bit more sound proofing of rooms would be good...
I loved this hotel it was beautiful. I attended a wedding the staff were helpful and attentive. The room was clean and tidy. The breakfast included in the price didn't cater to vegetarians for hot food. But there was cold continental too.
No hot vegetarian food for the breakfast
Rooms were clean, spacious, with loads of drawer space (rare these days). Décor & furnishings were shades of country browns and creams, so very restful. Staff good, e.g. Ross on arrival, Amy at breakfast [you won't want lunch!] and Stephanie on check out. Wi-Fi fast and reliable (and we're in the countryside!) It's in the middle of nowhere so you need a car but because of that, it's dark and quiet at night. No main road noise or light pollution: brilliant. Will stay there again. Didn't have an evening meal though.
A small thing, not significant but the lighting in my room was Very Bright. No bedside lamps but two very bright wall uplighters above the bed and only one switch, not on the side I sleep on! Far too bright for a restful evening watching "Downton Abbey" and drinking wine. I used the desk lamp only but that was a bit too dim. Think it was a bit pricey at £89 for B&B on a Sunday night but maybe there's not much competition in Cannock.
The food in the the restuarant was fab! Really lovely stay!
we like it's proximity to Stafford and Birmingham, good value, comfortable rooms, good bar, real ales, with excelent pub food
the room was clean fresh and comfy, great shower ... good wifi ...! id defo use again ... nice staff and friendly ppl ...!
ok its a shame to say because it looked so yummy , but the breakfast was stone cold ..and to many kids running about in the bar out ov control ...!
Loved the food, plenty of it! and a very comfy bed.
Walls are thin
The staff were very helpful and concerned that we had had a problem.
We stayed over a week end. (Friday & Saturday) Friday and Saturday were obviously used as wedding days with guests staying over. The first night we stayed was the most noisy we have ever encountered in a hotel. Our room was directly alongside the staircase and the soundproofing was inadequate. Every time someone ran up the stairs, and this continued until 2am, it sounded like a herd of elephants. People were talking loudly and running up and down the corridors until the same time. Then our next door neighbours started taking baths, banging drawers and cupboards and didn't settle until 3a.m. Not the best start to our 'relaxing, week end break.I wouldn't consider staying at this hotel again on either a Friday or Saturday. Our daughter arrived very late, on the Friday, and was given the key to the room booked for them, by the night porter. They took themelves up and let themselves into the room. Unfortunately it was already occupied by someone else. Fortunately , as they were at the wedding, they were not actually in. Still, this was one BIG lapse of security.
Good value and the food and drinks in the bar were also good value
Supposed to have a gluten free menu but only had pasta, lock on room poor, no phone in room , sink did not drain, to be fair the sink and door were fixed quickly. Only 1 disabled parking space
Friendly staff, general building view and quality of indoor&outdoor facilities
Cleanliness (towels on bedroom floor-not by me, with unpleasant humid smell that shows towels has not been replaced)
Where the hotel was sited with easy access to major routes to the places that we were visiting. All staff went out of there way to make our stay very pleasant indeed. Room neat tidy and spacious.
Lovely large room on ground floor. Quiet, comfortable, modern and clean.
Staff in the bar/restaurant weren't as helpful as they could have been. Our table was rarely attended to
Location ,Bar ,Staff Lady that works evening reception is very lovely and helpful
Dirty bedroom carpet,Marks on walls ,musty smell in room.
Beautiful decor in bar/restaurant; friendly staff
No bedside lights:, no wi fi in bedrooms; hard mattress; stained carpet; poor breakfast set up in corner on small table
Location was easy reach for our Friends Wedding location the other side of Stafford, without the worry of being in Stafford itself.
Evening restaurant meal wasn't the best and two noisy weddings taken place while we were there (2 nights)
bedroom very comfortable lovely bath peaceful
dining room was a bit over crowded at breakfast. There was no fresh fruit or veggie sausages as described in the menu and we had to wait quite a while for food to be topped up. It was very busy though and only appeared to be one member of staff. The food that was available was very tasty though!!
Restaurant food was lovely
Breakfast was cold and very thin walls. Glad it was just one night as wedding guests
Spacious room cleanliness big towels comfy bed nice buzzy bar/restaurant decent food/wine at reasonable prices on site which is just what you need when travelling
hard pillows ground floor so wasn't keen to leave the window open breakfast was not very good - poached eggs overcooked and bacon greasy reception area let the rest down - a bit grim
lovely room great food
thought it would be more rural
