the hotel was very clean and modern, the shower was the best ever. Breakfast was very nice. The hotel was very central and we enjoyed our stay. we were not told we needed to book a table in the restaurant for our evening meal and subsequently we had to eat out. |

The room was very modern and the pool was very clean I asked for champagne to be put in the room for our arrival, it wasnt, then was told the hotel didnt do this service(although it was promised) the pool is 1.4mtrs in the deep end so if your taller that 5 foot its useless, the dinner menu is soooo over priced, we found a bar menu with exactly the smae food on for around £15 rather than a set £20!!! go into town and eat! And not to mention the 'pool veiw deluxe room' was more like an air-con view standard room.there was a toe-nail in our room and the bar-man call the rest of the staff 's**t'. If your looking for a rip- off hotel go here, definatly not up to any other brend hotel |

We had a very enjoyable long weekend. The hotel is ideally placed for touring North Devon including Exmoor. The meals in the hotel were excellent and the Sunday carvery was the best value ever for such a hotel. I would reommend this hotel also for its swimming and gym facilities. A bit off putting that the hotel is in a business estate with a new build next door but once inside the hotel you didn't even notice this. |

Both pools excellent, the heated outdoor pool was a bonus. Good base for exploring the North Devon beaches. Breakfast was excellent and the carvery on the Sunday was very good value for money. Would try other hotels in this chain. |

the barnstaple hotel has a good friendly family atmosphere, the staff were attentive, polite and always smiling. the quality choice and quantity of the breakfast was fist class..the room was big and very clean with an enornous bed..all in all very good value for money. the leisure facillities were not great but were acceptable..the location is that great and it smelt like there was a fish processing factory on the reception side.. |

Well designed and spacious bedroom. The indoor pool was lovely and warm and the outdoor pool was a great suntrap situated in a hotel courtyard protected from the wind. Helpful staff. |

The outdoor swimming pool but I think the whole leisure club bit could do with a refresh - it's very dated. Breakfast was excellent - a really good selection available and nice, friendly chef. Restaurant staff were really good actually - reception staff and health club staff not good. It could all do with an update - very tired looking and dull. Did not like having to walk through corridors to get from the changing room to the pool. Did not like the damp bits of carpet on the floors between the two. |

Restaurant meal was of a very high quality (although admittedly at a premium rate also) but you get what you pay for, and breakfast variety was also very good. The whole place has a "tired" feel to it... and having booked an "executive" suite - we were disappointed that the room was pretty basic (not even a mini bar or choice of anything other than 5 tv channels) and not particularly clean... pillow case had mould in it and the toilet seat was broken... then down to dinner and at £24 a head for two courses, expecting a clean fork isn't too much to ask surely? Staff appear to be mostly "students" in the restaurant - happy to drift around and chat to each other and have a laugh, but sullen when asked a question (such as "can I have a fork that hasn't got stuff growing on it please?"). Whole place is just "tired" (if ours was executive I cringe at what a basic room consists of) |

The pool facilities were great. The standard of the restaurant was excellent, both level of service and quality and presentation of food. all staff were polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I didn't like having to walk outside to my room (we were in room 12), I don't know if this was because of the type of room we had requested, but would have preferred a room in the main hotel, will request this when we stay again. |

We chose The Barnstaple Hotel for a relaxing weekend and particularly wanted the use of a swimming pool - the facilities were excellent. We were very fortunate with the weather and to our surprise ended up using the outside pool. The breakfast was outstanding, as were the food services provided at the poolside area. |

Friendly owners, good breakfast and overall very good value for money. If you do not want to use the car and would rather walk, it is about a mile to the coast. |

Friendly staff, room small but clean and comfortable. Good location with ample parking.Nice leisure club.Breakfast good. Bar prices for food and drink overpriced. Was going to eat in but after hearing from 2 other guests that the food was not up to normal standards, decided to venture into town. |
