In the center of Oban, ideal for Argyll and the Islands, this small Scottish hotel is one of the town's oldest buildings, with a lounge, small bar and views of the waterfront.

Warm welcome, sherry in the room, very much needed after a wet and windy drive in the dark from Glasgow! Helpful and cheerful staff, with an excellent breakfast choice.
Cold ensuite and damp towels. Service only fair. Over priced.
Loved our big room, big bathroom with fluffy towels and robes, with a view over the sea. Came with fresh fruit, bottled water, even a sherry to enjoy in the evenings. Fabulous breakfast and easy walk to town.
We loved the location, the attention to detail, the very friendly welcome including the complimentary glass of sherry - a truly lovely experience.
The property itself, the bedroom layout, size & facilities, the friendly & engaging owner/manager and staff, the breakfasting room and breakfast, the seafront location & views, the proximity to the ferries to the islands, the restaurants and to Oban generally.
The cost per night is ever so slightly excessive for a B&B however, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and weekend in Oban. This is a 1st class B&B and we will return!
Free wifi. Excellent breakfast, comfortable rooms.
Nothing. Very disappointed. Our experience did not match the description or reviews. The owner did attempt to redeem the situation and said he did not want us to leave disappointed with our stay. I imagine that the rooms at the front of building are nice but unlucky if you don't get one. ..
Room and bathroom in particular in desperate need of refurbishment. Black marks on Bath room floor, grotty sealant and rusty bits on Bath. Paper thin walls, woken at 7 by people next door talking and watching TV. Fire doors at top of stairs propped open by fire extinguisher! Frenetic clattering about by staff in breakfast room clearing and setting up tables. .. Not necessary and felt chaotic. Couldn't be reimbursed as we had paid through booking.Com, we didn't stay for second night.
Bed, shower, food, staff, everything was excellent !
There was plenty of space for the four of us. The living room area was a real bonus. Sherry, fruit, tea and coffee on our arrival was most welcome. Excellent choice at breakfast too.
Room was on top floor. Would have liked a room on a lower floor due to our age.
Fantastic view-lovely patio for wine, the sunset and watching the ferries
shower was less accommodating -for a 6'7" guest but was outweighed by the charm of the place
Room was very large though up two flights of stairs. But the view from the top was magnificent accros Oban bay
Service and breakfast.
We loved everything about this guest house. We had the suite on the 1st floor which was crazy comfortable and gorgeous. Sue was the manager while we were there...LOVE her! Wonderful, romantic, comfortable stay. We could have lived there. Highly recommend!!!
Friendly staff, good breakfast, only had one night, late arrival and early start to catch ferry, happy to recommend.
Petty really but the car park is laid out with breeze blocks and even though painted white I did trip over them when hands were full!
The guest house is located right on the esplanade, ten min walk from the city main attractions. I loved the way the rooms were decorated in a traditional style. You do not feel like you are in a hotel. We booked an apartment and I got more than I expected. We had our own living room with a sea view, two bedrooms (very quiet ones, and beautifully decorated), a hallway and a bathroom. Not all the radiators were working, but we found an extra electric heater in the wardrobe. You have also an iron table and an iron and some extra pillows and duvet. In the living room we were welcomed with a coplimentary plate of fruits and a bottle of cherry. This was a nice surprise. Mark and his wife are in this bussines for a long time and you can tell. They really know what a guest would like to get and they give it to you. We got the map of the town and the information about the main attractions from the begining. We had the key for the main door, in case we decided to stay late in town. Mark is living next door and in case you need something or in case of emergency you can find a buzz in downstairs near the exit door and he will come to help you. I was close to use that buzz, becouse we believed the electric shower is not working, but we found and extra switch outside the bathroom. You better check that out :) The breakfast was very good and they were kind enough to allow us to get some food upstairs in the room for the kids who were sleeping late. The kids enjoyed the suit very much, they said they did not feel like being in hotel, they just felt like home :) An extra tip: be sure to phone in case you arrive after 7pm and give the estimation of your arrival. He will be happy to wait for you. I would love to come again in a sunny day and enjoy the view from the outside terrace. So, yes...I would stay there again...
The only thing I did not like were the sofa and armchair in the living room. They were kind of old and a bit dirty down where you keep your legs. This is mainly the fault of the guests that were wearing their shoes inside. The carpet is very clean and it was warm so it is no need to keep your shoes on :( Maybe a professional cleaner could fix this. But this was just a minor issue... I have to apologize myself for my younger kid wetting the bed...
Location - terrific Rooms - very clean / welcoming Staff - friendly and engaging
Early check out time (10am) - be great to get an extra half hour.
the view from the room the breakfast and location
Our welcome, the view, the large and well-furnished room, breakfast with variety of fresh fruit and Scottish food, front door locked at night, owners on site
This is a personal preference, but we felt rushed as soon as we entered the breakfast room. There were four quick questions as we were sitting down and all we wanted was coffee and to look at the menu as we enjoyed our surroundings! Each new party was greeted with the same four questions.
Spectacular view from bedroom window. Very spacious bedroom and bathroom.
Bed was a bit hard.
We loved the sea view, the hospitality and the great breakfast. Good and peaceful place to be.
A decent size of bedroom. A decent bed. A few hundred meters walk from the main area , so quiet yet walking distance from the centre of Oban
Breakfast does not start until 8am but was pleased with the packed breakfast available for earlier risers
We visited four years ago loved the Barriemore ... and returned this September to find a wonderful array of upgrades and additions! Thoughtful and friendly staff, immaculate, comfy, quiet, well-appointed rooms, a killer view and superb location on the Oban esplanade add to the top-flight rating!
Location, room size, breakfast was fantastic, conservatory area great for sitting and visiting.
Beds were a bit too hard and not as comfortable as other places we stayed.
